Maronda Homes

Carlos of Orlando FL (05/06/08)
Under litigation. 3 1/2 years into this. Bad AC installation as well as other home defects due to negligence of builder. Currently have an attorney but will like to get into a huge class action against builder. Have all the details of the case.

Mold exposure, lot of damages to property, expensive remediation and restoration.

Since we have purchased the home, part of the living room caved in due to a leaking pipe, and now the entire side of our home lost its aluminum siding due to wind. I had a contractor look at it and he said that the siding is so cheap that the nails stayed in the house, the holes holding the nails in the siding broke.

They use the cheapest material when they build these homes. If you are looking for a new fixer upper, then go ahead and buy a Maronda home.

Kyle of Melbourne, FL December 13, 2007

Kyle of Melbourne FL (12/13/07)
I purchased the home in February 2006 at the Preserve in Lake Washington, Melbourne, Florida. The tile flooring in the kitchen cracked in several places. It happened within the 6 month warranty period, so they fixed it. The guy that fixed it said they have had numerous problems with it because the concrete slab cracks from the grounds not being prepared properly before they poured the concrete. Since then the tiles and grout have cracked again.

The A/C seemed to be running all the time since I bought the home causing huge electric bills. I reported it to Maronda and they sent people over 2 times. Each time they came in and adjusted the vents saying I didnt have them pointed in the right direction. Needless to say it didn't help. I thought because it was a new home with high ceilings and most likely had very little insulation this is why the home would not stay cool. Finally the A/C just seemed to stop working all together. It wasn't blowing air at all. I called an A/C guy on my own. He came over said they never had put Freon into the A/C and that it was a common occurrence with Maronda.

Next up. I pulled the carpet from the bedrooms and living areas. Cracks are everywhere in the slab. The garage flooring has cracks everywhere too. Everyone of my neighbors have cracks in their flooring too. If they have tile in their kitchens then the tiles are cracked as well. Overall, I am unpleased with my home. Every person I talked to about Maronda Homes after my purchase told me they had heard nothing but problems about this company. Be warned.

Benjamin of West Melbourne, FL March 26, 2007

Benjamin of West Melbourne FL (03/26/07)

The Brookshire community walls are cracking (started about 2 years ago) and continue to do so (last phase homes now starting to notice).
