David of Marengo IL (10/31/08)
Bought a side by side Maytag Model MSD 2465GEW in March of 2001. On 10-28-08 the Compressor started to smoke eventual filling the entire Kitchen with smoke. There was a burning smell for approx. 30 minutes prior. Thank God we were home and also that we had already called the Fire Dept who was onsite as the heavy smoke began to come from the back of the unit. The Fire Chief determined it was the Compressor on the unit.

I purchased a mff2558kew french door refrigerator 11/08/07 from home depot in cleveland tn. On the 26th. of july 2008 the refrige compartment quit cooling. Five days later a repairman from A&Ecame out and repaced a blend door and it worked for two and a half months. Now oct.25 2008 its doing the same thing. This time called a&e again. they dindn't even come to the house a tech called me and ask what it was doing. I told him the samething he said he was going to order an update and it would be installed on the 31st. of oct.

Today is the thirty and they called and said the part was on back order would be shipped directy to me. And I was to call them to schelude an appointment for instalation. So I called maytag and told them my problem. Having spoke to several people I finnally spoke to someone in mangement named bridgett. She was nice but that doesn't fix my fridge. I'v spent money for ice plus taking time off to meet the repairman. I live in cleveland Tn. where maytag has a plant. I tried to buy locally to help. I wouldn't recomend a maytag applance to anyone. If they would only try to help. I think I'm stuck with a 1400.00 lemon.

Time off from work moving food to a icechest, buying ice daily, plus losing food. Now if they do fix it I'll always wonder is it going to be working when i get home.

Ruben of Bayamon , Puerto Rico OTHER (10/28/08)
70 months ago I bought a Maytag refrigerator. I also paid for an extended warranty agreement for 5 years. During this period, this refrigerator was repaired in multiple occasions for multiple problems (more than 10 occations). Doors continuously sweating, Ice dispenser always clogged (the whole 5 years), and lately problems with the cooling system. The service company had to change the compressor twice in 3 months. The last time 60 days prior to extended warranty to finish.

Days after the warranty expired, it stopped cooling again and the service company was called again and I had to repair it by my own since he told me it was not covered by the warranty anymore despite it was just chanced prior to service agreement expiration date. I paid for it and one month latter I had the same problem. When I called him back he told that this was caused by a defect in the cooling system that disintegrates in the inner coil that clogs the compressor and the filter; and that I better throw it out and buy a new one. Then I called another company to confirm his version. The new technician evaluated the unit and told me the compressor was burned again, that the previous compressor was not good, that it was refurbished and that the story of disintegrating inner layers wasnt real. I paid 400.00 again.

It worked for 30 days and I had to call the mechanic again since the newest compressor was burned out. He came back twice more and today it is in the same condition. I am really tired and burned out I cannot continue with this refrigerator spending any more money. The original cost was close to 2,000.00 , and I have spent an extra 700.00 trying to fix it up. I have thrown out hundreds of dollars in food during this period. Do you think it is honest and healthy to spend this money for only 70 months of service?

I have lost more than 3500.00 and I am mentally and physically tired. Actually a week without a refrigerator.

Kathy of Buffalo NY (10/22/08)
I purchased a Maytag stove and refrigerator in 2003 and in the summer of 2007 I had to have the motor replaced in the refrigerator. Now, I need to have the oven fixed on the stove. I have an F1 code and alot of beeping. I cannot believe I have to spend all this money for repairs when the appliances are not that old. When I bought them I was replacing 25 year old appliances.
