GE Ice Dispensers Serve Up More Than Ice

Lots of things can, and do, go wrong with GE washing machines, including:

Or, as Ann of Philadelpia puts it:
As an employee for an appliance parts wholesaler, I can tell you that the GE washer (also sold as Hotpoint and RCA) is the worst design in the history of major appliances.

Others we've heard from recently would probably agree ...

Donna of Davie FL (09/07/06)
I purchased a GE washer (WSXH208) and GE dryer - approximately 3 1/2 years ago. I never fell in love with the washer, it always smells inside, sour smell. Several days ago it started making a very loud noise when spinning, which by the way usually is extremely quit. I called GE and they sent a repair man to look at the unit, I wasn't impressed with his ability. I think they're just parts changers. He gave me an estimate of 470.00 to repair the unit, which by the way the parts are covered under GE. So....that's just for the labor. I could buy a new unit for what they want to charge me for labor?? I called to speak to a supervisor, which didn't care what I had to say. She stated well that's the price the technician quotes the price. I then cancelled my appointment to repair the unit. I've owned many washers over the years and they have lasted for many, many years without problems. So 3 1/2 years scares me to ever purchase a GE unit again.

Jenny of Ocean City, MD May 1, 2006

Jenny of Ocean City MD (05/01/06)
I purchased the GE Profile Harmony washer and dryer In July of 2005. The clothes from the washer would come out twisted and in a million wrinkles not matter what setting I put it on and the dryer just can't get the wrinkles out no matter what setting I put that on. Also the clothes would be so hot that they would burn my hands. My dryer first broke in February of 06 there was no heat at all. Called for repair it took a week for them to come he ordered all new elements and a new mother board, then it took another week for him to come back and he dryer worked fine(still not getting the wrinkles out)till it broke again on April 11, 2006. Well todasy is May 1 and he has replace the mother board 2 more times, the motor and all new wiring. It still does not work.

His technical advisors have told him to order and rplace the motherboard again. Well he has said he won't be back because they are wron it can't be fixed and he can't take it any more so they are sending another repair person to my house. So I called the customer service right after he left and they told me there was nothing they could do that I had to wait. Then I asked to speak to a supervisor and spoke to Mrs. Little. She was no help either. I asked how long and how many parts and times they were going to replace the same things untill they could do something about it. she gave me no answer except that under no condions would they give me
