My wife and I purchased a LG 4.0 extra large capacity washer with the steam cleaning feature as well as a LG dryer from Home Depot. Two and a half years later and every week in-between, I have to leave the washer door open and dry out the rubber gasket by the door. The machine smells like mildew and I have not been able to remove the smell with any and all types of recommended cleaning attempts. LG is a brand that I will never again invest money in. Be mindful of the products you purchase. Read any and all reviews that will guide you in the most educated decision. Prior to purchasing the LG washer and dryer combo, I purchased a Kenmore Elite French Door Refrigerator from Sears. Guess what, it is made by LG! Several months ago I had to have the faulty motherboard replaced which caused the unit to utilize more electricity than what was noted on the Yellow Energy Guide Sticker that came with the unit. LG has poor quality poducts and a dismal customer service, if you can help it, stay away from this brand and any involved with them under a different name.

I purchased an LG washer in 2006. Not that old. It stopped working and was flashing a code. I called best buy and it was going to cost me 100 just for a diagnostic evaluation. Of course, in my mind that would be cheaper than buying a new washer. The technician that I talked with told me he all ready new what was wrong with my washer. It was a sensor that went bad and happened quite often. After having the conversation and him quoting me an approximate price of at least five hundred dollars, I decided it would be cheaper to get a new washer.

Is there any way I can get some reimbursement on a three year old expensive LG washer that should not have gone bad so quickly. The technician said he had this happen frequently with these washers. I had to buy a new washer. Washers should last longer than three years and if it is a chronic problem with sensors on these washers it seems unfair that there is not a recall or something.

I have a LG washer and have had problems with it since I got it. Best Buy has been very very helpful in getting it fixed. I did buy warranty so I am getting it replaced because it has leaked and they have fixed it 4 times now and the smell is just horrible that comes from the washer. Well I got a compliment cleaning and the guy which had never done this before took off pieces that are inside the washer omg you talk about stink and full of crud it was so diguisting and so smelly so I think that is where the problem is. They designed this very terrible the water and debree goes in there but has no way to get back out. So you all may want to get you a screw driver takes those out and clean them very well. I think that when you drain the water that is why it smells so bad but not for sure. I think with this many complaints about this washer that the FDA or someone would get involved. The first time I ever drained the hose and lint collector it smelled so terrible I had to get away and I am sure it was mold because when I cleaned it with a wash cloth the cloth was black and stunk so bad I threw it away.

I purchased an LG Washer and Dryer set Within teo months of using the Washer I notice a smell coming form the inside of the washer. I used the clean cycle as the protocal called for in the instruction booklet. The smell remained then i also notice a collection of mildew around the rim or the washer. I callec LG and was insulted by the customer sevice dept. telling me that I must no be cleaning it properly. I have called LG many times and as with everly call I have made I am a fault not there product. I can not be the only one with this problem.

I paid a lot of money for my washer and dryer set. I clean it twice a month, I drain it twice a month, I leave the door open every time I use it. and I still have mildew. My bath towels smell like mildew, I purchased new ones they now smell like mildew. I have called LG and Best Buys several times. I would like my LG Washer to be replaced.

i bought all of my lg appliances at the same time. front load washer and dryer. Matching stainless electric stove, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge. I bought all of these 2 years and four months ago. The microwave door needed to be replaced a year after purchase. The washing machine shows a code of an upside down fl. The so called customer service rep couldn't tell me what the problem is and advised me to call a repair man. The closest repair person is an hour away and only comes to my area on tuesdays. he also charges 75 dollars to show up. Two years and two months after purchase, my dishwasher motor froze up. Again LG offered no help, out of warranty.I had to figure it out and fix it myself. lg refused to help me with any repairs. they stated i should have bought the extended warranty. i spent close to seven thousand dollars on their crappy products, sorry i couldn't afford an extended warranty. If you have money to throw away give it to me because i need new appliances. I can promise you it will wont be lg. I am glad to see companies stand behind their products apparently lg doesn't. Half of my stuff has broken,do yourself a favor and don't buy this junk. tell everyone you know because i will. Life is not good at lg

My old Maytag washer and dryer (approx. 23 years old) needed to be replaced. Went to American, and decided on LG appliances as they were rated well in my Consumer Report Mag. 1) Salesman didn't inform me that after washing items (one load or several), I needed to wipe under the rubber gasket that the door fits into when closed. 2) Salesman didn't inform me that approx. once a month I needed to get down on the floor and open a little door, pull out a rubber tube, take off cap and let water drain out into container. A good 2 cups of water spills out. 3) The installer "mentioned" that these tasks needed to be done on a regular basis. 4) I do both of these tasks faithfully, and yet when I open the door to my washer, it has a strong musty smell that I cannot dispel. After drying the rubber gasket lip and glass door, I leave the door open for 24-36 hours feeling it needs to be air-dried also. Haven't complained to anyone except family and friends warning them not to buy LG as it's performance and extra tasks get more difficult as I am 71 years old and have trouble bending over for extended time and once I get down on floor to drain tubing, have trouble getting up.

We have a 3 year old washing machine/dryer which pours out water every time it is in use. We contacted LG and have been referred to there service agent who attended our home to advise the problem was from poor manufacturing practices with the stainless steel welding, As LG now manufacture the same washer in plastic the stainless steel part is no longer available and we would have to replace the whole washer or try to repair this product ourselves. We then contacted LG service who replied this machine is out of warranty and would not be able to assist us with or problem.

Department of fair trading has no interest or comment on this issue. Department of fair trading was put in place to protect the consumer while being paid by our taxes. Imagine purchasing a 45,000 Car and after 3 years being told it can not be fixed scrap it and buy a new one. During this financial crisis who has a spare 1500 to replace the washer as it is every one has there hand in your pocket with the increase of Groceries, Fuel, Mortgage payments, Council rates and utilities. Fair Go

This is the second LG Lemon being replaced by PC richards, LG doesn't care about their customers or their products! I get LE errors and the machine won't work, the bearings SCREAM, it leaks all over the floor and it smells!

Jeannie of New Port Richey, FL September 14, 2009

I purchased the LG washer & dryer from Home Depot in 12/08. originally they worked fine. Now my clothes smell terrible, the dryer does not dry well and is leaving stains on my clothes. Obviously, I notice it on the light colors more but I am sure that happens with a lot of the clothes. There is no evidence of any staining in the waher or dryer drum at all. The stains look like grease stains and are permanent. This problem has ruined many of our clothes permanently. Nothing removes the stain.

I have tried numerous times to rewah the clothes to no avail. The bad smell still remains. I have followed suggestions to clean and dry rubber gasket, use bleach and run hot water wash but nothing helps. The staining is particularly bad as it has ruined many items permanently.

LG Stinks. From all the complaints about the washing machine I own it will always stink. Will also follow up with the class action lawsuit listed in complaints. When large companies take advantage of the consumer with the defective products it sells they leave no options. I will never buy anything LG again from a cell phone to a TV or anything with LG on it. I am done with them.
