Husqvarna

Doug of beaufort, NC June 19, 2009

I have a riding husqvarna yth2448. It is really bad. I have had it for two years, have spent >1500 in repairs, and it is now not running again. The Briggs and Straton engine has had a valve fall off the rocker arm. Later a headgasket blew. It is backfiring and not running again. The mower seems OK, but the engine is NOT good. I have always put Stabil in the gas,and performed proper maintenance. NO more B&S engines for me.

I have a Husqvarna YTH1542 lawn mower and the fuel tank is leaking very bad. The tank is made of two parts and the fuel comes through the joint where the two parts come together. I have heard that there were many cases of the same problem as mine. Is there anyway I can get a new tank anywhere? Thank you

The results are that I lost a lot of fuel many many times, and another problem is that the fuel gets on the engine and the electrical wires that caused a fuse to go off. Everything under the hood is dirty because of this leak. What should I do?

Oberlin of Ferris, TX May 14, 2009

On 5-13-08 I bought a Husqvarna riding mower from the Lowe's store in Waxahachie, Texas. From day one I became concerned, while starting the mower it blew out a great big cloud of smoke. It did this everytime I started the mower. At first I thought it was just part of the breaking in process. After awhile I started wondering if there was something wrong with the motor. It didn't take long for me to find out. After putting 24.5 hours of use on the mower,( and yes, I did change the oil, and filter, at the recommended intervals), the engine started making a loud clanging noise. I tried to get it to the driveway where I could look at it when it backfired loudly and stopped dead in it's tracks. I tried to restart it and got just a whining noise, it wouldn't restart. I cut my lawn with it 5 times. It was just over 90 days old. the money back warranty had already expired.

I called the Lowe's store to find out what to do. They immediatly tried to pass the buck to the manufacturer. I told them I had only used it 5 times and thought they should either fix it, (which I didn't like because I didn't buy a rebuilt mower, I bought a NEW one), or, give me back my money, or maybe, just trade me out with another new one. They would have no part of that. They said because I didn't buy the extended warranty I was out of luck and would have to pay to have it repaired.

After a visit to the store, with the mower, the manager agreed to have their warranty mechanic shop pick it up and look at it to see if it was a warranty issue. The manager had Lowe's pay for the services of the warranty mechanic and gave me back my mower. I thanked him and went on my way. I stored the mower for the winter and hoped the mower wouldn't have anymore issues. The smoke however, according to them, was due to me not allowing the motor to run full throttle during break in. I was instructed by the Lowe's lawnmower man to run it full blast all the time. That would stop the smoking motor. I realy began to worry after that, just what did I buy? Six months have past, today's date is 5-13-09, the one year anniversary of my purchase. today, (5-13-09), I had to cut the grass again. I had about two thirds of a tank of gas and was able to cut the entire back yard, the side of the house, and most of the front, when, the mower began to sputter. I thought it had run out of gas, after all I did do a lot of cutting. While it was sputtering it was still running so I tried to take it to the stall where I could put more gas in it. But it went about ten feet and stopped running. I had been on it for about an hour and a half. So, I got up off the seat to get off the mower, as I got to my feet...KABOOOM! The mower exploded and burst into flames. Thank God, I had ran most of the gas out of the mower, or, I'm sure, I wouldn't be writing this story. The flames almost caught the house on fire as well. It took me a few minutes to get a handle on the situation, I called 911 and began to fight the fire with the yard hose. It took me almost fifteen minutes to put it out. The fire dept. pulled up about two minutes later. The moral of this story is...DON'T BUY A HASQVARNA! It could mean your life.

I purchase a YTH20K46 lawn tractor fron lowes. As I was mowing the yard I smelled the odor of gasoline. I got off the mower, raised the hood to see gas running out of the tank all over the cutting deck and onto the lawn. We were very lucky there was no fire. after checking the mower I found the fuel tank had cracked right in the center of the bottom. There is no support for the bottom of the tank, it is just supported by the mounting brackets molded on the side of the tank. This is a safety hazard that everyone should be aware of .

First I have to say I love this tractor but it has a very disturbing problem Husqvarna did not put guage wheels on the rear of the mower deck causing it to badly scalp my lawn nice tractor useless for mowing. I think Husqvarna should replace my deck with one of their decks with rear wheels even if it is just a 42 inch deck or at liest send me brackets and guage wheels so I can weld them on my self.

I have now spent over 1000.00 on a tractor you can't use.

On 12/1/08 I paid 4000.00 to the Sewing Studio in Farmington, NM for a new Husqvarna Topaz 30 embroidery machine that the store owner promised would also have free software. The software won't work 50% of the time, it freezes. The store says it's because my embroidery files are pes format, but the software is supposed to read pes! I've installed and un-installed the software 6 times to no avail.

From the first day I received it (12/8/08) I had problems with the thread. The top thread would break or make 'birds' nests' (a jumble of thread), the machine would jam and make horrible crunching noises. No matter how carefully I threaded it I still had problems. I took it back to the Sewing Studio repeatedly for these problems and each time they 'fixed' it, but it would continue to do it. In 3 wks time I had it back to them 4 times for the same problem. I had to either take it in or call about problems in Jan, 2009 and it was again 'repaired'. I picked it up and did not use it for several weeks, I just didn't want to listen to it make those crunching noises and mess up something again. I have an 11 yr old Brother embroidery machine that is working just fine and doing the EXACT same designs that the Husqvarna cannot do!

On Feb 16, 2009 I finally decided to try to use the Husqvarna again. It got 1/2 through the first design and formed birds' nests and made the horrible noises again. I shut it down and on Feb 17, I took the machine and all parts to the store and told them I wanted a refund, a full refund of 4000.00. They asked to send it back to Viking/Husqvarna so that the company could either repair it or replace it and I agreed even tho I did not want the machine and only wanted my money back. Fifteen days later, Mar 4, 2009 Wendy called to say that Viking/Husqvarna has not even looked at my machine yet! That she is to call back in a week and they might know more. This machine was purchased brand new and for the entire time I've had it, 3 mos, it's been nothing but trouble and unusable for about 1/2 the time if not more. I just want my money back.

4000.00 for the machine, approximately 40.00 for stabilizer, thread, material and numerous 40 mile round trips from our house to the shop.

I purchased a new Husqvarna Lawn Tractor on 2/10/09. I brought the mower home made a couple of rounds in which I noticed a wobble in the backend. Called the dealer and brought in the mower. They ordered a new rim and change that. I brought the mower home and it continues to wobble. I called back and then I asked for my money back or them to replace the mower and they refused. The regional for Husqvarna told me they are not walmart so they will not exchange the mower. He explained they wanted to show better quality by fixing it and I said I wanted another mower but they deep on with the same song and dance. He tells me they will replace the entire rearend.

I speak to them again today and now they want to try other alternatives before ordering a new rear end. The dealer says he doesn't want to lose money so to shit with the consumer I guess it is. Husqvarna sold him a broken mower that was eventually passed on to me. Well, looks like the big guys can do what they will and want. I am out nearly 3000 dollars and a broken mower sitting im my yard with only 2 hrs on it. I spoke to customer service with Husqvarna and they pushed me right off to the dealer. They will not take it back on exchange which is what they told me. I know of another person who bought theirs at a different dealer and it was replaced so I know the regional that spoke to me is possibly not telling the truth.
