BUYER'S REMORSE at its finest. I truly learned the meaning of buyers remorse in real time. A whole rip off. The Kirby vacuum cleaner is bulky, heavy, complicated, and a full exhausting workout just using it. $5,000.00 later while still having to purchase Kirby belts, bags, shampoos, deodorizers. Carpet fresheners etc. The clunk of metal sits in my closet unused. It was a rip off. Save your self the trouble and shop for a quality vacuum cleaner and separate carpet cleaner. Check the reviews first always.

Ok, here are some facts for all those, who still think about buying one EVEN after reading thousands of negative reviews:

    1. Price: The price of the product is 90-95% commission for the numerous tiers that have to live off of that thing. Usually, 5 tiers. A large distributor, maybe even with sub distributors to conceal as much liability as passible, buy the vacuums at 110-400$. Yes, that is the "value" of the vacuum, and you can bet that Kirby themselves make at least 40% off of that too. So you are basically paying the salary of 5 people, not for the product.

    2. Quality: See No.1 and think about what you get when you pay 2000$ for a 110$ unit. Also, NONE of the units you buy are new. Every single one is a demo unit that has the dirt and bugs of 10+ houses already in it.

    3. Sales tactics. Lets start with the price: Only suckers pay anything more than around 600$ because that is the final sales price you will get the vacuum if you say NO long enough. Not 3000, not 2000, not the special military-vet-firefighters-police-circus clown price....600$. The sales people are usually the kind of people that cannot get any other job because of police records. You will not get them away easy. But the easiest way is to say that you already called police. THEN they will fly away like no tomorrow since most of them have warrants and do not want an encounter with law enforcement.

Oh and btw. There is no "I just have to sell one more and I get a vacation". No low tier salesperson even has the chance on such a thing. Don´t fall for this trick. They will try every lie possible to make you buy. Student loan, debt, I can win a vacation, I need surgery, etc. etc. All lies. Bottom line, NEVER let them in. Period. It is not the ( already overpriced) product it was 50 years ago. It is just cheap junk sold by losers.

High pressure sales, over an hour demonstration at my mother in laws. Multiple times told her no couldn't afford it. Went over to say wrap it up, salesman was packing up his stuff to leave. I left then heard that he was there and his boss showed up and stayed for an additional two hours. Absolutely awful, do not do business with these people.

I had just got home from work had my dinner plate in my hand when the gentleman knocked. The lady from the van said I don't have to buy anything but if I could listen to his presentation, he gets points for that. As he pushed his way in my home, he did a 2-hour demonstration and I kept saying I was tired and I wasn't buying anything. At one point, he tried to head up my stairs to my bedroom, without asking if I minded. He helped himself to my kitchen. Made insults about my dog. Funny how as soon as you say you aren't buying a $2400 vacuum. Finally, at 9:40, after his partner came in my home without asking and trying to persuade me to buy with different deals. They finally left. Product seemed nice but those salesmen, I do not recommend!

I was scammed by this company. I had just returned home from having a procedure and still had heavy anesthesia in my system. I don't remember signing any documents. When I felt less groggy I found the paperwork they had left behind and attempted to call the salesman to come pick up the vacuum, I was unsuccessful in contacting him. Customer service reached out days later and I explained that I did not want the product and to please come pick it up.

They refused and said that a customer has 72 hours to return it or they are stuck with it. I explained that I had reached out and how I was not in my right mind to sign anything. They did not care. The product has not been used. They use unsavory practices and scam consumers. I also noticed that they had messed up my floors and left my windows with white residue. I now have to get a lawyer involved. Do not trust this company. They also will sell you a used vacuum and tell you it is brand new.

They came into my house and unloaded all their stuff on my floor which was not a problem. I had company coming over shortly, so I asked the gentleman nicely if he could maybe stop and clean up as me and my wife were not interested. He then started getting upset and insulting me and my wife saying we didn’t care about dirt and cleaning our house. He then also left dirty filters from the vacuum all over my house without even saying anything else and left.

Guy came to the door telling me he wasn’t selling anything and asked if they could do carpet cleaning for two rooms to show me their product and get their name out. I agreed. They came the next day (20 mins late) and there were two guys in my house. I had a meeting in 5 minutes. The original guy never said anything about a demonstration so I was surprised when they said they needed me to listen as they told me about the product. I was way kinder than I should have been and went to my meeting late. I told the guy that I would be in a work meeting but that he could go ahead and vacuum my hallway and bedroom. I heard him vacuum for a few seconds and stop on and off on and off throughout my meeting.

