I purchased a Maytag side-by-side refrigerator just over 5 years ago and the compressor stopped working. Estimated repair costs are near 700. I cannot beleive that a large appliance from a reputed manufacturer only lasts 5 years. I will be looking at manufacturers other than Maytag from now on.

We purchased a Maytag side by side refrigerator in December of 2004 (could not find the receipt) and yesterday (Sunday) it quit cooling. We contacted a Serviceman to check out the problem and he reported it as a compressor gone bad. Cost of repairs in excess of 500, ouch. He suggested we contact Maytag, as he was under the impression that the compressor had a warranty longer than the standard one year. Sure enough, the compressor is warranted for five years and the Customer Service Agent took care of the rest, in spite of the fact that i could not prove when the unit was purchased. The Customer Service agent was able to look up the unit to determine the date of purchase.

I am submitting this post to show that not everything about Maytag is bad. I have a family of six and our Maytag washer is still working after 20 years of kids. I am pleased that Maytag did the right thing

I bought the side by side Maytag refrigerator on 6-25-04. On 6-12-07 we had to replace the thermastat due to icing up in the freezer and water leaking onto the floor. The refrigerator side stop cooling. Now on 12-01-08 the same problem has accured. This is not acceptable. A new refrigerator that is 4 years old and having to have it fixed two times for the same problem. I gave up a 25 year old refrigerator ( that was not a Maytag ) with nothing wrong with it. Maytag should have a law suit put on them for selling junk.

Floor had water damage, and lost lots of food, and 104.92 that should have been paid by Maytag.

After reading your blog about how BAD Maytag refrigerators are, we have CHANGED our mind about purchasing an ICE20 MF12067AEW.  Let it be known, WE WILL NOT BUY MAYTAG based on all these poor folks stories. Thanks for saving us!!

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator Model #MSD2756ge a few years ago and have it warranted with Sears, But the condition it id now is perhaps more than Sears can handle as the freeze door is starting to rust out right under the Water & Ice dispenser The water & Ice will not shut off unless you physically open the freezer door. I expect someone to contact us regarding this poorly mage refrigerator.

A big Mess
