What are Viking ranges?

Whether you’re shopping for a range or a warming drawer, Viking products are known for their reliability, functionality, professional quality and attractive designs. It offers appliances for indoor and outdoor kitchens and has many colors and styles to choose from.

How long do Viking ranges last?

Your Viking range’s life expectancy is heavily influenced by how often the stove is used and how well it’s cleaned and maintained. As a general rule, most ranges last from 10 to 20 years. Gas ranges have an average life expectancy of 15 years, while electric ranges typically last for 13 years. Viking strives to be at the higher end of that scale, and it designs its ranges to compare with professional appliances known to last as long as 40 years.

Viking offers a two-year limited warranty on its products. This warranty covers workmanship or material defects and is valid from your date of purchase. Products can be returned for an exchange within 10 days of purchase, or you can return your range for repairs if you experience issues.

Viking range prices

Viking ranges typically start at around $4,000, but its larger and more luxurious models can cost more than $20,000. Its cooktops range from $1,500 to $8,000, and wall ovens generally cost around $6,000 to $14,000.

The price of any appliance depends on its size, number of burners, fuel type and the dealer’s pricing. You can request a quote online or visit one of its local dealers to get pricing on the model you’re interested in. Viking also offers a variety of promotional offers.

Ordered a Viking 6-burner cooktop, model VGSU53616BSS on 1/15/22. Estimate delivery date was supposed to be June 2022. Cooktop was received 10/6/22. I installed on 10/6/22. Worked ok, however, when I was cleaning the burners recently, I noticed a cap screw missing on the lower right burner. The cap screw secures the burner to the top surface. I wrote to Viking 4/20/26 requesting them to send a cap screw.

Customer service said that the 2-year warranty had expired. There's also a 5-year limited warranty "any burner which fails due to defective materials or workmanship in normal residential use during the third through the fifth year for the date of original retail purchase will be repaired or replaced free of charge." I wrote again, saying that the cooktop left the factory this way and requested again for Viking to mail a cap screw, qty. Customer Rep never answered by emails. I called Viking on 4/22/26, spoke to a customer rep. She said as a courtesy, they will send a cap screw.

On 4/24/26, I received an email that cooktop is out of warranty, but you can buy one for $16.22. I went to Ace Hardware and bought one for 75 cents. I tried installing, but the threaded holes were stripped, so I Loctited the screw in. Viking for a high end product, their warranty and customer serivce is awful. Warranty starts at date of purchase, note date of receiving, (took 9 months to receive). Viking employees - pretend you're on the other side, do you like what you dish out? Will never buy a Viking again. Also, had freon leaks on my Viking refrigerator. Poor quality and workmanship.

We purchased a Viking range Model VGIC54828BSS00, 5 Series, for installation in a home we used part-time in August 2023. We moved into the home full-time in March 2025 and used the large side of the oven twice; each time caused the house to fill with natural gas. We called the contractor, who inspected the oven and confirmed it was properly installed and suggested we call a Viking repair shop.

When we were eventually able to schedule someone to come, Diego ** from Viking called and reassured us that they would promptly take care of everything. Before the range was even inspected, Diego told us that they would pay half of the cost of repair the oven or would replace the entire unit. When the repair team came, they told us the oven was extremely dangerous and under no circumstances should we use it. They also told us that it never should have been installed, as the unit was either flawed at time of manufacture or damaged in transit. After I conveyed all of this to Diego, and asked that he either replace the unit or have Viking pay the full cost of repair, he ghosted me. For three months, he has refused to return my calls and text messages, despite numerous efforts to follow up.

We have a 2019 Viking Double Oven issue. The enamel paint used on the upper oven is blistering and cracking. Viking’s response ‘We understand your concern; however, based on the factory’s review, this issue has been determined not to be a factory defect. The cracking observed is related to the enamel paint and is not considered a manufacturing defect, nor is it something that can be repaired or corrected.’ This is unacceptable for a premium product! Viking Customer Service dismisses factory defects.

