Sharon of Sandy, OR November 15, 2008

Sharon of Sandy OR (11/15/08)
This is an addition to my July roofing complaint. I finally received a payment from the insurance company. To obtain the payment, I had to use the insurance adjuster as both Home Depot and Sedgwick Ins. stonewalled me. This week Home Depot telephoned demanding payment for a contract I have already paid in full. They refused to even explore the possibility that they had been paid in full.

Home Depot has cost me several 100.00 in direct financial losses. More importantly they have systematically attacked me since last September 2007 in either physical acts against my property or psychological terrorism directed toward me. I have considered suicide because of these Home Depot attacks. I don't think I will ever escape Home Depot attacks of terrorism even if I pay them five times over. This must be what hell is like.

Signed contracts for roof, windows, gutters and attic installation in September 2007. Installed the wrong roof, not rated for location weather, a part of which blew off within the month. Correct roof installed later. Improperly installed eleven windows, without caulking or trim, which leaked during the same storm as the roof damage. The window leakage caused damage to a virtually new hardwood and dining room floors causing severe water damage. The flooring issue has yet to be settled. The window installation went far beyond substandard.

Gutters, wrong color and size, were installed. Correct gutters installed later. I was forced to fight on almost a daily basis, practically to the death, to get the windows properly installed and the correct gutters installed. The stress became so signifiant that I was unable to sleep night after night after night for months because I could not get the issues resolved with Home Depot. The frequently told me to contact my homeowners insurance company to cover the cost of their mistakes.

Economic damage mainly consists of replacing the water damaged flooring and the fact that the delays, incompetence, etc. prevented me from selling my current residence when there was a real estate market because I could not move into the house that Home Depot Home Services where busy not providing any reasonable service. Home Depot Home Services deliberately inflicted stress and harassment time and time again in my opinion.

It has now been almost 10 months and I still haven't gotten this situation resolved. This entire situation with Home Depot Home Services has been beyond exhausting and I even ended up with serious physical reactions because of the constant and continuos stress. I believe that they should loose their license to due business worldwide. They have caused me great harm; and, I am sure I am not the only person they have damaged. I have been lied to more than once in my life, but never with such outright aplomb as exhibited by the employees of Home Depot and their subcontractors.

I hired home depot to put a new roof on my house and my roof has been leaking ever since. I contacted home depot and they said they would have someone come out to assess the damage. No one ever got back to me. Nothing has been done. Not only did I call the home depot home services, but I also contacted the branch installation manager.

mildew, wet comforter and sheets, possible damage to wood floors.

Home Depot was hired to do my roof They removed Tarp from roof to place all the roof material s to do the roof. That night Hurricane Frances hit causing severe water damage to our roof and roof leaks. The tarps were but on the roof to prevent any damage from the coming hurricane.

Finally an appointment was made to schedule the roof repairs on Monday because we were at a seminar on Thursday. When we got home Home Depot had removed our roof, causing 13,000 worth of damage to our property and the roof still leaks Then they put shingles that did not match. It took over 3 years to get them to replace our shingles. They had to redo the entire roof. June 2008 roof still leaks, they refuse to make repairs correctly. They want us to settle with their insurance company for a little over 2,000.00 to make the problem go away. We also had to pay them for the roof.

Damage to our driveway, roof still leaks, damage to overhead on side of house, and many more.

Beware of THD At-Home Services. We own a 106 year old 3300 square foot craftsman bungalow home. We bought the home 1 year ago and we were in the market for a new roof. On April 5, 2008 Mr. Jon Rob? Young a sales consultant for THD At-Home Services came to our home to measure our roof and give us an estimate for the roofing. After taking detailed measurements and sketching out our roof he stated that this was the largest residential roof he had ever had to give an estimate for. We discussed the options and decided since The Home Depot was a nationally know name and with Mr. Youngs assurances of professional installers, supervision of the job by a project manager, and thinking that we would have the promised peace of mind guarantee we signed a contract.

Mr. Ted Gibson, our project manager, informed us that work would begin the morning of Thursday, April 24,2008. The installation team arrived at our home that morning. They spoke little, if any, English and Mr. Gibson was no where to be seen. They did work hard that day removing the old shingles. When they left that evening we had no idea what time they would arrive the next morning. Friday morning the installation team arrived sometime after 9:00 am and began roofing. Again, Mr. Gibson the project manager does not make an appearance that day either. During the third day of installation, Saturday, April 26, 2008 the installation team sawed off a cast iron sewer vent pipe from our roof and shingled over the hole. We found the pipe laying in our yard. When questioned as to why they would do this. We were told it was on their written orders from Mr. Gibson. They then said they would put the pipe back , which they did we later discovered by just sitting it on top of our roof!

We contacted Mr. Gibson, who told us to hire a plumber to fix the pipe and that THD would cover the cost. On Monday, April 28,2008 we had a plumber fix the pipe. The installation team then came back to our home to re- shingle that area. As we watched, they started attaching shingles directly to the wood without installing any roofing felt underneath. When we questioned this we were told it was a small area and didnt need felt. We insisted, and they had to go to a local hardware store to buy some.

On Wednesday April 30,2008 Mr. Gibson came to our home to fix some screens in replacement windows that THD had done for us and to inspect the roof. He noticed some shingles that had tar on them and told us that the installation team would be back to fix them. On Saturday morning May 3, 2008 they replaced those shingles. Yesterday, Monday May 5, 2008 it rained for the 1st time since the roof had been installed. We now have leaks where we never had leaks before. The installation team cut into our stucco chimneys (we have 4). Water was running down the outside of at least one of them . We also have 2 leaks in our attic, that we can see. Some of our attic space is not accessible, so there might be more.

I have talked to Mr. JP Brumby, the branch manager for the Carolinas, and Mr. Jeff Putnam ,installation manager, about all of these problems, and so far all Im getting is empty promises. We paid over 19,000 for this new roof and used The Home Depot because of their guarantees of customer satisfaction and quality craftsmanship. What a crock! Someone please help!

I have had to take off many hours of work to deal with this fiasco. Now with the roof leaking, we don't know if our plaster ceilings and walls will sustain damage. We have not received a bill yet for the pipe replacement from the plummers, so we don't know if THD will honor its promise to pay that or not.
