Fonda of Peebles, OH June 17, 2009

I purchased several Maytag appliances in March 2002.Double oven wiring had to be replaced, hen the first time I tried to use the self cleaning feature t didn't work. This was replaced under warranty. The worste is my Maytag Z side by side. About 3-4 years ago I noticed rusting in the door around the water & ice in the door feature. I complained at the time and got no response from Maytag, but I did order Replacement parts for this area which never came and received no communication. Also I could not find a way to follow up. I really need a new freezer door for my refrigerator. I have heard some other people have had similar problems.

Mike of Coralville, IA June 9, 2009

Our Maytag range has an upper and lower oven, it is stainless steel. Shortly after turning on the upper oven self clean feature, a fire started. An attempt to cancel the self-clean failed, it would not cancel. Because the oven door locks during a self-clean, we were unable to open the door to put out the fire. Another attempt to cancel the self clean using the touch control panel failed. The door was then forceably removed and the fire was put out with flour.

Our kitchen still smells like smoke, the upper oven in ruin. 06/07/2009 House filled with smoke. Carpet, furniture upholstry and carpet all had to be cleaned. We no longer trust this unit.

I am sitting at my house for the second day that is now wasted due to the incompetence of company. On May 11th, we were supposed to have a service call between 8am-12pm. THE A&E TECHNICIAN ARRIVED 2.5 HOURS LATE. Maytag told us that the technician would be able to tell us why our oven door shattered. THE A&E TECHNICIAN COULD NOT GIVE US A REASON. Today, May 18th, we were told by company that we would be visited by the A&E technician between 8am-12pm. In fact, the A&E technician told us last week that, "we would be first on the list." At 12:15, I called and was hung up on. I called again, I was told, "...the A&E technician had a family emergency." I WAS NEVER TOLD BY A&E OF THE SITUATION. After arguing with an inept supervisor who lacks listening skills, he relayed to me that, "the technician is on his way." When asked for a time frame, he told me, "I'm not able to give you a time frame." AGAIN, A&E CAUSED ME TO LOSE MONEY BY STAYING HOME FROM WORK IN THE WORST ECONOMY SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION.

My Maytag/Magic Chef Stove, Model#CGR3765BDC,Serial#10666498YD turned itself on while my husband and I were out. We were gone for about 6-7 hours and returned home to a very hot house that had a bleach smell. We could not turn the oven off, the panel displayed the numbers 6666, I burnt the tips of my fingers trying to touch the control panel, the oven was that hot! We did'nt know whether to call the fire department or the gas company. We called an emergency into the gas company, standing by, in case we needed to call the fire department. The gas man shut the gas and electric off to the oven. Now we don't have a stove or oven and I'm scared it will do this again, even if repaired. Also, this oven always baked hotter than what the temperature displayed, and we could never touch the top of the stove while the oven was on, without getting burnt. We always thought it was that way because, it has a chrome metal finish. Now, we realize something was always wrong with this stove/oven.

Mary of Mooresville, NC May 13, 2009

We bought a Maytag Electric glass top stove/oven about 3 years ago. We were having problems while on warranty and had it fixed at no charge. Once off warranty, the oven door would not close properly. It was partially open so it could not heat properly. We had the serviceman in to repair. He ordered a new part and came back. 200. The door fell off within 6 months. Another call-120. Since then the door has fallen off most times when used.

Now we cook in it only on special occasions and we have to be careful to hold the door so it won't fall off. Once we are done using it, we take the door off until we need to use it again. Thankfully it is just my husband and I so we are able to use a toaster oven to bake for ourselves. We have spent more money for service and parts than it is worth. After reading the stories, we will not repair it again. It will go to the dump. We are not in a position to buy a new one right now so we use the toaster oven which cooks much better than the Maytag oven. We can still use the cooktop.

Cleaned ovens and they never unlocked. Whatever happened burnt out the top front burner and now the temperture of both ovens just keeps going upup up so there is a oven in our kitchen that we are unable to use. I am very unhappy that you can not find anyone that knows anything about MAGTAG....which I might add is the WORST experience I have ever had in my life.

I bought Maytag range and a Maytag combo washer/dryer unit. Both are approximately 2 years old and both are not working. Maytag has a 1 year warranty. When you call they say they made the warranty 1 year so they could lower their prices. They didn't lower their prices. Their products don't hold up, don't buy them.

Now I have to repair this darn pieces of trash at my own expense. Don't buy them!!!!

Lorraine of Bryan, TX April 2, 2009

Lorraine of Bryan TX (04/02/09)
Purchased a Maytag Gas Range Model # MGR5755QDW in Jan of 06. Have used the oven but in the last year it has not been working properly. Finally have the repairman out and he says it will take about 400 to fix. After reading all the comments on this website, not sure I want to fix it. Contacted Maytag but no answer as yet. Will update if I hear anything.
