Andrea of Houston, TX July 10, 2009 In June 2009 I turned on the oven cleaner of my GE Spectra stove. A hour or so later I was upstairs and heard a popping noise. I went downstairs to investigate but saw nothing out of place. Later when I opened the oven to clean out the residue, I saw that the inside glass was in several pieces. GE wants to charge me to have someone come out and determine what kind of repair needs to be made, and then charge me for parts and labor on top of that. Dariusz of mansfield, MA July 8, 2009 Two days ago GE spectra stove that purchased in 2002 caught fire when my wife was baking pizza .Inside the oven lower heating element caught fire. It had a sparkler effect while it burned. Fuses were blown off and the fire eventually broke the lower heating element in to big three pieces and small burned metal pieces were stuck to the sides of oven. When we try to open the over heated oven door to let the smoke out, the one side that hold the door broke off . We have called GE services and we are awaiting for the to come to fix this problem. We have two kids that constantly make pizza ,my wife bakes a lot. This is a seven years old stove the accident like that should never happened. Felipe of MIRAMAR, FL June 26, 2009 On 2006 I bought on Best Buy a GE Profile Range, GE Profile Refrigerator and GE Profile Microwave. Just After the year the Range do not power off correctly, it stay on when the controls indicate it is off, the Hot Cooktop indicators remain on too when the range is off. This is very dangerous. Call GE and they only said the warranty expired and I do not bought the extended warranty. The Refrigerator freezer do not freeze, thanks god I do not get away the old 12 years old GE refrigerator. The microwave is not working at all. Looks like the new GE top of the line PROFILE appliances are make only to last a year at most 2 years and that’s it you are done, or you have to by an “EXTENDED WARRANTY†that some time cost 1/3 or more of the price of the appliance. I promise myself that will not by or recommend GE products until GE take responsibility of repairing my appliances. “EXTENDED WARANNTY PLANS†is not the solution, the solution is to make again applaiances that last for long time with a minimum of 5 years warranty. I believe to GE will happen the same like GM, appliances makers from other countries will take over because of the “BAD QUALITY OF GE APPLIANCES†Artur of San Diego, CA June 24, 2009 I bought an electric oven July 1, 2006. Since then, it was repaired 3x at the combined cost equal to the new one. It ruined our Thanksgiving dinner with many guests when it was 1.5 years old. GE does not want to hear of a refund. Lou of Asheville, NC June 14, 2009 My stove caught fire. I called GE recall line and was told that I would get a new stove that was like mine. Ateck. came out and told the support person on the phone that it had caught fire and we need a new stove. It took two weeks to line all of this up and with little help from GE. The delivery people upbacked the new stove after the one that caught fire was loaded. Then I was pulled aside and showen the order wile the other person finshed unpacking the new stove. It looks just like the old one BUT it is not. It is the chepest model they make. I had a confection oven, this one dose not,it runs on 110 volts and will cost me more to run my old one was 240 volts. I got back on the phone with GE and was told you let the delivery people leave it so it is yours.. Now I ask to speck to a superviser and was told they had all gone home But just before that she said let me talk with my superviser.... So lied to again. I feel GE has screw me good BUT I am still going to fight this Kathleen of New Brighton, MN June 13, 2009 I purchased a new built in single oven from GE approximately 3 years ago. There were numerous problems that I had, including the temperature not being accurate, strong smell of gas including a headache, and smoke pouring out of the oven without anything in it but it was on. Servicemen came out about six different times and finally fixed the gas smelling problem. According to them they put in all new parts. I continued to ask for a new oven because I was frightened. Finally, they appeared to have fixed it without installing a new oven. Today, June 13, 2009 I was baking some coffee cakes for a graduation party. They were being baked one at a time. Both were burned at the bottom even though the second one I rased the rack to a higher level. After that happened I decided to put into the oven a fairly expensive thermometer and set the oven fro 375 degrees. The outcome was the oven heated to 430 degrees. Thus the reason for the burning. For approximately one year the oven appeared to work fine. Now I am faced again with repair bills for an oven that is obviously faulty. John of Lakeville, PA June 11, 2009 GE Profile Stove...model numberJS90050k458 Liquid ran down between the oven door inside glass and outside glass. There is s space at the top of the oven door. Poor design! There is no spill safety as in this case to catch overflow of food cooking on top of the stove. My stove is new and the door glass cannot be cleaned since it is inside the glass. I spent 3 hours trying to contact someone to help other than hiring someone to take the oven door apart. Person at the above number hung up on me. when he could not give me any answers. Very disappointed in GE and we have many appliance, to make matter worse, my husband has stock in GE. Won't purchase any GE products as far as I am concerned. Brent of Wolverine, MI June 5, 2009 We bought a Hotpoint in Feb. for a new kitchen in our cabin. We used it once in March (we were putting cabinets in and wasnt there at the time full time yet) It wouldnt work, we called the warehouse, they gave us a service tech. We called him, he came out, said he would have the part (BRAND NEW STove?) in 7 days. He never called. 3 weeks went by, we called the warehouse again. She said Mark wasnt in and said she would call service. She called back a few days later and said the part was back ordered and be in next week. 3 weeks went by, no one called us, we had to call them. Now were talking to the manager, he says he has to talk to the GE Rep. All we wanted was to trade it for a stove with no LED lights to work it and buy a GE microwave. No one has called, its been over a week. MIND you this has been going on since the beginning of March! I have not been able to cook ANYTHING since March, it is June now. I will have to go to BBB, I have no other alternative, no one will work with us. Paid almost 500.00 for an appliance we cant use! Betty of Stanley, ND May 18, 2009 We purchased a "new" GE 30" free standing electric Model #JBS07HWW. We bought it from someone who purchased a new home and it came with it. They didn't need it. I bought it sight unseen, but after we got it home realized it wasn't what we wanted. We found someone who wants to buy it, but, we have had to use it a a couple of times. We have found out that the stove gets extremely hot on the outside when we use the oven. I am sure we could fry an egg on the top it gets so hot. Now we don't feel like we could sell it to someone else. I have no store to return it to. I am going to email GE but it doesn't sound like they do a very good job of customer support. We will be out 400, because we can not keep this stove in the house. It is dangerous. It will burn someone or something eventually. Sonia of Somerset, NJ May 5, 2009 I had previously filed a complaint about having 4 services calls made to my home for the same part on my oven. Customer service contacted me today about the complaint. Their resolution was for me to wait until the next time it fails, have service rep come out (which will cost me an additional 190) and while he is here have him contact GE and try to do a diagnostic test. I told the customer service agent I am not happy with this resolution because GE should have done this while they were here for the 2nd, 3rd or 4th visit. Why do I have to wait for my oven to fail again in another 6mos or a year for GE to solve this problem? THIS IS HORRENDOUS! I would also like to add that when I gave the agent the invoice number for the last repair, it did not match the job done. Is this how GE covers up multiple visits to one home? Report Your Experience