I finished and saw that he had only cleaned a 4x4 area above my stairs. That’s all. What a joke. I thought he would clean the hallway and room as promised. He then took an hour of my time to explain all the different attachments and show me the shampoo capabilities. I had another meeting but he had to get his boss here to check on his work. I said to let me know when he arrives. He did. Left my meeting and had to spend another 20 mins talking to his boss about how I didn’t want to buy anything today. He was very aggressive about the sale. As soon as he learned that I wasn’t going to buy anything- he just said “I’m going to go”. It was very abrupt. He left and I went back to my meeting.

The other guy did eventually clean the hallway and room but he didn’t vacuum first. He just did the shampoo (which they told me creates mud if you don’t vacuum first). He left and I checked his work. He did a terrible job. Dog hair still visible and now I had wet carpet. I was really frustrated. I will NEVER buy a Kirby vacuum. It’s an absolute joke. Do not buy! Don’t even let them in. If you love the vacuum, buy a used one for 100 bucks.

The salesman came to the door. Told me they would do a full cleaning on my carpets. They only did the center of 2 stairs and made me vacuum a room to test it out. I said I wanted to think about buying it. The dude told me he hated when people said that and pressured me to buy it right now. There was two of them and I was the only one home. Stupidly I agreed. When they left I had to clean up all those test pads because they left them all over my house. I also noticed the day after they messed with the level on my vacuum so when they were comparing the vacuums my vacuum was obviously not working as well due to the level being way too high.

The return process was horrendous. I eventually just kept calling and calling. They took the vacuum back but took my contract so I wanted a return confirmation. The man who sold me the vacuum just rolled his eyes and turned his back on me. Eventually I got them to email me a return confirmation. Suffice it to say I will never buy a vacuum from them just on principle. The vacuum is nice but not worth it because of their sketchy business model. Who knows if they’ll uphold their warranties too.

It’s super easy to maintain and the darn thing just keeps impressing me! Want your house to smell like new? Bring out the Kirby! Have window blinds, Kirby can handle it! I really want to buy my daughter one. She has allergies and this whole bagless trend is not for anyone with allergies or anyone who doesn’t want to clean everything after emptying the canister that stops sucking after one room. Good old Kirby can vacuum for days and never lose power! They need to bring back the turbo spin, I love mine for the golden glitter our golden retriever leaves behind.

Kirby salesmen came to my apartment even though there were "no soliciting" signs posted throughout the complex. I didn't want to sign for the vacuum, but I wanted them to leave. My friend let them in and they were there when I got home from work. My friend was making payments, but died shortly after the stupid purchase. I would have never signed had they followed the rules of no soliciting. I also felt uncomfortable with two strangers being at my home; I did what I needed to do in order for them to get out of my place. I never have used the vacuum and I have no idea where it is today. I am now being sued by their company to pay over 2,000 dollars for a vacuum I have never used. Kirby disgusts me. Don't buy.

Avoid Kirby! I bought a Kirby vacuum from a salesman who lied about the product being new—it turned out to be used. Within one month, the belt broke, the machine started giving off a weird smell, and it stopped working altogether. I tried contacting Kirby customer service multiple times by phone and email, but never received a response. No calls. No emails. Nothing. This company is a scam-the salesman misrepresented the product and Kirby support is nonexistent. If there's ever a class-action lawsuit, I want to be included. Kirby is overpriced trash and their business practices are shady at best.

I was really impressed with the demonstration so much so that I unfortunately purchased this Kirby vacuum. I also purchased the shampoo attachment kit as well. I thought great. I only need one item for all my flooring needs. It is not simple to use. You have to school yourself to use it properly. After using shampoo kit a couple times it chewed up the roller and melted the thing the roller sat in. Called about warranty and was told they wouldn't cover it because I used it incorrectly because I did not remove roller (which was already attached the first time I used it) and clean it and make sure it was in place each time. So at a discounted price of forty some odd dollars they sent me some replacement parts. I thought ok maybe I did something incorrectly. So now I have been removing roller and cleaning it every time. I have used I maybe 4 more times since replacing parts.

Today put it together again. Started to shampoo and heard that horrifying shaking rumble again. Turned it off and took a look and lo and behold it did it again. Roller chewed up the dang on thing again. I'm willing to bet they won't replace it again. And I won't be paying for it again either. I will go purchase a steam cleaner. This was the worst thing I have ever spent my hard earned money on. The vacuum does work good but no one in my house wants to use this dinosaur or a vacuum that you have to school yourself on. And the process of using the attachment well just forget it. It's heavy, bulky and difficult to use. But it does suck literally and figuratively. Please do not waste your money on a kirby. They will not honor your warranty and it's just not worth its price at all. I'm embarrassed that I spent mine on such a piece of garbage. I'm stuck doing all the floor cleaning because no one else wants to use it.