House 2 years old, Builder installed Viking appliances. Wall range has been an issue from day 1. Door does not fully close leaving a gap and it has gotten worse. Apparently, it is the springs that are weak from other reviews. Now the unit is taking more than 30 minutes to heat up to 400 degrees. The Viking refrigerator has been leaking water into the ice since day 2 but nothing has fixed the issue and now it is so bad after 2 hours of ice making we have 1 inch of water mixed with the ice. We have shut that down. Dishwasher has always taken hours, and the dishes are still dirty. Even with scraping and rinsing before you place them in. Neighbor next door gave up with her Viking dishwasher and gave it away and bought a brand from Home Depot.

To have someone trained in Viking come take a look is $300.00 for each appliance. Parts are around $1500, and install is added to this. Giving up and buy something else. 2 years old and out of 5 appliances made by Viking 3 are trash. The range model is VSOE1305502, can tell you it may be put together in Mississippi but the writing on the model and serial number are not in English.

I am 67 years old and have owned many nice homes and can honesty say this may be the worst piece of junk appliance we have ever purchased. Made the decision to just get rid of it about six months after purchase because was simply not going to live in a house where the oven door in the kitchen has to be propped shut with my wife's stepstool in order to use or at least keep the oven light from being on 24/7. My bad though. Should have investigated and would have found out Viking was sold to a company called Middlebury Residential and they are a complete embarrassment.

I do not recommend buying a Viking oven! We purchased a Viking oven, fridge, microwave & dishwasher. Our oven has not worked properly from the beginning. The first time this problem occurred, Viking covered the repair because it was under warranty. The same part (DSI controller) stopped working again, but it’s now out of warranty (was installed less than 3 years ago). We only used the part of the oven that had the problem twice, before it stopped working again. We’ve had the same problem multiple times. The oven doesn’t get up to temperature, making it useless! I’m now expected to pay more money to fix it! Seems like this is a defective oven since the same problem continues to occur. DO NOT buy Viking!

Would never buy one again. The print on the knobs came off after 5 years of use and they want 500$ to replace them. NUTS... They say not to wash them with soap. How are you supposed to get grease off them? Pathetic excuse and particularly for a supposed premium brand. Would never buy Viking again and strongly advise against them...

I purchased a 48” Viking series 5 gas range 4 years ago. I knew what I was buying. It is a basic model without the bells and whistles of other brands. Timers, temp probes, digital displays, etc. It is a basic cooking unit for over $14,000. I was fine with it. I did not expect the lack of quality with some of the parts. The quality of the burner top plate finish is horrible. The paint was pitted. I had it replaced when it was first delivered. That was a battle. The replacement was not much better. The finish is next to impossible to keep clean and looking like new. I own restaurants. I know what clean is. I know what products to use. Viking is not a good unit for home use. Eventually I will be mad enough to replace it. Cooking wise it is excellent.

I purchased a new Viking 3 Series French Door refrigerator with bottom freezer on 9/12/25. By 9/24/25, the refrigerator went DEAD!!!! A BRAND NEW REFRIGERATOR! No power. No refrigeration. All food items had to be removed from the unit. Upon immediate contact with Viking customer care, Mr Appliance, a certified Viking repair provider, was assigned to assess. On 9/29/25, the assessment showed a damaged/fried motherboard. Part was ordered. Days later, the motherboard was replaced. Still no power/refrigeration. The tech worked with Viking technical support to troubleshoot but no outcomes.

At this point we are at October 6th still inconvenienced with no refrigeration or compensation. The company gave push back regarding swapping out the unit. Instead, they decided to send out a second company to assess. A new company, Oceanic, came out a few days later. He replaced the motherboard. So we are at motherboard number “3”!!!! This triggered some cold air to the freezer with no lighting, no refrigeration or lights to the upper refrigerator area, and no power to the control panel on the inner lateral door. Refigerator is still unusable. The Oceanic tech ordered yet another mother board and a new upper control door panel.

As of today, 10/14/25, I have not had the further repairs to be done by Oceanic completed. I do not have a functional refrigerator unit. It has been out of commission since 9/24/25. I understand warranty, but I have made an expenditure for a supposed high-quality refrigerator that went dysfunctional in 12 days. The deplorable and disgraceful reality is that I was sold a LEMON and remain without refrigeration while the company expects me to accept the lack of service recovery and the inconveniences. The product is not holding up to the quality image of the company. Who would expect expensive Viking units to totally malfunction in less than 2 weeks of purchase. There has been no compensation.

