Paid over 2,000 for this refrigerator at Home Depot in January 2008. Complete failure in August 2009. Repairman came out and said the "control panel" was shot, and it would cost 550.00 to fix. LG was of no assistance when I called, and told me it was out of warranty. My wife and I are updating our appliances this year and were going to buy all LG but not after this. They are expensive to buy, expensive to fix, and do not last. Stay away from LG

Gregory of Oakwood, GA October 9, 2009

Bad product. LG Refrigerator Model# LRFD21855ST. Do NOT buy LG refrigerators. We have had ours 4 years, and the ice maker has never worked properly. More problematic is the build-up of ice and frost in the freezer for the past year. My wife defrosts the freezer every month or so and a 1/2" of ice builds up in the bottom in a week. The temperature is set at -1, but my infrared digital thermometer reads 25 degrees in the freezer. The refrigerator is set to 38 degrees but is actually 46 degrees. It appears the internal fans are not working at all.

I have read that repairs are up to 950 and may not cure the problem for long. I have totally disconnected the unit and will give it one last try tomorrow when I power it back on.....if it does not work, in the trash it will go after only 4 years. 2,000 from LG & Best Buy.

John of Queen Creek, AZ October 6, 2009

Purchased this refer 7-15-07. Ice kept building up in ice bin and wateroverflowed into freezer compartment on several occasions. As items in freezer were not completely frozen at times, I increased the cold temp until it was as high as it could go. Today, 10-6-09 I decided that maybe it needed cleaning (vacuuming) in the coil area. When I pulled it away from the wall I noticed that the evaporative/cooling fan was not moving and the compressor was extremely hot. I proded the fan blade and it is now running but the compressor will not shut off even though I set the control for the lowest temp in refer and freezer.

Service rep said that these things happen and the only thing I could do is call a service rep to come and look at it to see what has to be done to repair it. If the cost is exorbitant I will buy another one but NOT LG. Two years should not be a breakeown time frame for any major appliance.

I bought LG French door refrigerator Model LF25960ST and a dishwasher. Dishwasher has had two major repairs in 2 and one half years incliding relacing the motor, The refrigerator ice maker hasnt worked properly since day one. The interior shelving and drawers have hairline cracks throught the entire refrigerator and the bottom right hand drawer brke completely off of the track. These were high end product and I thought I was buying quality because they were beautiful and pricey. This is a substandard product and should be recalled. I will never buy LG again. The company is very uncooperative and once the purchase is made the repair costs pile up.

Merle of Chattanooga, TN September 29, 2009

The ice maker on my LG side by side stopped working. The refrigerator is only 2 years old.

Jean of Johns Island, SC September 28, 2009

Once again LG has done nothing to fix the problems with my refrigerator. The ice maker does not work properly. It quit making ice, but there was one "left over" cube stuck at the top of the bar that drops the ice into the bin. Pne of the numerous customer service reps told me to turn off the icemaker, turn the freezer temp to minus 4 degrees! and place a warm cloth on the ice cube - to melt it. Leave the ice maker off for 1 1/2 hours. Well I did exactly as told and when I opened the ice maker door, the cloth had also frozen solid and I could not get it out. Next they told me to unplug the unit - I finally got the frozen cloth to melt enough to remove it. LG promised to send a repair person out - the repair person has contacted me twice, but says he is still "talking to LG." I am terrified this unit will cause a fire!

Mary of Carrollton, VA September 28, 2009

We purchased 4 major applicances last year brand new from Best Buy in Newport News, VA. We purchased an LG side by side stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and range. All stainless steel, all newest models at a cost of 6,000.00. We did not purchase warrantys and while under the one year warranty have had our dishwasher unit replaced, refrigerator doors replaced and mother board on range replaced. Now our microwave is not working at all and no longer under warranty. You can imagine our frustration and after reading all the complaints about LG products wished we would have researched our products better. We now have to make all the repairs out of our own pocket. It appears that several people have similar complaints on LG appliances. Is there any way for us to get restitution. We don't even want the products anymore as once they're fixed it appears they break again. We can't afford to replace them. What do we need to do?

Holly of Atlanta, GA September 27, 2009

Bought 1600 LG French door refrigerator...fan burns out in freezer yearly and now the housing around the lights and controls has melted causing an obvious fire hazard.

angela of Memphis, TN September 27, 2009

We have a LG three door fridge and the lights/temp module inside the fridge has over heated and melted almost causing a fire. I have read that other people are complaining about the same problem. Why isn't there a recall. My fridge is only 2 years old.

S A of CARBONDALE, PA September 25, 2009

After 1 month freezer door has rust marks showing through connot remove with polish. No satisfaction from L/G service.