Garbage. Didn't even make it to beyond the warranty which they refused to honor, insisting that any damages must have been from abuse because they're vacuums are so great it just couldn't possibly be shoddy workmanship. No wonder they're able to offer such a long warranty. They simply refuse to honor it and blame you for anything that goes wrong. Vacuum bag housing seams come loose and fall apart? Must have been too rough and abusive with it. Bag housing comes loose from the plastic top where it hangs from the vacuum? Same excuse. Shampooer seals fail and leak? Improperly care/negligence/abuse. An excuse for everything. Makes me wonder what they do accept accountability for. I stopped paying when they wouldn't replace/repair and they had the nerve to literally photo copy my contract, cut my signature out, tape it onto the signature line of a wage garnishment document, photo copy that, and send it to my employer!!

Talk about audacity! My employer could tell just by looking that it was a signature cut and taped from another document as you could clearly see the outline of both the cut out signature AND the tape. When she told me and showed me we both had a good laugh at the ridiculous attempt and I called the jerk at his office to let him know if he didn't wipe the bill and we both call it a loss (my loss being 500 dollars into payments without a functioning vacuum, and his loss not collecting the full sale value) that he'd find himself explaining his forgery/fraud attempt to the police and courts. He agreed, though I still think I got the bad end of the deal. 500 bucks down the drain for nothing and 40 bucks to drop the heap at my city waste disposal. I'd highly recommend staying away from these crooked sellers AND their over priced poor quality junk and shady tactics.

First of all, they called my phone. Said that they were coming to do a cleaning based on a referral from people I know (And get this, when I checked back with those people said they never gave anyone my information because). Anyway, they never gave the name of the company over the phone, and NEVER indicated that they were coming to sell a vacuum. Anyway, on this call, they said they would come and do my living room and vacuum my basement steps. They swept and mopped my living room floor, alright - with his sneakers on that he just came outside with... Meanwhile, I offer him booties so that he won't walk across the rest of my floors with his sneakers on so we can get to the basement steps he said he would vacuum. He refused the booties because he had "so much faith in the vacuum".

Fast forward, we're at the steps and he's like, "your steps are too dirty for me to clean, I don't want to step on them with my socks on." Meanwhile, he didn't ask, "can I grab my sneakers and you grab the booties?" Even though when we made the appointment they said they would do *both* services... To conclude, if someone calls you saying they want to come and do a *free* cleaning, it really IS too good to be true, SMH. These people are scammers....

P.S. He told me this vacuum costs $2400, but whenever he used any of the fancy hose attachments, they kept popping off. For $2400, I expect it to work *seamlessly*. But I forgot to add my favorite part of his demo when he demonstrated how the vacuum can also be a blower and he turned it *on my face* to prove it SMH. You see these *free* "house cleaning" folks come, RUN...

Had a friendly fella come over today to demonstrate a complimentary cleaning of a Kirby vacuum system. Yeah... It started off with a free sample of Spic and Spam multisurface cleaner (we don't use that brand preferencing more natural environmentally safe products). I was asked if I support American made and Oklahoma made items, and I said I did. The one guy snapped his fingers to the demonstrator to bring the Kirby. The first guy disappeared, and the demonstrator stayed. I told him I was not interested in purchasing, only the demonstration. So I used the opportunity to test it out on hard to reach areas: under the couch, my chair, under the coffee table, and also along the baseboards in my kitchen, living room, hallway, and entrance - areas my Shark and Roomba can't get. I have hardwood floors in our house, and just had our main floor area replaced last year (Living Room, entry, Kitchen, and Hallway).

We also use the robots, because of my lower back issues: DDD, Sciatica, Radiculopathy, Lumbar Spondylosis with the occasional herniated or bulging disc all between L1-S1 of my lower spine, and it is also mirrored in my lower neck. So I avoid sweeping or mopping when I can, and have my kids do that housework. I told the guy as much but he insisted that it was handicap friendly. After using it along the baseboards and under the heavy furniture, my back flared. He also demonstrated the tightness of the seal of the tubes and I (6'5" 225lb) pulled him (5'8" ~140lb slim build) off his feet and he almost fell and had to catch himself. He demonstrated the window cleaning part and I was not impressed with the mess made by the mop portion when he mopped the entry. The mops we use are of the swifter variety and did not leave streaks. He had to run the machine over the entry 4 times to suck up the suds and excess water.

