We purchased a matching washer & dryer nearly 2 years ago. The first washer was replaced as the repair person from Best Buy could not get the rocking and vibrating corrected. About 3 months after purchasing the washer we noticed all of our brand new towel sets had a strange odor when using them. The odor stayed on your skin and in the towels after they were washed. Then we noticed the same strange odor in some of our clothes.

I had to replace EVERY towel in our house with new ones. After contacting LG, I was advised to run a Sanitizing Cycle with bleach once per week, leave the doors open, wipe out the gasket and to drain that drain hose. We have tried all suggestions mentioned. The last time I called service they advised we should continue to do all of the above and to try a new product called Whirlaway.

While the washer smells less offensive immediately after using the product, the moldy, sour odor is back within 24 hours, even if the door is left open. This week I noticed that all of our new towels are beginning to retain that awful, funky sour odor. I can not continue to purchase new items because of this defect in the LG wash machine design. There are times the entire first floor of the house smells like that wash machine and, on occasion, it permeates the entire house. It's hard to believe that there is not something that can be done by LG. To have a piece of equipment that ruins your possessions, instead of leaving them clean and fresh smelling, not to mention the odor in our new home is totally unacceptable. Great concept, terribly designed. And NO CUSTOMER SERVICE to actually deal with the issue. I have friends with Whirlpool front loaders and theirs do not have an odor. So, how many complaints is acceptable for LG?

I have had to replace all towels in our home and numerous pieces of clothing due to LG's design defect. There are only 2 of us living in our home. To run an extra load using bleach to sanitize increases our expenses by 1/3 each week. Not to mention the embarrasment of explaining that offensive odor to everyone entering our home.

I too have had a problem with my clothes smelling musty since I purchased this washer. My towels smell awful and my bleach load never seems clean. I'm so disappointed after spending so much money on it. I've only owned it since March 2008.

This washing machine makes our clothes stink. When our towels get wet, like after swimming, they stink like a skunk. Where can I join the class action suit against LG?

Stinky clothes and we paid over 1,000 for this LG machine. This has been going on for two years now.

We bought our LG washer at Home Depot about 1 year ago to replace a front loading Maytag. We were told when we bought the LG that it would not have the same problem as the Maytag. The Maytag was servied many times for a mold/mildew odor. After one month we noticed a mold/mildew odor coming from the LG. . We were told to try several methods to fix the problem but nothing worked. Currently, the odor is still present and my wife has been having alergy problems that we think are associated with the mold and mildew. What do we do now?

The laundry room always smells like mold and mildew and our clothes have a bad odor.

We bought a front load LG washer (Model WM0642H) on 8/6/07. Within a few months we noticed a constant sour smell in the washer & the towels always smell like bacteria or mold. I keep up with the maintenance on the machine (clean valve, filter) have set the sanitary cycle along with bleach only in the washer, used vinegar, cleaned the dispensing trays (which quickly build up mold) - NOTHING seems to work.

I am now concerned about the actual bacteria that lingers in our towels especially. After the towels are laundered & once they get re-wet they smell sour, moldy, terrible! And yet a new issue developed - the water coming out of the wash load smelled like rotten eggs!!!! It consumed the entire house. I quickly removed the laundry & restarted the process of sanitizing the washer...bleach, vinegar, etc... I have spent an exorbitant amount of time & money experimenting on several cleaning products, detergents, techniques (smaller load) & NOTHING works. I am literally concerned about the bacteria that is harbored in our laundry. I have placed several phone calls to LG and have had no help or satisfaction.

My last phone call was placed on 11/14/08 (Danny) & I was told since my manufacturer's warranty had run out & there was nothing they could do, and since we bought an extended warranty, he recommended contacting the store where purchased. Will the problem be resolved with a new washer???
