Home Warranties Not Always What They Seem

Ronda of Las Vegas, NV August 17, 2009

I purchased a yearly home warranty plan in December 2008. I was supposed to receive a 50 Home Depot card for paying in full, and never received it. I contacted the company regarding this and was unable to reach them. After several attempts, and the arising need for service, I discovered the company was no longer in business. I contacted the Better Business Bureau, and there was nothing they could do and closed my case.

Elsie of Mc Calla, AL August 16, 2009

In December 2008 I contacted NHP by phone as listed on the website to purchase a home warranty. I decided to purchase a one year warranty and have the money taken out monthly by bank draft. I tried to call August 16,2009 to make sure the draft would not continue after the stated expiration date which would have been 12-17-2009. I got the recorded message that the number had been disconnected. I started researching and found that they have been sued by the state of New York and many people have lost much money! My bank is being drafted for the 33.95 even though the company is out of business. I will have that stopped tomorrow as soon as I can get to the bank.

When we googled this company we realize there are more people going through the same we are going through. What can we do to gert our money back, does this company still exist?

Sergio of Pasadena, CA August 11, 2009

Sam Araya of NHA LLC. Explained to me that he would assist me in lowering my payment. I made a payment of 1200, and he has yet to provide service or proof of progress.

Darlene of carpentersville, IL August 3, 2009

I set up a hm warrenty on March 20, 2009 with national home protection for 1 year. I had it set up where 36.79 be taken out of my checking acct on the 20th of everymonth. The first month went ok but every other month, the payment was not coming out on that day. I had to always call and ALWAYS got very very rude c/s reps and said they would talk to "accts payable" and let them know. They said "I could not" talk to them myself.

Well march, april and mays payment came out after always calling them... junes and july has not yet. So I called on July 31st to find out why ...yet again and found that the number was disconnected. There website it still up, so I clicked on "contact us" and emailed in asking for another phone number I can contact them at... to my suprise no return email. I keep calling and the number is not in service and leaves to new number to call. No SERVICE! WORSE C/s experice EVER!I should have went with HWA like I planned. I had them before and never had issues. I guess thats what I get for trying to save 8.00 a month..... LESSONED learn! DO not waste your money on National home protection.

Terrence of Killeen, TX August 1, 2009

Never received the 250 Home depot gift cards for paying 1500.00 for a 5 year plan which I have paid up front. Have had claims denied and unable to speak to anyone. With almost 4 years left on my contract and in need of service, I have been unable to reach the company to file a claim. Air conditioning not working. The one claim they did respond to was a for a broken water pipe last year I paid the sevice fee and they would not cover any repairs my house is ony 4 years old. Is there any way to recover my money?

Gerald of Killeen, TX July 31, 2009

ADD US TO LIST OF COMPLAINTS: We filed a claim on July 28, 2009 via the NHP email claims center. No response. When we attempted to call them, same answer as other complaints. No answer, their telephone has been disconnected. We also have a monthly contract fee of 44.23 debited from our bank account every month. We have been with NHP since Aug 06, so far we have been charged 1,548.00 for services.

Paul of West Bloomfield, MI July 31, 2009

With almost 2 years left on my contract and in need of service, I have been unable to reach the company to file a claim.
