Angie of Imperial, MO December 23, 2008
Angie of Imperial MO (12/23/08) The remminants from hurricane Ike came through ST. Louis on September 14. I went in our garage and noticed that it was literally pouring on top of our cars. I left several messages for our warranty manager and finally got somone to call me back. Someone did finally come out to look at our home and we were given the total runaround and told that it was leaking because we hadn't been doing our caulking like we were supposed to (our home is only 2 1/2 years old). They said they would send someone out to caulk for us but that the ruined drywall would be our responsibility to replace if we wanted to.
We then noticed mold growing in our garage (under our 4 year old's bedroom) so we were advised to have an outside company come in to see what they thought the problem was. They found the problem and wrote it up for us. We took this to Jones/Centex and they are saying the other company is wrong. They said they would send an infrared company out to see if they could find the problem and they also said they would fix the drywall. The company came out on december 10 and said Jones should provide us the report by December 12.
Not only have they not fixed the drywall with the mold, they have not provided us the report as of December 23 or told us how they are planning to fix the problem. We cannot reach anyone and cannot get anyone to call us back. We have had nothing but problems with this builder from the beginning. We have had lots of little things go wrong that they have had to come fix such as our island counter top peeling (the first month), tons of nail pops, scratched marble and now we have a HUGE crack in our basement foundation. We would NEVER build another home with this builder.
From the beginning we have never been shown any kind of customer service. Several of our neighbors are also having major issues with their homes and can get no response out of the builder.

Bob of Jersey City NJ (11/29/08) Multiple units in our condo are having water damage problems because Centex did not install a storm door which causes rain water to seep in and flood our living room wood floors.
Cold draft is also coming in this winter causing our heating bills to escalate.
wood floor water damage and cold draft coming in causing higher heating bills. Tracie of Mount Dora, FL November 21, 2008
Tracie of Mount Dora FL (11/21/08) I live in the Sullivan Ranch Community of Centex Homes. When I bought my home the community was going to have an Equine Center just out side the from gates. NOW that Centex sold close to 200 of the 600 lot in the community the equine center is no longer part of the sales. The only reson I moved in to Sullivan Ranch was to have my horses close to me.
The front of the community has pasture areas fenced off and ready for horses but Centex is trying to change the use for the land. You see the property is zoned for a equine center and the money WAS set aside for it (according to paper work from when I moved in.) So what happen to the cash. Did some big wig get a Christmas Bonus? I could have taken my 400,000. and bought property with in one mile and keep my horses with me. Good Luck to anyone who is buying a home from Centex. I hope you get what you paid for.
Derek of Houston, TX November 4, 2008
Derek of Houston TX (11/04/08) Based on my experience, I happened to know Centex Home Houston is not a responsible company. I would not deal with them again, Also I recommend home buyers to be careful about their bad quality. 1) they used a bad or cheap materials to build your property. The property I bought is a new home. but a few months later. The door, frames and wall got cracked, 2) Air conditioner system is not working strongly. I asked the third-party to check it out, They certified that it is the cheapest unit they put on every property.
3), Garage door has no openner. they said the people in charge of my property is not working there any more, What she promised me about opener installation is not effective. 4), There are many problems such as water tank, leaking and so on Please be careful. They promise you today, tomorrow they won't commit to it. There are lots of options for builders. Please don't jump into their trap or you will never get out of it .
Kerry of Richmond, VA October 4, 2008
Kerry of Richmond VA (10/04/08) The biggest problem has been regarding leaks in my basement, getting someone to act, getting them to show up, getting them to fix it, again and again, has been a constant battle for 10 months (since purchase). The house has been excavated at various points 9 times now because they only want to patch fix the problem which leads only to it becoming worse. The drywall inside had probably close to 1000 nail popouts resulting in a team of 5 spending an entire week fixing and repainting.
I was the first to move into the neighborhood and so I'm furthest along in getting things fixed, I dread the long road ahead for my neighbors, I've heard from 5 so far that also have leakage problems and nail popouts. I could list dozens of other items, and I wonder if a day will ever come that I don't have warranty requests in. Stay away from a Centex home!
My wife who works from home has to sacrifice hours of her time each week dealing with Centex. We have no faith in our basement staying dry. Is our home going to be sellable?
