Demetra of Cedar Hill, TX December 30, 2008

Demetra of Cedar Hill TX (12/30/08)
We purchased a maytag side by side on 5/5/07 without any problems. Then on Jan 25 the refrigertor side stopped cooling, so I called the warranty dept at maytag who uses a&e repair service, and I was told it would be 6 days before someone could come out,I advised them that I had kids at home and the food has spoiled. So a&e tech came out advised that the defroster board was out, he stated it was a flux. I called maytag customer service and advised them we had the refrigerator for only eight months and there was no way a part should have went out, so they extended my warranty for one more year.

So now 11 months later it went out again same problem, the refrigerator side was not cooling. I called maytag cust service very friendly was able to schedule the appointment within 3 days, I was the only one working at the office for the holidays and could not take off. Well the repair tech come out earlier, I was able to put him on speaker phone and he stated it was the defroster part again, he stated he would put it on defrost mode until the part came in, that was 12/24/08 and the part would be in tuesday or weds. Mean while i had email a compliant to maytag customer service, I advised them that this was the second time that this has happedned. Aisha the customer serv repre called stated that there was nothing that they could I stated to her the refrig had to be a lemon or the the part and she stated there was no such thing as a lemon, so I asked to speak to her surpervisor who was Tequlia and pretty much told me the same thing, I told her this happens anywhere between 8-ll month, and stated it would have to happen again and then it would possibly be fixed.

Well the defrost mode stopped working on sunday 12/28. I called a&e frist thing monday morning the customer service woman was really rude, she wanted to know what i wanted her to do? I explained to her that the tech stated it would last on defrost mode until the part came in, she stated he should have never told me that and she could not get any one at my home until tuesday 12/30 so I hung up and called the corporate office of whirlpool in michigan, the operator transferred me to a executive I assumed in charge of compliants her name is Carolyn S. she commonly looked up my name and number put me on hold to see where the part was advised I should have it today or Wednday and she stated while I was hold she looked up the model number it showed my model number msd2641keu had no other compliants.

So I asked her once the refrigerator was fixed what happens when it breaks down again because it will it just takes 8 to 11 months for it to do it. So she stated for one time only she would extend the warranty once again and that would be it. Which that was nice and all, but i wished i had seen this web site earlier so I could read to her all the problems everyone had with all of thier refrigerators.

I will never purchase another Maytag or Whirlpool product. I feel the same as everyone on the site, they falsely advertised themselves especially when they stated thier maytag man does no have any work because thier product is very good, wrong! What I wanted was a new refrigerator but obviously that would not do any good.

I have lost food twice at least 150.00 worth.

I purchased a Maytag Plus 6 years ago...I wanted to spend the extra money for something dependable...its broken down 3 times and today is christmas...guess what...all our food went bad while visiting family...the control panel burned out again...peice of crap. what does a brand name mean?

We have now spent 600 in repairs on a 1500 unit that should get us 10 years easily without repairs.

Two and a half years ago, I purchased a Maytag Ice-2-O French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator. Total cost exceedeed 2100. We have just replaced the control panel for a second time. Total parts and labor for yesterday's visit was more than 530. It took a very long conversation, and escalation to a supervisor to finally get credited for the parts and labor. I am still very disappointed with the refrigerator. Thank goodness I have the 15 year old Whirlpool in the garage. Despite this, the folks at Maytag were fair and helpful

I purchased a Maytag refrigerator 4 years ago for 1100 dollars. Sense the purchased the compressor went bad twice, it has had two leaks in the cooling systems, and know the electrical system has failed. I have lost a total of 300.00 dollars in food, and the customer service is not responsive. This is my last Maytag item...[they] have lost a good customer. I will tell 10,000 people about the ills of the Maytag brand.

I have asked that the refrigerator be replace. They do not replace items. This is a crime.
