I bought a new Maytag top load washer model #MVW6500MBK and dryer model #MED6500MBK set in June 2025. In March 2026 the dryer failed and needed a bearing replacement for the drum to spin (the repair tech said this is a common issue that he sees with Maytag dryers). In May 2026 the washer failed- the lights on the control panel are intermittently out and the lid won't lock. I am currently waiting on a repair tech to come back out. I wish I hadn't replaced my old set with this new trash.

Doesn't spin the clothes as well as my older LG did. The water splashes on top of the lid; the push buttons are so hard to push to start the machines that my fingers bend over. Far too many dials to even consider setting and using them. I HATE it. Dryer YMED5605RW; washer MTW5605RW.

Washer 7232HWZ purchased August 2025 from Home Depot. I compared to other brands and relied on my previous experience with Maytag. Now I would not recommend this washer to anyone. The design abuses clothing by twisting, tangling and abrading the material. After the cycle, everything must be un-knotted and separated before putting in the dryer. It will shred older worn fabrics like Levis, which before the wash would have given me a few more years of wear. Now they are ready for the trash. This machine is not kind to your clothing!

I purchased my washing machine in November 2025. By February 2026, the machine started making a loud noise, so I contacted Home Depot, where I originally purchased the appliance. They sent a technician to inspect it, and he informed me that the machine needed to be replaced as soon as possible. When I contacted Home Depot again, they advised me to call the extended warranty company because I had purchased an extended warranty plan. However, when I contacted the warranty company, they told me that I needed to speak directly with the manufacturer. At that point, I became confused about who was responsible for handling the issue, and unfortunately, nothing was done until the washing machine completely stopped working in March 2026.
I then contacted the manufacturer company again, and they sent a technician from Flamingo Appliances to repair the machine on April 14, 2026. At that time, I was informed that the lock system was broken. However, only four days later, on April 18, the washer stopped working again. Another technician came on April 27 and determined that the water pump was broken and needed to be replaced. I was told that the part had to be ordered, so I needed to wait. Then, on May 1, another technician came to inspect whether there was any object stuck in the water pump because the warranty company initially questioned whether the repair would be covered. The technician confirmed that there was no object causing the issue and advised me to continue waiting for the replacement water pump.
In addition, I was later informed that the electrical panel also needs to be replaced, and I am still waiting for that part as well. Today is May 12, 2026, and I am still waiting for the repairs to be completed. I have now been without a functioning washing machine for approximately two months. Because of this ongoing delay, I was forced to purchase a used Samsung washer just to meet my family’s basic needs. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of urgency, communication, and customer support from Maytag and the warranty process overall. This situation has caused significant inconvenience and frustration, especially considering that the appliance was purchased only a few months ago.

Spent over $2,000 on a brand-new Maytag washer and dryer set in October 2024 thinking I was buying something reliable. Fast forward to April 2026 - barely a year and a half later and conveniently SIX MONTHS after the pathetic 1-year warranty expired - the washer completely self-destructs. Needed a new main wiring harness, top lid latch, water pump, AND main control board. Absolutely unbelievable.
This is hands down one of the biggest pieces of garbage appliances I’ve ever owned. Over $1,000 for the washer alone and it couldn’t even survive two years without a catastrophic failure. Cheaply made junk wrapped in a shiny logo. And honestly? It was terrible even BEFORE it broke. This “high-efficiency” washer is apparently so obsessed with saving water that it forgot its actual purpose is cleaning clothes. Even on MAX FILL there was never enough water to properly wash anything. Clothes constantly came out covered in white lint residue and detergent deposits. We had to add a second rinse cycle to EVERY load just to make it somewhat tolerable - and even then the clothes still looked dirty half the time.
The best part? There are reviews ALL OVER the internet from people complaining about the exact same issues. So clearly Maytag knows these machines are trash and keeps selling them anyway. Maytag used to have a reputation for quality. Now they’re just overpriced disposable appliances built to fail right after the warranty expires. I will NEVER buy another Maytag product again and I’ll make sure everyone I know avoids them too.

