My wife and I were sitting in our livingroom when we heard a very loud pop from the kitchen area. When we went to investigate the noise we found that the carafe part of our Mr. Coffee (this model's carafe was also a thermos) had literally exploded. I am not sure as to what may have caused this but I can tell you we had not had any coffee since around 8:00 that morning, and the pot was washed around 9:00am.

The only other damage was a minor cut to my finger when I lifted the carafe and the glass fell out.

I made coffee this AM. Poured the coffee in my cup. Poured the rest down the drain. Left the coffee pot on the counter. Ten minutes later while reading the paper, my wife and I heard a loud bang. Looked all over and finally looked inside the coffee pot and saw that the whole thermal inside burst in a million pieces. This is scary.
