Jenn-Air, now part of the Whirlpool empire, maintains an upscale image but many of its customers are deeply disappointed to find they didn't get the quality they thought they were paying for. Many, like those below, bought an entire kitchenful of Jenn-Air appliances. Others got off light and are unhappy with just one or two appliances, listed in the box to the right.

Bought a Jenn-Air gas downdraft slide-in range and after one monthe pass warranty it needed new panel. One year later same problem at 389.00 each. Company's response: warranty expired after 1 year.

I bought a Jenn-Air JS42SEDBDA S.S. Built-in fridge/freezer. It is 2 years old and yesterday the entire freezer door came off it's hinges and fell on me and hit the side of my head. I tried to catch it because I knew my Yorkie was at my feet, but it was too heavy for me and it fell right on top of my Yorkie. When I saw it fall on her and she was caught underneath it, I thought she was going to die.

I lifted it off of her, and she walked away, dragging one of her legs. She was vomiting up quite a bit with blood in her vomit. I thought maybe her insides were crushed. I was in a total state of panic as she is the most important thing in my life, and I took her to an Emergency animal hospital. Had to wait almost three hours to get in to see a vet, but thankfully, she had no broken bones and seems to be okay.

I would like to know if other Jenn-air doors have fallen off, as this was extremely dangerous. If my Yorkie had been a couple of inches furhter away, the door would have fallen on her head and probably would have killed her. Worse, it could have been a child instead of a dearly beloved dog. I now have vet bills to pay, a freezer full of ruined food, and my freezer door laying on my kitchen floor.

The economic damage is a freezer full of ruined food, and vet bills to pay.

In August 2006 we purchased a Jenn Air Electric Smooth Top Slide-in Range. This product is poorly designed. Its features are wonderful, if you can keep it working!! We have had three major problems in two years. First, in September, 2007, one of the multiple burners stopped working. Service man came out and ordered the part to be shipped to our home. We had to order this part four times since each time it was smashed to pieces due to virtually no packaging. The part was just thrown in a box, no wrapping or care taken.

In February 2008, the front computerized oven control panel shorted out. Some buttons worked, but we could not operate the oven. That was replaced within three weeks. On November 29, 2008, the oven panel again stopped working. I have a service call pending December 5. I spoke to the service manager at Maytag Store in Phoenix. He told me that power surges that occur about 400 times a day cause the panel to short out if a large enough surge comes through. I have read on this board that heat and water damages it, also. I wonder what will the solution be?

As a result of these problems I am without an oven for several weeks. The first time, it took 6 weeks for repair due to broken parts. The second time it was three weeks. Hopefully this time it will resolve soon. Christmas is coming and I cannot bake or entertain let alone cook for my family. I am hosting a progressive dinner on New Years and will have to borrow a kitchen if this does not get fixed in time. We paid 1500 for this appliance based on Jennair's reputation and the research we did. We purchased the extended warranty so we have one more year of coverage, but I was told that purchasing an extension may not help if I use up repairs that equal the value of the appliance. I am sure that these three repairs will cost the warranty company at least 900 total.

I purchased a Jenn-Air Downdraft stove model JGS9900BDS. I have had it a little over a year and the oven has stopped working. The top 2 rows of the digial display has also stopped working. I have not spilled anything on it, other than the normal stuff from cooking.

The only damage is that I was supposed to cook Thanksgiving Dinner this year but could not do so without an oven. And I am still trying to find someone to fix it.

We purchased a JennAir Gemini dual fuel range, model# JDR8895AAS, on 12/22/2004. Last night my wife accidentally spilled a small amount of water (half a glass) on the top of the gas range and an igniter began clicking and suddenly there was arcing and smoke coming from one of the controls located on the cook top. I had to run down to the basement to shut off the electrical supply before it stopped. There was an obvious risk of fire and or electrical shock.

If this has not happened to any one else, I would be very surprised. I am notifying you because I am not sure if there is a recall of this product or possibly should be for the safety of all consumers with this range.

There has been no physical harm but a good deal of stress was experienced. I am looking for a repair service now, although we will be ever cautious of another incident. We would certainly prefer to replace the model without this design flaw, but it is not financially possible at this time.
