Tom of Glassboro, NJ (08/08/06)
We purchased a new LG refrigerator and within one month an error code appeared on our screen, and the fridge basically started to defrost. I contacted LG and they gave me a dispatch # to a local appliance repair shop.

Repairman came out about 2 weeks later, and supposedly repaired it, but 2 days later our fridge had the same error code.

A tech came and "repaired" it again.  Another week, we get the SAME ERROR message.  And to boot, the freezer starts to defrost, and we lose in food again.

Now, about 2 1/2 months after the purchase of the unit, we are getting the runaround from LG.  They say they won't refund, it's not their practice to do so.

My LG refrigerator has had a broken ice maker for several months and there appears to be no replacement units available to fix the problem. I purchased this refrigerator in December 2004, it broke 14 months later. The service visit to diagnose the problem cost 90 and the part itself will cost an additional 350 plus labor.

My old refrigerator worked far better than this one for 15 years. I am angry that I have to pay for this replacement part and angry that it cannot be fixed in any timely manner.

Patricia of Billings, MT July 20, 2006

Patricia of Billings MT (07/20/06)
We bought an LG refrigerator in July 2005 from Best Buy in Billings, Mt. It was delivered at the end of August 2005. We started having trouble with the defroster and icemaker in March. I called Best Buy and was sent to LG. I called LG and got the name of a repair company. I called them. They came out, complaining the whole time about LG not paying promptly on warranty work and the parts taking so long. He looked at it and left. Around a week later he came back with the part and installed it. But it was not fixed.

So I called the same repair company again, and they came back out. He looked at it and started to leave. I found a screw on the floor and showed him. He was mad and rude, came back and put the screw in somewhere, started to leave again and I told him the icemaker wiggled. It was not in solid and the door was making a noise. He told me that the icemaker was supposed to do that and he fixed the door so that it would not tilt out (like it was supposed to do) and said that would fix the problem.

In June I still had the problem. I called Best Buy, was sent to LG. LG gave me the name of another repair company. I called RN appliance out of Laurel, MT. and was told over the phone that they did not like to work on LG appliances because they did not get paid for work and parts took too long to get. So I called LG back and told them what the man had said. While I was on the phone, they called RN and said that RN would come out. They came out yesterday, June 19th. But when he looked at the freezer, he said that it ,more than just a defroster problem, that there was more wrong with it. And he refused to work on it.

He told me that if I would pay him, he would work on it. Then he told me to go to Best Buy and get them to exchange it, since it was under a year. I left and went to Best Buy and they refused to do anything. They told me to call LG. Do you get the idea here: Best Buy - LG- repair company - Best Buy - LG, etc. This is what I have been through the past several months.

I called LG last night and talked to someone who told me that a complaint was recorded July 17th, and they had 5 days to find someone to repair the refrigerator, if in that time they could not find someone to repair it, then it would be turned over to a third party, who would then be given 24 hours to find someone to repair it. If they couldn't find anyone, then the process would start on replacing the refrigerator with a new one. I feel that I have been having this problem for months so I shouldn't have to wait for their so-called experts to find a repair company. ALL I will have is a less than year old repaired refrigerator and will break again. The best indicator of future behavior is past behavior.

I have had my LG refrigerator not quite 1 year. Freezer keeps getting ice built up on back wall which has caused the motor to freeze up. Ice falls back behind the bottom drawer causing the door not to close correctly. Little tabs have broken off the soda drawer so will not pull out correctly. Had service out to fix problems and tech said that this is the same problem stated with this applicance by other consumers. E-mailed LG to send me the little brackets. Never got answer.

Food spoilage. When realized what had happened. Called tech first time...Since has used hair dryer to melt built up ice. Will never purchase another LG product. Last frig over 10 years old passed on to son, still works better than this one.

My LG refrigerator was less than 2 years old when the fan in freezer failed. Lost all food in freezer and refrigerator (cost 500+).  Parts on order for a week for an estimated repair cost of 100+.

My first refrigerator, that was manufactured in America, lasted 30+ years without a problem. It is time we demand quality products that will perform without the throw away mentality that is so prevelent in todays society.
