GE Ice Dispensers Serve Up More Than Ice

Leanne of Mifflinburg PA (03/05/06)
Multiple major repairs, new compressor 2004, ice maker doesn't function properly, freezer ices up and burns out heater element for defrost. replaced heater 3/1/1006, unit worked for maybe a few hours, now 3/3/2006 unit failed again, now the "board" needs to be replace. This unit is a defective model known to have problems and they are still trying to rebuild it, piece by piece.

Dodie of Gastonia, NC March 1, 2006

Dodie of Gastonia NC (03/01/06)

I purchased a GE refrigerator on 11-14-05 from a local appliance store in my area.

From the first day it made a rattling noise every time the compressor came on. I immediately called for service. The service tech called and I explained the problem and he told me on the phone it was the compressor and it was a normal sound. The noise continued and I once again called for service. A service tech was sent to my home. He told me this was a high tech compressor, best one on the market and this was a normal sound. The refrigerator handbook states it may make a whoosh or humming noise, but it says nothing about a loud rattling noise.

I have since contacted GE by phone and e-mail only to be told they could send another service tech (at my expense) but they can not do anything to satisfy me as a customer. I intend to continue on with e-mails, phone calls to GE until I get results. I was told by customer service representatives just because i didn't like the noise they could not exchange or refund my money. It would be like giving someone a refund because they didn't like the color.

Bryan of River Vale, NJ January 25, 2006

Bryan of River Vale NJ (01/25/06)
The ice turner in my GE refrigerator rusted and now the ice has rust in it.

The refrigerators' water valve (not filter) where the water line comes in, breaks consitently every 8-14 months costing around 200 to fix each time.

GE has inferior support both in the Customer Relations Department and higher up the corporate ladder.

James of Jacksonville, FL August 3, 2005

James of Jacksonville FL (08/03/05)
I purchased a GE Profile Artica side by side refrigerator about 3 years ago. GE has replaced the ice auger three times because the plastic keeps cracking off. The plastic falls into glasses and is discovered either by someone biting into it or by finding it in the sink. I have two small kids that could choke on it. Every time I call and complain they said its not under warranty any longer and that they cannot help. this started the first year we got the machine and continues on.
