Maronda Homes

Carlos of Clermont FL (09/16/08)
Our home is only 4 years old and we are experiencing mold in our garage.

Shannon of Fruitland Park FL (09/10/08)
I had been eyeing Maronda homes for about 2 yrs before I bought one. I had researched online and read numerous complaints about the construction. I just figured there were a lot of whiners out there who had nothing better to do than complain.

We bought our house 08/2007, it was a resale that had been built 06/2006. The home was very basic and that is what I expected for the money, basically a box we could personalize and customize ourselves. All I noticed was 1 crack in the ceiling of an upstairs bedroom. No big deal just minor cosmetic imperfections.

Tropical storm Fay dropped 2 days worth of rain all over the state. About a week after the storm while in the dining room I felt the floor buckle. We had upgraded to laminate in March 2008. Upon further inspection I discovered that 1/4th of the floor and some of the drywall was wet. All I found on the exterior was a small hairline crack. That crack was not on the wall with the most dry wall damage. We've since replaced the damage.

I am not looking for a hand out or a free ride on the down with Maronda train. I want the company to take accountability for shoty workmanship. I am an insurance agent and NOT ONE SINGLE CLIENT OF MINE HAS CALLED WITH A WATER DAMAGE PROBLEM LIKE THIS!!! In fact I only had ONE client with water damage and it was a leak in the roof. My parents have lived in the same home two miles from me for 15 years and they had NO DAMAGE.

I have read the wonderul educated responses from the people who believe that homes are not water proof and they are all built the same way. Last time I checked I did not purchase a house made of straw and yes I do believe my home should be water proof. This is the 3rd home I have owned and never had a water problem before. I talked my husband into buying this home and this is what happened.

Floor damage, wall damage, possible loss of resale value.

We purchased our home 1 1/2 years ago, used. During the last tropical storm Fran we experienced major leaks in our master bedroom windows on the 2nd floor, as well as our front door. The water seemed to just come up from the ground around the entire first floor. We had to pull up our carpet in our bedroom because it was soaked, we also had to rip out all of the drywall aroud our three windows in our master bedroom.

All of our trim downstairs has now rippled along the outer walls and has to repaired. For three days all I did mop up water. IF I HAD IF NOT BEEN HOME OUR HOUSE WOULD HAVE BEEN FLOODED!!!!!!

I am now in constant worry of my childrens health due to the mold that could be growing inside my walls. I have a 1 year old and a 7 year old. I also worry about my husbands and my health due to the damage in our bedroom. we now have to save up enough money to replace the faulty windows, the front door, and the carpet repairs due to the flood.

Experienced significant water intrusion during Tropical Storm Fay. At least one room (probably more) was affected.

We are still trying to determine exactly where the water originated from. So far we have pulled up the carpet, pads, drywall and insulation from the dining room. There is still soaked paper and drywall almost three weeks later...along with mold and mildew.

Steven of Deltona, FL September 9, 2008

Steven of Deltona FL (09/09/08)
I purchased my maronda home in June of 2005. It is located in Deltona. I am the second owner. House was built in 2003. I noticed a few hairline cracks after buying but didn't think anything of it. Now after T.S F came through I had a contractor go over the house since there was water damage in a bathroom and bedroom. maronda said it just needs to be sealed and painted. They are not responsible for the cracking or water damage.

There are numerous cracks in the stucco. You can see the outline of every block in some places. The contractor said the stucco was not applied thick enough by the builder. We also noticed a large crack through the garage and continueing into the house. A large crack in the corner of the garage on the ceiling and the block in that area has disjointed from the one below it shifting the house. Contractor stated this was due to poor foundation preperation. roof truss looks warped. sags downward between trusses. House is not level anymore.

I had sunshine state insurance come out and they settled for 1,441.00. I have to replace carpet and vinyl floor in bedroom and bathroom. cut out walls and base board and replace due to mold. Have entire house preped, sealed and painted and gutters put in on the sides of house. All this is going to cost me about 3600. I am trying to get a maronda rep to come back to the house after what the contractor showed me.
