GE Profile involved in recall. They fixed the problem, but took away an important feature in the process. I bought this dishwasher because it was very quiet and is listed as a feature of this unit. The fix required the repairman to remove the insulation in the door leading to an extremely loud unit.

Purchased GE dishwasher 3/8/06 I have had 5 service call on the dishwasher. 10/31/31 was the last service call at 2 pm. After the tech left, the dishwasher would not stop. They have never returned any of my call. I was on hold for over 30 minutes. They want to replace the dishwasher with the same model now since I refused a 6 service call. I am tired of having my NEW dishwasher fixed and do not trust the same model or much less GE or their dishwasher.

I have not been able to use the dishwasher since August 2006. It has been broken longer than I have had it. I have an allergy to some dishwashing soaps and have to be very careful. I like to use the dishwasher to sterilize my dishes and have not been able to do that at all. I have taken off work 3 times for GE. Once they shipped the part..it was late..actually it went to the wrong address and set there for 3-4 days because they were on vacation. GE's service is a joke

George of Brighton, MI September 21, 2006

George of Brighton, MI (09/21/06)
The detergent dispensing cup cover on my GE dishwasher would get stuck sometimes or would only open partially. When we took the door apart we found that the Noise damper w/adhesive backing (part # 270279) had melted, distorted and slip down on the cup mechanism and created the sticking problem.

I removed, and all's well. I paid extra for this QUIETER model and I'm appauled at the shodiness of this GE product.
