Maronda Homes

Susan of Middleburg FL (10/11/08)
Bought our Maronda home in 6/2008 and have had nothing but headaches ever since!! To this Kelly person who claims Maronda Homes is so wonderful and she to lives in one and has never had any problems! Obviously she's the only one! Look around....google Maronda homes and look at the 3.2 million dollar law suit that has been won against this builder. They do slap these houses together and they leak (amazingly all in the same places!).

We spent over 8000 in solid wood floors and it didn't even take a tropical storm to make our front door leak, or the sides of the house. What's truly amazing is how we've hired 2 different and EXPENSIVE contractors to come out here and try to find the leak! COULDN'T BE DONE!!! This is not our first home, and this is absolutely the worst craftsmanship I have ever seen in my life. We have done more than REGULAR MAINTENANCE and nothing has helped!

I have spent more than 80,000 in upgrades and repairs since we've moved in here and now with the housing market as crappy as it is.....I'm screwed! I was told by Maronda that they warranty the materials, not the craftsmanship! What in the heck is that?!?!? They don't care....they've gotten their money. Getting in touch with them is like trying to call the President directly!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! THIS BUILDER SHOULD BE THROWN UNDER THE JAIL!!!!!

Maronda won't do anything to help you! You might as well suck it up!

My wife and I purchased a Maronda Home in June 2005. Until tropical story Fay,? we did not realize that the front windows on our Austin model home were defective. We contacted Maronda Homes (Orlando), and within two weeks, a contract inspector visited our home. He told us that the windows were significantly defective . . . and while he could caulk the windows, it would be like putting a band-aid on a sucking chest wound.

I subsequently contacted Maronda Homes (Orlando) again the following Monday they only allow email contacts and that was two weeks ago. No surprises here, we have not heard anything from Maronda. Honestly, these people are the WORST and I would not recommend this company to anyone. Well, maybe someone I hate.

We had to have the carpets in the front rooms adjacent to these faulty windows steam-cleaned, but until the company replaces these windows we wont know how much many more problems will result from such poor workmanship.

Thomas of Apopka FL (09/26/08)
approximately 3 weeks before Hurricane Jeanne rained in Central Florida for several days straight. The effect of the rain on our house should have been the first indication that we were dealing with deficient construction. The water seeped through our stucco and into our family room, soaking the walls and carpet. The damage was minimal and was able to be contained w/ fans, replacement of the carpet padding and special treatment to our walls to control mold.

Forward four years later to Tropical Storm Faye. The flooring on our entire first floor was upgraded 1 month previously to wood laminate. TS Faye caused rain in Floriday for 3 days straight. Once again, the constant rain from the storm soaked through the stucco and into the house, ruining one half of our laminate floors on the first floor. In addition the front door was rotted and leaking, and 4 feet of our drywall needed to be replaced along the perimeter of our foyer and dining room. Drywall was molded as a result of the moisture.

The damage from both storms as well as the cost of sealing/painting our house totaled over 10k. What was surprising to me was to see the myriad of neighbors in my community who in the weeks following the storm had placed damaged floor boards, wood flooring, and carpet remnants along their curbs to be picked up with the garbage. While Im willing to concede that one case of water damage may be a fluke, the similarity and prevalence of these occurrences is alarming.

I purchased my Maronda Home in 2007. The only issue I have had is a few cracked tiles. I called their customer service and they came out to replace the flooring that same week. During tropical storm FAY my home held up with no problems.

We own a maronda home and have been the only owner of this Geo. Washington. I know you get what you pay for and the only real complaint i have about Maronda is the front Door. My front door leaks and the wood frame has had to be repaired since we moved in. The neighbors all have the same issue with their front doors. We were told by the field rep for maronda that the reason Maronda can sell cheap is the fixtures they use (doors, windows, light fixtures) are cheap and put in to pass inspection but you should replace them all! Nice to know..It would seem that Maronda would want to take more pride in their end product and put a little more in to their building product.
