Karen of Palm Coast FL (04/03/09) Lucian of Monroe, OH March 19, 2009 Lucian of Monroe OH (03/19/09) From the complaint submission form: "Reports become the property of ConsumerAffairs.com Inc. and may be published, edited or discarded at our sole option." Lucian of Minroe, OH March 15, 2009 Lucian of Minroe OH (03/15/09) Doug of Pittsburgh, PA February 24, 2009 Doug of Pittsburgh PA (02/24/09) The first problem occured shortly after purchased when it was discovered the the roof had leaked in prior years and had ruined the dry wall in numerous rooms and on numerous floors. The flashing on the roof was never installed. The second problem was the siding used, being T-111 which was recalled by all makers and was the loser in a class action lawsuit. The T-111 had to be replaced in 2004 due to rain water seeping thru the walls as the T-111 was no kaput. The third issue is the Polybutulyene plumbing (PB piping; Qest E PB 2110 ASTM D3309), which is intermixed with copper and fittings. The PB piping is much cheaper tha all copper, and also fails withing 10 years of installation. The piping has leaked on numerous occassions and in all areas of the house. The kitchen, laundry room, water heater, wash tub, two full baths, and also a half bath have all had leaks and major breaks in the pipes. PB piping was recalled and outlawed in many states in the 1980's but not completely until the 1995 class action lawsuit which prohibited it from being sold any longer. The windows used in the house were also of poor quality and were part of a recall. The windows had to be replaced due to fogging and leaks.
The poor quality of this house, and the other houses in this plan, and the fact that Maronda knowingly built these homes with poor quality materials, are in fact defective homes, and acted in an unfair, deceptive and unconscionable manner speaks volumes of this builder's lack of conscious.
