Pur Water Filters

Jennifer of Belvidere, IL February 26, 2009

Jennifer of Belvidere IL (02/26/09)
I bought a Pur water faucet mount filter system about two to three months ago. The other day I noticed water coming out of the case that holds the filter. In the back is a small crack! I no longer have the receipt and can't remember what store I bought it from. I did recently buy a new filter for it and I will be taking that back and buying a different brand filter system for my faucet. I've used Pur in the past with no problems. I only replaced my last facet mount filter because it looked worn out. Very disappointed.

Bought the PUR FM-3333 water filter at Wal-Mart. When the 1st filter indicated a change after about 3 months I installed a new filter. About 3 weeks later a crack developed just below the indicator window. Tried calling for service - none of the automated menus applied to warantee problems and could not get a live person. I called during what should have been regular business hours. I have sent 3 e-mails through the PUR website in the last month - NO response.

I am stuck with the cost of the filter and 2 spare cartridges which I can't use - and the inconvenience of having to buy a replacement from a more reliable company.

14 feb. 2009, i got a valentine days kiss from the PUR COMPANY today when i used it. not welcomed, again. i've used this type for years without a problem. about 2 years ago, i changed to a dupont, (same type), because of a great deal, w/extra filters, til i ran out of them, no problems. bought a PUR in aug. 2008 at Walmart. it cracked, they replaced it on 29, oct. 2008. it cracked, they replaced it, on 6 jan. 2009.

i called them today, because, you guessed it, it cracked. they (Walmart), said they knew of no recalls for the product, but will look into it. as long as they are going to replace it, i'll going to keep taking it back for a new one. keep your receipt, We pay for it once, let them keep paying for it over and over! maybe they'll get the hint.

other than getting a little wet around here every few months, and one broken coffee cup, nothing physical, unless you count an [angry] wife.

I got my first filter, a horizontal, in March, 2008. It worked fine for a few months. Then the vegetable spray on my faucet began to leak whenever the water was on, my faucet began to shake violently, and my filter began to leak. As soon as I removed the filter, the shaking and leaking stopped. I then tried a vertical PUR and am having the same problem.

In the past Year my husband and i have bought 6 pur water filter systems and every one of them have cracked. We have have only had the newest one for one month. If you use it you get sprayed in the face. although they are afordable i think 6 is a bit much in one year don,t you agree!

The coust and being sprayed every time you get a drink of water or try to with out the taste of the cemecials.
