Lawsuit Charges Mr. Coffee Knew of Problems
Mr. Coffee Named in Scalding Lawsuit

James of Charlottesville VA writes (3/29/03): Mr. Coffe, Mod PLX20-R1130, Purchased 7/02, leaked coffee every time it brewed coffee. I finally discovered the problem: when the coffee pot was in place the lever in the back opens the exit from the coffee holder too far, and the coffee dribbles onto the yoke and over the side.

Cutting the bottom 2 inches off the lever with a pair of wire cutters completely corrected the problem.

Carolyn of Burnet TX (6/9/03):
The coffeemaker overflowed almost every time, leaving grounds and water everywhere. We talked to the company (who has a whole category on voice-mail for overflow problems) and the lady was very nice and helpful. She said to put the handle of the carafe "at about the 4:00 position, regardless of what the arrows indicate." It only helped minimally, it didn't overflow every time, just every now and then. Finally frustrated, we bought a Krups, and threw the Mr. Coffee away. When we make a full pot (12 cups) the Krups does the same thing. We have solved this problem with the Krups by only making 10 cups maximum at one time.
