NIRBHAI of PATIALA, India July 5, 2009 we have purchased 310 litter Whirlpool Refrigerator on march 29- 2006 as per company its warranty of compressor for five years. our refrigerator does not working before so many time, we complaint to the dealer but no response of our complaint please help us as rools sungho of houston, TX June 30, 2009 I purchased Whirlpool refrigerator ( model : GS5SVAXVA00 s/n : SW2328431) thru Lowe's in Bunker Hill store in Houston TX on 7/1/08 Since that, 01/09 - motor of ice maker was gone and serviced replacement ( waite for 10 days ) and then, found air compressorer was gone on 6/26/07 and requested and complaint low quality product But they send service man on 6/30/09, but refused to repair due to waranty period was over. Technician & I called to Lowe's to verify purchase date and confirmed by Lowe's during service time. But Whirpool was denied the purchase date of 7/1/09 So I sent evidence to Whirpool, ther is no news For this time, whole food was parished due to dead refrigerator. I am still fighting with bad smell and worry about mal virus and factos inside of refrigerator. In worse, melted ice flew down the wooden floor and vented Can you believe new refrigerator has two major problem in a year? SANJEEV of New Delhi, India June 28, 2009 have purchased Whirlpool Refrigeretor on 8th June 2008 & exactly after completing 1 year's warranty, on 15th June, the cooling gas of refrigrator got finished. Have longe a complaint in customercare, they have given estimate for about Rs. 1500-2000 which includes gas refil, filter change & labour. It's really a surprising that exactly after 1 year, the appliance starts mulfuctioning. Its not a matter of money but the faith on whirlpool products. Danielle of Andover, NJ June 23, 2009 I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator last June. Less than a month after I bought it the fan blew and I had to have it replaced. Now again after less than a year I had to call to have it serviced because it was leaking water from the freezer side. The guy who came out to do the repair said that the tray that catches the water after it defrosts is cracked and is leaking through causing a big puddle to form underneath the freezer. He had to order the part because he said that he has never had to replace this part in any other refrigerator that he has repaired. So again I will have to wait until the part comes in, schedule the appointment and wait for him to come to replace the part. Due to the water sitting underneath the refrigerator it has been leaking through the floor causing a stain on my ceiling underneath Robert of Pontiac, IL June 23, 2009 Whirlpool Gold Side-by-Side Refrigerator ~6.5 years old, purchased new. Refrigerator failed lossing food. Local service tech said a rely had failed and burnt the contacts at the compressor and that unit could not be safely repaired. The plastic relay was melted and burnt. Unit did not trip circuit breaker. Lorraine of Charlotte , NC June 20, 2009 On June 18, 2009, at approximately 2:30 a.m. I awoke to the sound of my smoke alarm and my alarm company representative asking me if I would like to have them contact the Fire Department. There was smoke and the smell of something burning but no visible fire. The Fire Department located the smoke coming from the back of my refrigerator. I have contacted Whirlpool and scheduled a service appointment for tomorrow with A&E at a cost of 65. The refrigerator is a side by side Whirlpool refrigerator manufactured in 05-2003 model # ED5SHGXMT00. Based on all of the information that I have found online, this product should have been recalled in March 2009 when the Maytag refrigerators were recalled. This is clearly a saftey issue and a fire hazzard that must be brought to the attention of Whirlpool's consumers before this results in serious injury or death. On the Consumer Affairs website there are approximately 32 complaints involving Whirlpool refrigerator accidents that were caused by electrical problems where there was either smoke or fire due to a faulty relay component. I will keep you informed about what happens and which steps I take in resolving this matter. rajinder of yamuna nagar, India June 18, 2009 I have a whirlpool refreigerator. It is not working properly since last one week.It is double door and cooling is only in upper portion. The water drain out from the vegetable section regularly. No cooling in lower prtion. Local service centre is not taking is seriousely not visited to attend the complaint despite of four five reminders. Please expedite. deborah of timonium, MD June 17, 2009 I purchased a Whirpool Refrigerator Feb 2006, within 3 months the compressor fan stopped working, at this time the warranty covered the repair. Now in June 2009 the compressor fan went up, the repair bill was 268. The repairman stated that they have seen several cases of this. It seems to be that the fan was faulty from the beginning. Judy of Crescent City, FL June 17, 2009 Bought Whirlpool in the door ice dispenser refrig new 9/06. By 1/07 ice flap loose, not sealing, "repair kit" used (Whirlpool knew this probably would happen). Another "repair kit" installed 9/07 after the first repair kit failed (leaking air, not sealing. Both kits were identical, held in place by double stick tape, which I was assured is strong and would hold. No screws or anything else, yet each time you depress the ice dispenser, the full pressure is on that part held together with double stick tape. Of course, it has gfailed AGAIN, but now there is no warranty. I am angry, I will never buy another Whirlpool (or Maytag now). I will take apart the door and put in screws, and if that doesn't work, I will seal it off and not use it. I won't pay Whirlpool to put in another substandard, know it's gonna break part. I am angry. Air leaks into freezer, ice builds up in freezer, causes the regrig to run more, costs me money. Rich of Roseau, MN June 17, 2009 RECALL!?!?!!?? Another Whirlpool Gold Side by Side purchase in June of 2003. My wife came home and there was smoke in the house and smelled like electrical...she noticed the fridge had no lights. Called me and I came home to find the breaker had tripped caused by the compressor relay. It had overloaded, fried and melted the terminals on the compressor. Thank God it tripped the breaker or she would have come home to ashes. Called Whirpool they took my information and transferred me to the Safety Dept which was closed. I left a message...we'll see what happens next. Lost 200 in food. Report Your Experience
