Royal Prestige cookware, water filters and other household goods are manufactured by the Hi Cite Corporation and sold through a nationwide network of distributors, who use the "party plan" and "person-to-person" methods -- meaning bridal fairs, "seminars" and so forth.

The company says it has instituted new policies to prevent unsavory practices by its distributors and has submitted a statement explaining its policies and practices (full text of the company's statement).

It's up to consumers to make the right decision. The company says it has improved its practices, but some consumers are still unhappy. Here are a few of the more recent complaints (and compliments) we've received:

Purchased a very expensive set of cookware which had a price of almost 3000.00 dollars. To find out at time of cooking that the grill and pots get burned and leaves a messy bottom. Even after a good time trying to clean it well. Very disatisfied with such an expensive product. I wish i could return it and get my money back in return of all.

There is no damage caused by it other than messy and ugly looking pots. The fact that this companies are so demanding at payment and defenetely cant be late otherwise you get reported to the credit bureau. Even if their products are worthless. and nothing for me to do in regards to at least getting a refund. I dont think is fair for this companies to do business without ethics to customers

Mr. Zepeda saw me atwork and offered me the pots, he even came to my house for demonstration. My mom and my sister were present and he said that the pots were better than others and that they can prevent illnesses like cancer, diabetes and that they cook fasterand they last longer. Royal Prestige is costing me more than 2000.00 dollars and i'm stil paying for it.

At this time i'm having a hard time paying the pots and being that the pots are so expensiveand they heat up so fast I don't let my kids use it.

My parennts who only speak Spanish were con by one of Royal Prestige's employee by the name of Kevin G. He charmed by parents by Speaking to them in Spanish and convincing them that they needed to buy this stuff if they really cared about their health. He gave my parents a very low price, almost to good to be true on a large number of cookware. This happened about over a month ago. He promised to have the stuff delivered to our house in 4 weeks and the stuff never got to our house.

It has been nearly 2 months and my parents have become so frustrated that they called Kevin and asked for a full refund. He gave my parents a bad personal check with no funds and has said that he will not return their money and doesnt care if my parents call the cops and file a police report.

First, I dont understand why he would give my parents a personal check rather than a company check. The check has all his info and his signature. My parents have contacted Kevin repeatedly and Kevin refuses to answer his calls and return any of their calls. My parents gave this guy 1100 dollars in cash and now are struggling to pay their bills thanks to this low life and his degrating company. Kevin's personal cell which he refuses to even take my calls is ----. I need some legal advice so i can get my parents money back. Please help!

My parents were ripped off out of 1100 dollars and are now struggling to pay their bills.

I have been sucked into this payment for pot and pans that I NEVER USE. Everything sticks to the pans. First, they scared me by telling me that the non-stick pans that I use are bad for my health and then when I tried to cancel my order before the pots came through they threatened me with credit bureaus.

I can not stand the guy who sold me this crap. I am currently paying for the pots and pans, I am currently NOT using them. He threatened my husbands job and mine. These people are HORRIBLE people. This is NOT a good buy. My advice to anyone is DON'T DO IT!!!

I am curently paying for these pots and pans and at the end of it all I will have spent 2300 dollars.

Marggie of Sun Valley, CA September 9, 2008

I was shopping at a local latino supermarket when I was approached by a sales associate from Royal prestige, she and her co-worker had a display of pots and pans from Royal Prestige and explained all the WONDERS! this pan would do for me, my family and our health. I decided to buy one pan worth 300.00 when I took it home and used it I realized that it was not as great as they said it was, the food burnt and stuck to the pan.

I then decided to call them to return it and they stated that they did not accept returns but would replace the pan for me, I then had a conversation that lasted about 20 min in regards to their policies and unethical practices that I was not informed of when I purchased the pan. This gets worse, two weeks later I recieved the bill statement and realized that the pan was financed at the highest percentage ever (20 something) and after paying it off it would cost me double of what I purchased it at.

This scam is costing me my credit score because I refused to pay for it for the past two months and I feel like I was cheated out of the money that I did pay because I had no choice.
