I purchaced a ge stove, when using the oven, the control panel, & the burner knobs get extremly hot, I've been burned twice, just trying to shut the oven off. my 4 yr old grandson was also burned. Bunne of Atlanta, GA October 18, 2008

Bunne of Atlanta GA (10/18/08)
Last fall we purchased a GE Advantium oven & GE profile wall oven. I hate the advantium. The only thing it is good for cooking are the sausage & pastry we saw at Home Depot Expo. WE WILL NEVER BUY GE AGAIN. The oven gets so hot it has melted pads on the back of a painting on the dining room wall it backs up to. Hence I have NEVER used the self clean cycle for fear of fire.

Because of our unhappiness with the ovens we will re-do our kitchen after the holidays & be SURE not to purchase GE products ever again! What a dissappointment for us in [their] product. I would never advise anyone to buy these ovens.

Jshon of San Bruno, CA October 17, 2008

Since purchasing my GE XL44 Self -Cleaning Gas Range in 1995, we have had the same part (WB2X9154: igniter broiler/oven) replaced in 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2008 (Oct 17). For the privilege of having GE repair its products we have had to pay them 711.90 for all these service calls. That represents about 50 less than the original cost of the oven. To think that because of one part we have basically bought another oven that will break in about a year.

I called the GE Consumer Service line and was told that they would investigate why the part breaks in our oven. When I asked about having some sort of discount on this constant replacement, the response was that GE did not charge me for the replacement part. I should be happy with only paying 185 today. Had the part not been under GE’s “incentive warranty the cost of the house call would have been 290. That would have pushed the total paid for repairs on the oven over the cost of the oven.

This is the last GE Appliance I will ever buy! The repair schedules and insensitive customer service is completely unacceptable. The real consequence to these repairs was the expense of eating out for weeks at a time while waiting for repairs. When will companies really begin to respect the people who buy and use their products?

I moved into a new condo with all G.E. Profile appliances. After 2 years--with little use, the oven control and key pad both had to be replaced, at a cost of 500.00. This is absurd for top of the line appliances. Now--I'lll buy a 2 year insurance policy!

We purchased our GE Oven, Model JGBP30BCA6WH on 8/16/01. On 10/17/03, we had to have the ignitor replaced in the oven for 181 (Oven cost was 699). The original ignitor's warranty was only one year. New ignitor (WB2X9154) now has a 5 year warranty.

It is now September, 2008 and the ignitor has again gone bad. Of course, GE will replace the 30 part but it is still over 150 to install the part. GE does not feel like this is out of the ordinary and will not do anything. We do not believe we should pay for the same repair twice in 5 years. The oven is only 7 years old.

We do not have a working oven.