I bought a Maytag washer with the pet hair cleaning system. Sounded good as I have 3 GSDs. The problem is it does not, under any water level settings, add enough water. After putting a small amount in the tub it starts agitating while adding water. This is supposed to be the soak cycle but less that 1/2 of the clothes are wet during this. Eventually it start adding more. When it goes to the wash cycle, same issue, not enough water. After agitating for 5 minutes the clothes on top are still on top and are not wet. At the end of the wash cycle they are wet but still on top. Rinse is the same problem. My clothes are not getting clean and the soap is not being rinsed out even with the extra rinse.
The problem seems to be some pin head decided how much water I load needs. Even on MAX fill, not enough. Since when does some engineer type tell me what I NEED. The auto, med, high and max setting are the same not enough water. I spent close to $900 for a washer I need to babysit with a hose from the faucet to add enough water. And seeing that this "smart" machine is so slow to do anything, I'm required to monitor so I can add the water when it starts a new cycle. Like I have nothing better to do with my life than to compensate for a poor design. One pic is 5 min into wash, the other is after it is done but before draining.

Tell me they have to order parts for my brand new machine now a total of two more weeks without a washer and having to do my clothes elsewhere all because I had to buy a piece of junk Maytag. Their customer service is absolutely despicable. Whatever you do do not buy a Maytag brand.

I have a Maytag washer and dryer since 2021. I had the washer for 3 months and it stopped working. It needed a new computer board, yet Maytag would not replace it but had multiple repair visits before the board was replaced. It lasted a month and broke. I had to go to the coin laundry for six months before Maytag would replace the machine. Had the new machine for six months and same problem...for months back at the coin laundry. A family of six it became quite pricey not to mention the inconvenience. They finally replaced my Maytag lemon the second time. It has been seen four times by a Maytag repair technician since.
I purchased an extended warranty. One should know Maytag is not Maytag, it is Whirlpool, something I did not know when I made the mistake purchasing a Maytag. Speed Queen is actually the original great Maytag, the name was sold to Whirlpool. When this lemon breaks again, and I am sure it will, I am getting a Speed Queen. It threw 8 different malfunction codes. It broke down after our 8th attempt to clean clothes. Took 8 days after we bought it. Called menards they wouldn't honor anything cause we were past our 7 day mark. Called Maytag it took them 4 days to get a tech out here. Tech showed up couldn't work on our system cause he couldn't find any schematics to follow on maytag's site. He said he had to order a part and it would take 5 to 10 days to get in. He also said I had a lemon but maytag won't honor anything till I come here min. of 4 times. Well here we are on day 15 still no part and still no washer I can use. I had a very frustrating experience with Maytag customer service regarding their “10-year limited warranty” on the wash basket. Like most customers, I understood that to mean the entire basket would be covered. However, when I called for service, I was told it only applies to the stainless steel portion—not the full component. Because of that, I was expected to pay out of pocket for the part, even though the warranty labeling is misleading and gives the impression of broader coverage. That feels deceptive and not what a customer would reasonably expect.
To make matters worse, the representative offered no real help beyond repeating this limitation. When I asked to speak with a supervisor or escalate the issue, I was refused and not given any option to talk to someone with more authority. Overall, this felt like a lack of transparency and accountability. A warranty should provide peace of mind, not confusion and unexpected costs. Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others to read the fine print carefully before relying on Maytag’s warranty coverage.

These machines are absolute junk. Within six months, the control board fried. It took them three months to get a repair guy over. It took several days to get a hold of Maytag on the phone to start with. They said they were so busy and I replied that’s because you make crap products. The repair guy told me to fix my Speed Queen washer I had on the corner and it would last another 20 years. He also said he’ll fix the Maytag but it would be fried again within two years and he was right. 2.5 years old and it fried again two days ago.
Almost $900 for 2.5 years of terrible cleaning. Nothing was clean. Couldn’t even get deodorant stains from armpits and whites didn’t stay white long. I would highly recommend Speed Queen. Mine lasted 20 years after my parents gave me theirs that they had 15 years before I got it. Maytag is just Mexican junk now, so stay away please.