I also saw there was no bag attachment (he lied to me saying there was and I did not see one in the boxes and bags he had) and went through at least 2 dozen filter discs turning it off every 5s. He went through 2 dozen more when he demonstrated its use on the corner of our queen mattress. He kept being persistent on the price and was very coy about it. When he handed me the binder, there were pictures and maybe 5 bullet points of a description and nothing else - no pricing. When he finally quoted a price, it was well over $3k with taxes. Even the monthly payment options and down payments still were expensive - none lower than $550/mo.

I repeatedly told him I was not interested. I also said I MIGHT be IF it was affordable. I declined three times before he got a clue. I even told him we prefer to compare and contrast and research before we make a purchase. I thanked him for his time and told him I was happy with the way we clean our house. All told it was about an 1½ h of my day wasted.

I recently encountered a Kirby Vacuum distributor sales team, and like many other reviews have stated, my experience was, at best, uncomfortable. Let me begin by admitting that there were numerous times that I should have given a firm “no” and saved myself time and discomfort, but I am a trusting person (less so after this encounter), and I sometimes get myself into these situations by not wanting to be rude. Additionally, I must emphasize that these distributors talk and move so fast that by the time you’ve even had a moment to process what is happening, they’re already in your living room assembling an enormous metal vacuum.

I got a knock on my door early in the afternoon and was greeted by a man holding a small blue bottle of dish soap. He gave me the dish soap as a “free gift” and asked me if I wouldn’t mind observing a short demo. I hesitated, and he insisted it wouldn’t be very long and that she would get paid just to show me the product. He also emphasized that this was the last demo she needed to do before she could go home. I looked over at my driveway, where a worn brown minivan was awkwardly idling and a small young lady in ill-fitting clothes was standing looking at me. Against my better judgment, I agreed to hear the pitch and sat down on the porch while they gathered their things.

I didn’t have to wait long. In a matter of moments, the man, who was clearly the young girl’s boss, had returned with a massive box and was hovering in front of my door, requesting permission to set up inside. I asked if we could do the demo on the porch, and he insisted it was an inside product. Realizing I still hadn’t learned what was being sold, I asked, “What’s the product?” to which he bizarrely responded, “It’s a product.”. Feeling more and more unsure of the situation, I led him into my living room, with the saleswoman following close behind with another smaller box and an overstuffed backpack.

Moments after setting down the massive box, the boss quickly muttered something about needing to check on another salesperson in the area, said goodbye, and sped off in the brown van. What followed was about 45 minutes of watching the saleswoman assemble and demonstrate the Kirby vacuum. The demonstration involved placing a small, white, disc-shaped filter into a compartment on the side of the vacuum and running the vacuum across my area rug for a few seconds. She would then remove the filter, gesture to the dirt that had accumulated, and set the filter down on the floor before repeating the process. She must have gone through at least a dozen filters before I built up the nerve to tell her I didn’t need to see any more.

She attempted to show me a few accessories, a black sales binder with a ton of content, but practically no information (pages after pages of pictures of the vacuum, simple diagrams showing dirt accumulating in carpet fibers, and flashy buzzwords in bright colors and exaggerated fonts) and kept trying to get me to bring out my current vacuum cleaner, but I politely told her that wasn’t necessary and that I had seen all I needed to. She asked me if I was interested, and even though I had no desire to even consider buying this vacuum, I asked her the price out of curiosity.

During her long demonstration, I googled the vacuum model to see what the price was and saw that it was available brand new online for around $2000, which is tremendously expensive for a vacuum in my opinion. She prefaced her answer by acknowledging the vacuum was expensive, then revealed the price was $2650, but quickly followed that bombshell figure up with assurances about financing options up to 4 years.

When it became clear to her that I wasn’t going to purchase it, she called her boss and slowly disassembled and repackaged the clumsy machine. I took the opportunity to make small talk about her work as a salesperson, and she told me she had only been doing this for about 3 weeks. She seemed genuinely impressed with the vacuum and believed in its value as an all-in-one cleaning solution; she even went so far as to tell me about some of her favorite accessories, talking about how the best part of her day was getting to toy around with Kirby. In hindsight, it's probable this was just another sales tactic, and she didn’t really have confidence in the product, but while most of her pitch felt newly rehearsed and a bit phony, this testimonial felt genuine in comparison.

After packing up the vacuum, I helped her lug the box outside (it was nearly as tall as her and likely weighed more) and sat with her on the porch for about ten minutes before the van pulled up in front of the house. The boss who had greeted me initially was sitting in the passenger seat, smoking, and a different man hopped out of the driver’s seat and greeted me warmly. He made a quick final attempt to ask if I would buy, but backed down respectfully when I declined and helped the saleswoman place the product in the back of the van before driving away. As they packed up, I noticed that nearly all the van’s seats were filled, presumably with other salespeople being dropped off and picked up all around the neighborhood.

