We bought a Tromm front-loading washer from LG about 2 and 1/2 years ago. Any consumer who values his or her time should avoid this product at all costs.

Our washer has stopped working on numerous occasions. Sometimes the washer flashes an LE code. Other times it flashes an OE code -- which looks like a DE code, but isn't. (By the way, there is also a dE code). A washer with an LE code can usually be fixed by the owner, while a washer with an OE code can sometimes be fixed by the owner.

Part of the problem is that this is an extremely high-maintenance product. The person who sold it to us at Best Buy forgot to mention that that you have to use high efficiency (HE) detergent, that you have to completely wipe down the rubber seal --and behind the rubber seal-- about every 4-5 washes with a mixture of bleach and water, that you have to clean out the hard-to-reach drain plug filter at least twice a month, and that it often takes 30 minutes or so to drain the water out of the washer whenever it stops working.

When you have a problem and call the Customer Service line, the first thing that you hear is LG's chirpy slogan Life is Good!.

Recently, after several hours on the phone, the customer service representative came to the conclusion that a service technician would be needed to fix my washer that had again stopped working. When I asked what he thought it would cost, he said he didn't know.

(By the way, the customer service representives at LG are quite polite and friendly. They act genuinely surprised when you mention that you are having a problem with one of their products.)

I then looked on the Internet. Apparently, a number of LG customers have had a problem similar to the one I experienced that resulted in the washer drain pump needing to be replaced. Parts and labor for this repair can be up to 1/2 of the cost of a new (non-LG) top-loading washer.

Yesterday, I ordered a new (non-LG) top-loading washer at Home Depot. Next Thursday, my 2 and 1/2 year old LG washer will be carted away and junked. Life is good!

It is almost inconceivable to me how a company can sell a product that often doesn't work well --or work at all, for that matter-- but refuse to step up to the plate to help make things right.

The LG front-loading washer has a small hole behind the rubber door gasket. Over time, this allows mold, mildew, and downright gunk to accumulate inside the washer. Smelly clothing, ruined clothing, and allergies appear to be associated with the repeated use of this washer.

I purchased an LG Tromm front loading washing machine several years ago along with a 5 year performance plan. I have contacted LG several times concerning the horrible smell my clothes have after washing. They will not even send a technician out to take a look at the problem as it is not a manufacturer's defect.

As long as the washer is working, it is not their problem that mold continually grows in the soap dispenser, gasket, and behind the drum. I weekly run an extra hot bleach load, clean out the dispenser and wipe the gasket daily, not to mention the door and dispenser are left open at all times. I will never purchase an LG product again.

I purchased the new TROMM front loader washer and dryer, May of 2007. Within a month the dryer was tearing up my clothes. Customer service said I needed to make sure the lint rack was all the way down. Within 4 months my towels (brand new and expensive) began to smell like mold. I would wash and wash and it would still come back. Sometimes they would even smell fresh out of the dryer but after drying once the smell would come back worse than before.

I tried Allfresh, customer service said run Sanitizer cycle and bleach often. (this is a 2.5hr cycle)Wipe down the doors and rubber inside. My washer was just occasionly leaking out the front at that time, but now it leaks with every cycle and my clothes still smell. The MOLD is crazy and I am not sure why we all have to deal with these machines. What does it take to have a recall of a machine? MOLD? false advertisement? I was told I would save water, but in fact I have to use more now just to make sure my clothes and machine do not grow mold in them.

Financially, I have had to purchase new towels and several clothing items. Enviormental effects for my family of 5 with mold being in their clothes and towels. Wasted water and increase water bill.

We purchased a LG frontloader washer and dryer Model # WM2277HW (washer) and Model# DLE5977W (Dryer) on 05/03/05 and have since had problems with both. The dryer required a booster to help get our clothes completely dry and the washer has developed a stong odor with mold and mildew growing in it since we bought it. We tried calling LG multiple times without success. We tried the ideas given to us to correct the problems but they did not work.

Our house has started to smell like mildew and our allergy symptoms have gotten worse.

Purchased my LG washer/dryer in Feb. 2006. Shortly after purchasing holes started appearing in my clothes. The short story is that 2 years later I still am getting holes in my clothes and LG has done nothing to fix the situation. I am very disappointed in the customer service and will never buy another LG product again!