We purchased a new Maytag washer and dryer about 10 months ago. This is the third pair that we've owned in the last 30 years. The washer is a Maytag model # MVW7230. It was working fine for about ten months and then one day it wouldn't go through the entire wash/rinse/spin cycle. It doesn't finish and it won't spin fast enough to get the water completely out. I am now sitting on hold with Maytag customer service for the second time today for almost 30 minutes. I went through this same process when we first reported the problem. It took a week for the repair people to come out and look at it. He fiddled with it for a few minutes and said it was working as it should.
My wife then tried to do some laundry after the repairman left and it was doing the same thing. They came back out the next day, relooked at it and after communicating directly with Maytag, they determined that they needed to order some parts. That took another week. It worked properly for about six complete wash cycles and then yesterday it started doing the same thing, ie, not spinning fast enough to get the water out of the clothes. So here I am again waiting on hold for another 30 minutes waiting to speak with someone else. Now they tell me that the earliest they can have the repair folks out will be another two weeks. It's now three weeks since the problem was first reported to Maytag and it looks like it will be another Maytag service sucks! 46 minutes and still on hold and now I'm really pissed. God forbid your Maytag washer breaks because the entire repair process is an ordeal, unless you enjoy spending your life on hold!

Maytag Washer - Do not buy. Stopped working, LID locked, with a full load of Duluth Alaskan base-layer undergarments after using for a mere 7 weeks of residential use. Took nearly 6 months, multiple days off work and for 3 out of 4 service repair dates - NO call, NO show, and many frustrating phone calls. Phone calls to Maytag who promised quick service, under warranty work to experience some of the WORST customer service by Maytag's 'contracted repair company,' Diamond Factory Service, St Louis Metro. No, Maytag scheduled the 1st service call, and the 3rd; we took off work for an entire day (because the repair tech could arrive any time between 8am-4pm) and guess what?! We did and Diamond Factory was a NO CALL, NO SHOW. So you can spend your money on a new appliance 'backed' with a one year and 10 year warranties, respectively but unlike the past when a company stood behind their products, Maytag does not.
We were the ones inconvenienced, making phone calls to the DFS repair people checking on the status of the ordered parts. They certainly were not calling us over the 6 months time we were cleaning clothes in washers at laundry mats and at our family's houses, lugging baskets in and out of our vehicle instead of simply loading our clothes into the NEW $1000 piece of junk that currently is an unplugged, shiny catch-all in the basement. After 5 months of multiple calls to Diamond Factory in attempts to check the status of the ordered parts, and being on the receiving end of downright cranky, annoyed reps with no answers (and seemingly, very little empathy) a definitive timeframe or info as to when the appliance would be fixed, we went to a local shop and purchased a gently-used Speed Queen.
Well, about 3 weeks go by and Diamond Factory called to ask if we were home so they could install the parts we had been waiting for and could be here in 30 min. What? I don't work from home. But I have a piece of junk that's been taking up space in the basement for 6 mo. that I'm ready for it to be gone at this point. So I call my boss, and the very nice repair tech installs parts, (no test run to make sure it washes and drains as the other washer was hooked up) as he listens to me ** about this exhausting and frustrating experience. Such a nice guy. He was. Too bad the company he works for doesn't know how to treat people the proper way, but it's a living, I guess.
Maytag - NEVER AGAIN. NEVER again will you get my money. Now... guess I will post the ad on Marketplace for a washer still covered under warranty for 6 months. Anyone interested? By the way, when we were on the phone for the 5th or 6th time with Maytag, they did suggest and offer us an option to purchase an extended warranty since they couldn't tell us when their product would work as advertised again. Yes, sure Maytag! Id love to give you MORE of my money for a product that doesn't work to extend the warranty you promised but haven't honored yet. All I can do is shake my head and share my story. And share I will too!

From the get go I noticed it wasn't filling completely with water, even when using the deep fill option. If you don't use that, some of the clothes don't even get wet! The agitator starts working before the washer is full, which abrades the fabric causing pilling and excessive lint. Items go into the washer lint free and come out covered in lint! You can see in the slop sink filter the amount of lint produced.
The spin cycle also seems extreme and the clothes come out in a tight tangled up mess, so in addition to lint, I also have wrinkles that don't come out in the dryer. I have had under warranty "service" come out twice now and have documented the problem but stated in the end the "unit is working as designed" and Maytag will do nothing. Designed to destroy your clothing! They claim the warranty is for service only and since it's not a repairable part nothing can be done. I also asked Maytag if the had excessive quality calls for this issue or recalls. The answer was no. Clearly that's not the case. Unfortunately I did not read reviews before I purchased.
