GE Ice Dispensers Serve Up More Than Ice

Quite a few things can go wrong with GE refrigerators and, as the complaints in this section show, getting problems fixed is anything but easy.

A few recent complaints ...

We bought a GE fridge from Lowes. Found your website only after going through almost ALL of the nightmares that your other posters had gone through. What a RIP-OFF!!! And b/c the fridge is used to store food... it is a HEALTH ISSUE. Forget the money lost on the purchase, the parts and the labor... the time off of work... the food thrown away... Oh my God... So proud to be an American today. Just like some of the other posters mentioned, my parents boast of appliances that they owned for 20 and 30 years!!! These GE Appliances are the symbol of the New America... send the jobs to China, have them send back junk for our landfills, and have Jeffrey Immelt and the boys put the cash in their pockets. How disgusted am I??? Dropped a thousand dollars on fridge that lasted less than two years... but after reading the postings on this website, I consider myself lucky!! Thanks GE... You are the Beacon of the New America. I am just so disgusted. I have a family of four I am trying to feed, it would be nice if I didn't have to keep throwing out the food!

Model No. PSS26MGPBBB I was charged 149.95 for the replacement of defective Board ASM Main Domestic and the Morotr Evap DC. The service man Alex admitted that these parts were defective. I also found many other similar complaints on-line with these refrigerators making howling noises. I want a refund and to be compensated for my time.

I would not only like a refund but also 1,000 for my wasted time and aggrevation. This Profile Refrigerator is around 3-years old.

In the seven years that I have owned my GE refrigerator, it has been repaired more than 10 times. Recently, I placed my 3rd call in less than 3 months for the same problem that I've had since I purchased it - the refrigerator portion stopped cooling. On the first 2 calls, technicans (always polite) have changed out parts and indicated that there wasn't anything else the could do. GE's Spoiled Food policy does not even come close to covering the cost of spoiled food.

In trying to escalate the problem on the phone to supervisors, I find that there is no one who can or will help resolve the problem. The cost of spoiled food payments, technician time, etc. has far exceeded the cost it would have been just to replace the unit, which is obviously a lemon.

I get nowhere. Now, I will wait 4 days for a service technician to come yet again, while I have to take time off from work to wait for the technician.

At no time in the future will I ever purchase a GE product. Their customer service policies are disgraceful and, at any opportunity, I will tell my story. Somewhere along the way, I will save up the money, take my business elsewhere, and purchase another refrigerator.

The waste of time and money is deplorable. The inconvenience caused to me, GE's customer is unbelievable - it's a refrigerator for goodness sake! It has taken up my time, wasted my money and caused incredible aggrevation through the years.

And still, GE fails to step up and properly respond. And that's if you are lucky enough to get out of their automated phone hell to get a live person.

Hundreds and hundreds of dollars lost in spoiled food. Lost time at work to accomodate repair technicians 4-hour workday windows.

I purchased a GE stainless refrigerator in 2003;GSL25JFPABS Model MF240276. After 6 months, the ice maker quit, (then subsequently, the water stopped servicing from the door) augering ice from the refrigerator door. We called, and were told the warranty was over and the house call would be 125.00. I fought this on and off for three more years and was finally told by a customer service person at GE that, you can't expect things to last forever.

In 2007, we had another appliance repair company come out and replace the auger motor. It failed. We have replaced three auger motors and paid for numerous repair calls and since June, 2008's latest replacement, we again have a non-working icemaker.Additionally, there is a major softening of all freezer items during the defrosting phase and the ice becomes clumped as well as overproduces( does to cut off at full level). I am now concerned that this defrosting is responsible for many years of (documented)gastro-intestinal problems and excessive weight loss caused by improperly defrosted and refrozen foods.
