Linda of Post Falls, ID November 14, 2009

My Husband Bobby Walker Was a Patient at SHMC and He Has Kidney Failure. Well My Son And I were in the Cafatera getting some food and my son had gotton the wrong soda and went back in to get another one and we had already gone through the line and paid for what we had bought when we were asked by a secerity officer to give him our ID after which he said my son had taken stuff without paying for it,then he said he had a picture of us leaving without paying. That secerity officer said he would check into it and call me when he found out somthing, which he never called me back.

Then Today Nov.13,2009 my son and i went in to the Emergecy Room to talk to the ED Cass Manager, When the same secerity officer came and again asked for our ID and Then He Grabed both of us and took us into his office and the said if we did give him our ID's He would call the police and handle it that way, then he called someone and gave our names to the person on the phone and said he needed us ran for warriants, then when nothing came back he got upset and said we were barded from the hospital from SHMC and Holy Family and that he was putting our pictures up and if we steped foot at either hospital we would arrested for tressapassing. I had told him my husband has to have surgery his chest to have his dialysis catherter removed soon and he said he did not care that we could not come on the properity.

A relative of mine was admitted to Sacred Heart Hospital, Spokane, WA with pneumonia. She was allergic to blood thinners and a medical alert ID band was put on her wrist as well as documented in her medical record. Once admitted she was taken off antibiotics and treated for heart failure. She and the family repeatedly requested that she not be given ANY blood thinners due to the adverse reactions she had had before. She and we were reassured each time that she would not receive any blood thinners.

Later we received a call that she was having an adverse reaction to Fragmin, a blood thinner that she had been given. She later died of complications of having been given the blood thinner. The hospital reported that it was their policy to give blood thinners to patients.

Teresa of Fresno, CA July 28, 2008

My son who is autistic. was to go to outpatient service for tests. the nurse ignored the orders of matthew thompson and my son was not service . i was promise quick service due to his diagnosis and appropriate care. instead we waited over 1 hr which for a child w/ autism that bad and taken thru the busiest part of the unit to the back where he heard screaming and multiple exposures to a hi stree environment. I wrote an incident report and complaint to the hospital. the nusre was told to sedate him so the procedure that were required could be done. I was told we have done this before and i know children like this but without the sedation since i was told by the RN it was cruel of me to sedate him is so many words again ignore the written MD's order.

so my son was after being restrainted and held horrifically. procedure mostly done and my son at 8yrs dragged from a hospital I worked for. Other places my son was service in cchc and at holy families in spokane were appropriate once aware of his diagnosis with my word only but Dr, thompson was fully aware and so was sacred heart medical center. Once dragged by security they lost there grip and ran into a parking lot not watchful of cars pulling out to a street. I pursed because I knew he would calm down with just me alone. I never want to feel that scared and frustrated again. Because I was an employee I was cautioned by the nursing association to be careful I could lose my job but I filed a complaint it was fairly supported but the RN that didn't follow the MD order was on slapped on the hand very softly and the MD should of supported his patient and he didn't.

My son could of been killed in the parking lot if a car backed out or in the streets. I went to washingtons health dept who too cautioned my job situation as did the WSNA. So since my son won't go into any hospital let alone Sacred Heart so he missed 2 appt with Dr. in neurology and a newly accuried so to speak autistic knowledgeable person since their last left who my son saw months before. I was fearful of losing my job but i wasn't the patient my son was the patient.

I would also like to persue Dr Thompson for not supporting and protecting his patients as I saw he would do with all those non employeed hospital staff. He would fight tooth and nail and had admired about him. Why not mine. If I as a nurse on a patient of his messed up I'd be in bad shape. Written up maybe let go because I endanged a pt by not following the written orders.