After expressing discontent to the warranty rep and reiterating that we are WITHOUT REFRIGERATION, she stated “We will give you $250 if you go out and BUY another refrigerator to temporarily hold you over.” So instead of replacing their LEMON unit, they expect us to spend more money to buy yet another refrigerator while they take their time to fix a brand new unit that should not be in this predicament. This situation is unconscionable. I would have never expected this from this company. At this point, the unit should be switched out. How much longer do they expect me to be without refrigeration and at what point does the company take accountability for this faulty refrigerator. If the refrigerator had age, maybe we could stomach having to deal with unusual repairs but it is new!

Very very slow heating. I have had 2 other inexpensive induction stovetops and the power boil works in second. This one takes minutes and will not work consistently with a small 6 inch saucepan. Customer service was terrible - he just read me the instruction in the manual that I already had. I was then promised a service man would get in touch in 24 hours and come look at it. I never heard back from anyone.

Like seriously I spent over $30K on a Viking Tuscany 48" stove. One of the burners doesn't light and one of the oven doors doesn't close. While it likely can be fixed this is BRAND NEW!. There was obviously zero, none, nothing, QC from the factory. Totally unacceptable.

Unfortunately our Brand New Stove we haven’t used is faulty and we called for service and repairman came to work on it. He couldn’t figure it out and called tech support from Viking. Viking told him the part number he needed. When the part came in a month later. He installed it and our stove caught fire. He called Viking again and found out they gave him the wrong part number initially. It’s the reason it caught fire. We bought it in November but didn’t try to use it till February (we were out do the country). Came home and unfortunately no good. I believe a stove should last more than 4 months either way. Especially at this price point.

We’ve waited a few months at this point and while he was working on the stove it actually caught fire. They will not replace this new stove and we don’t feel comfortable keeping a stove that caught an electric fire. The unit smells like burnt electric. It’s been 8 months now total since we owned it and unfortunately still have no working stove.

I bought my Viking double wall oven because it has knobs instead of a touch-screen, an analog clock, it's American-made, and it's gorgeous. Unfortunately, it does not function reliably or predictably. While baking, it has huge temperature swings above and below the desired temperature. This is especially bad for things like cookies, with short baking times. You have no idea if they'll come out underdone, perfect, or burned. It also takes a long time to pre-heat. Putting in service claims doesn't work well, either. So far, technicians have been out 3 times and it's just as bad as it was when it was installed a year and a half ago.

The temperature control buttons go to high heat and the only way to control it is to shut it off. The microwave power is awful and the dishwasher is not any better. Will never buy this brand again. I have had 2 Viking stoves and about a year ago purchased my 3rd. I had to buy Viking again because my hood was Viking and I wanted to have consistent products. I had read that since Middleby purchased Viking, reviews were not great, but hoped I would have a different experience. Not so much. I have already had to call in warranty work 3 times. This last time, a small plastic blue button disappeared from the panel where knobs are located. I was told by company that provides warranty work that I broke this button. How? Again, my 3rd stove and nothing like this ever happened with my first 2 that were made by Viking original owners.

My neighbor who also has a Newer Viking stove has the same blue button that simply disappeared one day. I was also told by company that came out to service that the 3 and 5 series are worthless and not to use the self clean feature. I called and emailed Viking to confirm that they would not fix, and to tell them the comments that were made about their product and I never even got a return communication. They simply ignored me. My sister purchased the 5 series and has had nothing but problems with stove door not closing properly within the first month of owning. DO NOT BUY VIKING! Look at Wolf as an alternative.

We purchased our Viking Range in Feb 2021 and 4 years later we have a faulty gas regulator. It causes our gas to not always come on for both the oven and the stove top. The part is not under warranty beyond the 1 year warranty which is very disappointing and in order for this part to be replaced, my repair team is essentially taking the entire oven apart since this not an easy part to access. Aside for the faulty gas regulator on our oven, I find that the oven is very noisy, once I begin baking - the fan turns on and continues to run for about 2 hours after I am done baking as the over cools down. I would have purchased a different range if I had known how noisy and long this fan runs every time I use the oven.