The entire experience was bizarre and uncomfortable. The concept of the door-to-door vacuum salesman feels like a dated practice from the mid-1900s, and to have one come to my door was unexpected and unappreciated. I feel for the salespeople who sign up for these roles and wonder how many of them stick around for longer than a month or two, let alone how many make anywhere close to the amount they expected when they first read the job description. Like many who have sat through a similar home demonstration, I’m determined to never allow one to take up my time again, and I wonder how long this ineffective and disliked practice will still be a thing. Will our children and grandchildren still swap stories of that one time a stranger handed them a bottle of soap and took up a few hours of their time to sell them an expensive vacuum the size of a lawn mower? Here’s hoping they won’t have to.

Last may I bought a new Avalir 2 Kirby. I have had kirbys for over 30yrs. This is the first time I have had a kirby that has been broke down since November. Took it to a repair shop, they put a new belt on it and called fixed. It was already burning the belts up. Like a new belt was going to fix it, lol. All I get from kirby is the runaround. Kirby is making junk that will work for a couple of months and breaks down, then you're stuck with making payments on a product that doesn't work. Whatever you do don't buy a kirby.

Coming to someone’s door and asking to complete a survey and then barging through with multiple pieces and a sweeper then refusing to leave for 45 minutes despite me all but kicking them out is a horrible business practice. Absolutely would not purchase a $3,000 vacuum cleaner when this is the company’s business model.

Sure, buying a vacuum for $$$ could be a brag, but then your friends will see your bruised toes, scuffed up walls, and hearing aids. The “home cleaning system” is junk and is so loud your grandma in Illinois can hear it. Literally today tried to use one of the attachments to dust off my walls, shone a light on it to see my walls were streaky and the paint is now scratched in places it wasn’t before. This spaceship is so big, if you don’t move out of the way in time, it’ll take you and your wall right out. I’ve had to replace more drywall from the vacuum than than from the boys in my house. The biggest mistake of my life right now is letting that rude salesman through the front door knowing my husband would probably fall for the ruse.

Very disappointed in support after the sale. There is none. Product appears to be decent but if you can't use the product what's the point. 800 # is useless. Shamperer has issues that is probably operator error but I'm out here on an island learning on the fly.

The handle on this vacuum is awful, my hands hurt so much by the time I'm done vacuuming. It's heavy, bulky and strange steer well, at all. I have literally never regretted a decision so much. Sure, you'll have the cleanest house in all the land... If you have the energy to use this to vacuum your house and then change the attachments and go over your whole house again to get the edges and corners. Don't even ask about my poor filthy stairs... :(

Let me start by saying that I have no soliciting sign posted on my door, that is clear as day. This is the second time that this company employees/contractor or whatever has knocked ignoring the sign. They rang the doorbell, stepped back and started waving at the camera. As I was at work when the person rang the bell, I answered my Ring camera stating that there was a sign on the door, and we were not interested, and she left. Then I get another notification from her again. Then this time she and another lady are seen entering with my husband with this product in hand to demonstrate as he is coming in from work.

I opened the camera app, and they are in the house both ladies with the items, which I spoke in the camera saying, "Really Jeff," he looks at the camera and say, "Hey babe." So not only did I get home from work they were gone but he has been talked into getting this vacuum priced from between $1200 to $2200 that we do not need! This has caused a ripple in our marriage after having a really bad fight 2 days ago. I have downloaded the videos from all my cameras and will be contacting the company about ignoring the sign posted.

The girl that 1st came to my door and Craig who actually showed the vacuum were both exceptional. Both led me to believe that it would be fine if I didn't purchase that day. Their manager/sales team were pushy, demeaning, disrespectful, and incapable of acknowledging the word no! Will not EVER be purchasing a Kirby after the way I was treated! Their way of "cleaning" was extremely too long! If I had known they were going to be there for 2.5 hrs I would have never let them in, in the 1st place! Then afterwards, my "awful" Dyson pulled a bunch more stuff up out of my carpet! No wonder they were so pushy about me buying day of. So many bad reviews!

I just bought my new Avalire 2. Don’t get me wrong. I love Kirby’s, but you guys are making things difficult to put even a simple bag. Now remember bags are not cheap. So when we have to put in a bag, any dessert breaks or we have to get another one, make them stronger, please for us not to have to be clean so much just for bags.
