Royal Prestige cookware, water filters and other household goods are manufactured by the Hi Cite Corporation and sold through a nationwide network of distributors, who use the "party plan" and "person-to-person" methods -- meaning bridal fairs, "seminars" and so forth.

The company says it has instituted new policies to prevent unsavory practices by its distributors and has submitted a statement explaining its policies and practices (full text of the company's statement).

It's up to consumers to make the right decision. The company says it has improved its practices, but some consumers are still unhappy. Here are a few of the more recent complaints (and compliments) we've received:

I have been sucked into this payment for pot and pans that I NEVER USE. Everything sticks to the pans. First, they scared me by telling me that the non-stick pans that I use are bad for my health and then when I tried to cancel my order before the pots came through they threatened me with credit bureaus.

I can not stand the guy who sold me this crap. I am currently paying for the pots and pans, I am currently NOT using them. He threatened my husbands job and mine. These people are HORRIBLE people. This is NOT a good buy. My advice to anyone is DON'T DO IT!!!

I am curently paying for these pots and pans and at the end of it all I will have spent 2300 dollars.

I was shopping at a local latino supermarket when I was approached by a sales associate from Royal prestige, she and her co-worker had a display of pots and pans from Royal Prestige and explained all the WONDERS! this pan would do for me, my family and our health. I decided to buy one pan worth 300.00 when I took it home and used it I realized that it was not as great as they said it was, the food burnt and stuck to the pan.

I then decided to call them to return it and they stated that they did not accept returns but would replace the pan for me, I then had a conversation that lasted about 20 min in regards to their policies and unethical practices that I was not informed of when I purchased the pan. This gets worse, two weeks later I recieved the bill statement and realized that the pan was financed at the highest percentage ever (20 something) and after paying it off it would cost me double of what I purchased it at.

This scam is costing me my credit score because I refused to pay for it for the past two months and I feel like I was cheated out of the money that I did pay because I had no choice.

This is not a complaint; this is the best cookware ever made. We bought a set when we first married in 1982 and have expanded it over the years. We couldn't be happier with it. We plan to buy our 5 children each a set when they settle down and start their own families. People who say the food burns or sticks didn't listen to the distributor explain how it works; it is the complete opposite of typical cookware. I take the stuff camping and hunting with me to cook over coals with; when we get home, it cleans right up. I will never cook on any other kind of cookware, nor will our kids; they love how easy it is. All 5 cook , it was really easy to teach them to use it. The best thing is how little heat it takes.

About 7 years ago when I was pregnant during a demonstration at my mothers house I was convince that my child would be born healthier if I purchased the pots. My contract came out to be over 2000. I had to use my uncles account because I did not qualify unless I gave a large deposit.

Also, about a year ago my mother was invited to drawing. She was told that she had been chosen to receive money towards a brand new home. When we went to La Casa del Mexicano in East L.A. it was a demonstration on the pots. again we will suckered in to purchansing pots.

I used my credit card and 100 deposit. Months passed and we never received anyhting. Luckily they wrote my credit card number wrong and could not charge 2000 on it. My mother had to back 3 times to get her 100. However they would not give it to her instead hey said they would give her a product worth the 100.

I was in debt for a very long time. I had to consolidate all my accounts. The interest was really high. I think I made payments for 2 years.

I was called by some bridal registry show that told me i had won some vacation package. The girl i spoke to was incredibly rude and not very bright. I believe her name was amy or amber. anyway, i ended up going to the show and it was actually nice but we didnt sign up for the vacations but that company should hire brigther employees!!
