It's hard to tell who's angrier about their dealings with Gardeners' Choice -- those who didn't get the plants they ordered or those who did.
There are a couple of lessons here, the primary one being: don't use a check to pay for merchandise ordered through the mail or online. You have no recourse if the merchandise fails to arrive or is unsatisfactory. Instead, pay with a credit card. You have 60 days to dispute a charge for missing and unsatisfactory goods or services.
Don't have a credit card? Shop locally and pay cash.
What can those who lost money to Gardeners' Choice do? Not much, although we have a few suggestions.
This, by the way, is an annual event. Come springtime, the complaints blossom, like this batch of seedlings:

Tomato plants 1/2 dead and finished dying a week later after transplanting. Ordered a strawberry tree and free seeds should have come with it. I received the seeds for 5.95 plus shipping. It costs them .79 to ship each package and they charged 7.95. I have been gardening for 50 years. This company is a total rip-off. Can't get anyone in customer service, the phone disconnects. Can you please check on this company? They advertise through newspapers and magazines as well as the internet.
My order was 33.89. I planned on having these tomatoes for canning for a yearly food supply..they are dead. What a dissapointment! Now have to buy more plants.

I have ordered a plants and I have paid at about 45.00 for that.they charged my credit card on March 13th of 2009 and I never received the plants until today, which is 04/07/2009. I called them several times to see what happend with my order, one time I was waiting at about 45 minutes for option 2, which is to check the status of you order. After finally I have been conected they told me that they dont know and the customer service agent will call me back with the result. They never did.I called back next week and the week after and several times the phone get disconected. This is scam, and someone suppossed to do something.
The tomato plants that I have ordered I couldnt plant as the temparature was ready and now it is getting to late, because temparature is at about 75-80.

I order a Weeping Japanese Maple in February of 2009 and acording to my charge card the tree was apid for and I have not recieved it yet. I wrote them an email two weeks ago stating that they told me the tree would be mailed out two weeks after that email. It has been a month and I still am waiting for this tree. I have also tried to contact them by phone and get cut off everytime. The tree cost 7.98 plus all shipping and handling, which came to 15.72.
I would either like this tree ASAP or my credit card credited. My order # 241218 Part #: T20703-1 Manufacturer Part #: T20703 (Qty: 1 x 7.98) This is how my printed recipt reads. I have tried to check my order status by their means and it will not go through. It keepsd telling me it taks too long to get through, and shuts down. I would appreciate any help in dealing with this company. I am very unhappy with them as I see from other coments, there are lots of complaints.
Frustration and Anxiety about be taken.

Order for misc. plants placed on 2/12/09. The temp. was in the 70's. I made numerous efforts to communicate with the co. without results. The telephone system is a joke. A complete waste of my time and effort.
The temp. is now in the mid 80's and is to hot to begin planting especially tomatoes and the like. They will fry, if they even arrive alive. You can bet that I will never patronize Gardeners again.

We placed an order for 3 tomato trees and we were also to get 3 big Early's. this company has tried to sign us up with the good fun club. so please every one watch your accounts for this extra charge that will be taken out once a month. I have tried to call this company but i always get disconnected this is just wrong so please stop this company from all of this scams. We got the products from this company but, well they were plants that we ordered and well we got 6 little cardboard containers that are seed but, don't know if it well ever grow and we were told that we would receive live plants and not seeds. even in the book the send you to order more say Plants Not Seeds well this is not true.
This company needs to be held accountable for there actions and should refund all money to every unhappy customer! Once again beware of the fun club that may debit you account and you wont even know it until it is too late. Thank you for your time and want to say good luck to every one dealing with this head ache.

I ordered Tomato plants through their web site in January. It is past planting season and I never recieved plants. Their web site does not let (request times-out) check status of order. Their telephone simply disconnects. When contacted through e-mail to cancel the order, they claimed it has been shipped! Further e-mails to obtain shipping details (date, tracking #) went unanswered.
My order total was approx. 25. More than dollar amount, I lost the planting window this season.

Placed 2 orders this winter for spring delivery--shipping charges were 7.95 for each order. Rec'vd 2 boxes with one small item from each order and was charged (on my Amex # given at time of original orders) 9.95 and 8.95 for shipping these items--which did not have to be shipped until planting time with the remainder of my orders. Their web sites states the 7.95 shipping cost for orders of my order size and that is stated on my original invoice.
I have tried many times to contact cust service through their website--always get a timed out message. Have called customer service 5 times--disconnected when I dial 2 as directed. Tried to get through to sales--was told to press 2 for customer service, then tried again this morning and held 8 minutes for an operator and finally gave up.

I ordered 4Amazing 8 ft Tomato tree plants. What I recieved was 4 tiny pots with dirt in them. I am assuming there are supposed to be a seed in each pot but I ordered PLANTS. You telling me I paid 14 for 4 tomato seeds. This is an outrage.
