Centex Homes

Kerry of Richmond VA (10/04/08)
The biggest problem has been regarding leaks in my basement, getting someone to act, getting them to show up, getting them to fix it, again and again, has been a constant battle for 10 months (since purchase). The house has been excavated at various points 9 times now because they only want to patch fix the problem which leads only to it becoming worse. The drywall inside had probably close to 1000 nail popouts resulting in a team of 5 spending an entire week fixing and repainting.

I was the first to move into the neighborhood and so I'm furthest along in getting things fixed, I dread the long road ahead for my neighbors, I've heard from 5 so far that also have leakage problems and nail popouts. I could list dozens of other items, and I wonder if a day will ever come that I don't have warranty requests in. Stay away from a Centex home!

My wife who works from home has to sacrifice hours of her time each week dealing with Centex. We have no faith in our basement staying dry. Is our home going to be sellable?

I call concerning my roof warranty and they took over 2 1/2 to get back to me. Left a message on the voicemail and Angela contacted me back and told me the warranty guy will give me a call to setup a meeting, but no call so the roof was still leaking badly and I call back and left a message stating the hole in my roof will not fix itself and Angela called me back and told me Andrew is on vaction and will contact me when he gets back; this has been 3 weeks now, when I finally got hold of Andrew he came to my home an access the problem and will get back to me,

well another 2 weeks later some guy came to the house and told my wife that he did not bring enough supplies and left. so I talk to the manager (Mr. Moore) and he told me that they will not be warranting my roof because a third party attempted to stop the leak. He said since I myself when up on the roof and put some tar to stop the leak
I became the third party, I am the home owner and there was no repair that was done the whole entire side of the roof is bad because it was leaking since day one and gotten so bad that it start coming thru the kitchen for some one to notice.

So I was told that they will not warranty my roof because I attempted to put some roof sealer to stop the leak so no mold will be growing in the attic and get my kids sick
the roof is damaged causing my attic to be damaged and wet and the roof of my kitchen

Centex knowingingly sold my husband and I a home that they knew had a sinkhole under it because Centex had problems with the sinkhole caving in as they were building the home; Centex put a bandaid repair on it and sold it to us without any disclosure; They then told us that the sinkhole was an act of God & refused to fix anything months after we bought it... Their is the crime and then the covorup..

Centex has spent 100% of their time showing their bad faith by trying to obstruct justice & prevent us from getting any compensation; The sinkhole has so far cost well over 150k in repairs. Centex has not spent a penny on us in warranty work; They said the sinkhole voided the warranty;

OUR lifesavings is gone plus we owe tens of thousands in expert witness fees...Centex would spend 200,000 dollars fighting than repairing and honoring their warranty...These people are 100% corrupt!

We purchased our new home in 09/2006 and now that we need some warranty issues to be resolved before the 2 year warranty is expired, we are getting the run around. The colors listed throughout the contract are not accurate. This included the grout colors, the interior color, the exterior color and the hardy plank colors. The painters that Centex has sent out have had to take samples from our home and color match it at a hardware store. My question is why would they give us a fake contract instead of given us the correct colors?

Now they they had taken the hardyplank from our home, they did not seal it back correctly when they attached it back to the house. THe painters had to paint the hardy plank and they did such a sloppy job that they ended up painting the water splash guards and they are not supposed to be the same color as the hardy plank. When they sent someone to correct the grout issue we are still having, they sent someone who does not speak English so he was not able to communicate with me effectively and the colors still do not match the rest of the kitchen floor. This is my 2nd Centex Home but it will be my last. I am very disappointed in the company and I will never promote this company to ANYONE!!!!! EVER!!!!!

Centex sold us a brand new home August 2007, knowling that I have severe foundation cracking and that there is no reenforcement in our monolithic slab. They put caulking in and put floors down trying to mask the problem so I would not know, which I am told is fair and deceitful trade practice. Basically they sold me a subpar home, which I would like action taken because they knowling sold me this home knowing this was an issue to begin with. Now I have had numerous engineers telling me that the foundation can not be properly fixed with the home on it. They also forgotto put control joints in which would have possibly helped for my home to get worse. As of now my home is still in movement.

Physical damage is severe cracking throughout the home, no reforcement in slab etc... Economic consequences is out of pocket expenses I have spent on engineers, geotechnical engineers, and forensic engineers, not to mention legal fees
