There are plenty of other caffeinated catastrophes just waiting to happen. The thermos on some Mr. Coffee models has a nasty habit of exploding, some models manage to impart a taste of burning plastic to the coffee and others just plain quit working. Here are a few of the more recent complaints: Walter of Phoenix, AZ October 14, 2009 I did not try to contact any person at Mr. Coffee. My purpose for submitting this complaint is mainly a warning to all users of Mr.Coffee. I suggest all user of Mr. Coffee check the bottom of the basket that holds the coffe and the filter and see if the spring used is starting to rust. I noticed a small part of the spring in the bottom of my glass pitcher today. Perhaps I am to blame since there may have been an instruction saying to use only mineral-free water. The Mr. coffee appliance I use was a gift and I do not have the receipt. Victoria of Larkspur, CA September 30, 2009 We have bought 3 Mr. Coffee coffee makers in the last few years, each a slightly different model. The last was their top of the line. Each one had to be thrown away when water poured out through the base and flooded the counter. The last one worked only 6 months before the deluge. The cost of three defective coffee makers adds up. We will not make the mistake of buying this brand again. So sorry. I loved the machines when they worked. Larry of Rome, GA September 21, 2009 Several years back I purchased an FTX-41 Mr Coffee 12 cup coffee maker. Along with the purchase from Sears I bought a 3 year replacement agreement. At 34 months the coffee maker just quit! It was replaced by Sears with an FTX-45 in February 2008. This one failed mid August 2009. Cleaning was done on both per mfr. instructions, but neither unit would heat at all when they failed. The Mr Coffee dis-service rep. on the phone told me that they could not help since the first unit had been replaced and their warranty was only one year. Bad decision on their part! I am no longer a Mr Coffee customer or supporter. I will be a detractor and encourage others not to purchase ANY Mr Coffee products. The other thing that ticks me is their website is not being maintained. They show the service centers in Savannah, GA and Nashville, TN. NEITHER one of them now exist!!! The customer disservice rep was not aware of that. William of Montgomery, AL September 17, 2009 Mr. Coffee Espresso machine exploded. Contemplating a class-action lawsuit. Wanda of Orlando, FL September 11, 2009 We purchased a Mr. Coffee ISTX95 for our office in 2007. Within the four month of using it we realized had a problem;water starting leaking out of the maker. We set it aside for awhile used it again and it was fine. Used it again and the same problems occurred. Just tried to use it again and the same problems. We found the receipt called the Mr. Coffee Customer Care and was told the warranty was out. Explained the not frequent use of the machine and then was told to fax in receipt and information from the plug on the maker. Did that. Waited to hear a response, nothing. After two weeks, I had to call back to find out that nothing would be done about their defective machine. The customer service provided by the Jarden Co for Mr. Coffee is not great at all. For my personal use I will not support the Sunbeam Corporation dba as Jarden Co., as their products are defective. James of Jacksonville, NC September 7, 2009 I had a Mr. Coffee model FTX43 for about 2 months. It stopped brewing or took 45 minutes to brew a pot. Complained to them on their website, and after a few e-mail exchanges they replaced it. They sent an ISX43 model. After a longer period than the last, it did the same thing, only this time the LCD clock display went completely black. I've owned their simple ones with just a switch, and the switch goes back after a few months. I've owned 2 or 3 of their programmable ones with the LED clock display, and the clock fries out and the buttons stop working. justin of sebring, FL August 17, 2009 I have sent a complaint and i have not heard anything back from this company and i think iam done with this companys coffemaker it ruind our day when the stupid thing kept flowing out of it all over the place and iam realy mad about it you know.this is the last coffeemaker from mr.coffee becouse it sucks no returned response or nothing .this is wrong.thank you please return a response back to me thank you Georgia of Cincinnati, OH August 8, 2009 I bought this coffee pot about 6 months ago. The maker deeps shutting off and won't completely enpty the water well. Ialways thought these were good coffee makers but this has turned me off. Model # DATX85. Another number is 67TM E205612. I would appreciate some feed back on this plus I think it should be replaced. Denise of Caulfied, MO July 14, 2009 Me and my husband bought one of your coffee makers in Feburary, 2009. Five months later our coffee maker quit working. Now i understand that its a 'inexpensive' coffee maker, and i was alright with that. Now the part that makes me mad is we bought another one and not even two weeks later it just stopped working. I can't even return it to the store i disgarded the box. Now a result for this me and my husband will not buy another one of your products again. Farley of Tallahassee, FL July 6, 2009 We have purchased two Mr. Coffees in the last six months. After about three months a Model ISX43 CP just quit running all of the water through even though we did the cleaning cycle with vinegar twice. Then we tried a FTXSS43-2 and it did the same in about two months. It just quit running the water in about 4 cups. We are now trying a Black and Decker. I am tired of this problem.
