Pur Water Filters

Roger of Lockhart, TX August 10, 2008

Roger of Lockhart TX (08/10/08)
I have been using Pur 3 stage faucet mounted water filters for almost two years now. I have tried the silver, black and chrome models. ALL (and I repeat ALL) have developed cracks and leaks at various places (the faucet mount; the swivel mount; the current one has three pinhole leaks that squirt out from under the peep hole in various directions). I have yet to have one housing last more than one and a half filter lives.

I've tried less expensive models (don't like the taste of the water) so I guess I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a more expensive system. Shoddy product, but the price is attractive and the water tastes very good.It seems to me they should be able to improve on the housing defects.

Pitcher filtration does not do anything. Zero water pitcher removes everything. Ran water through Pur Filter, tested it and reading was 164 sames as unfiltered water. Ran water through Zero Water Filtration pitcher system and reading was 000.

Contacted PUR (Proctor & Gamble) twice and received no satisfaction. I am out nearly 100.00

Pure Flow Water Filters installed a home purification system on December 7, 2007. On January 8, 2008 a water leak was detected by our water company. Over 100,000 gallons of water had leaked and was standing in our crawl space under our house and had been doing so since the initial installation. The company admits responsibility due to improper installation but does not want to pay for the damages, nor to remove the system and cancel billing. Now we are being harrassed by the credit company that finances the system. We need help.

There is also foundation cracks due to water intrusion and mold was found. Our homeowners insurance has helped and now they are going to go after Pure Flow also. Consumers need to be aware of this company operating without liability insurance. We have also contacted the Arkansas Attorney General's office and a complaint has been filed and there is an investigation going on.

Our home was on the market when the flood occured. Due to the mold count and report and the foundation cracks our home is now worth much less. Why do we have to suffer because this company chose to not renew their liability insurance? Our life savings is in the equity of this home and now we may lose everything we have. Does that sound fair?

I emailed P&G because we had bought a faucet mounted water filter a few months ago and it had started leaking. I explained to them the location of the leak and also told them I no longer have, the receipt, box, or manual (this contained product id number). The only info I could offer was the model and that I had owned it for a few months. They emailed me the very next day and told me to expect a package within the next few weeks. I assumed they were sending a replacement part. I received my package today (only took a week) and to my surprise they sent a coupon to purchase any Pur faucet mounted water filter for free. I give them a thumbs up for service.

They have excellent service this is in no way a complaint.

I purchased a faucet mounted Pur Water Filtration System ModelFM-944/ FM-9500. After only 2 months, the unit stopped working. No water would come out at all. The red filter light wasn't on, but I disconnected it anyhow until I could get a replacement. (Now from what I read I am glad I did to prevent it from bursting.) When I did replace the filter and try to put it back on the faucet, it wouldn't tighten enough to not leak, after the third try the unit now sprays water all over and the thin filter gasket is bent inside. I know I am a novice to plumbing but this one is a no brainer. It shouldn't be this difficult to attach properly. I think with what I have read I am changing products.

No damage other than the investment in a filter system that only lasted two months.
