I have had this company since about 1997. I have not had any traffic tickets or accident claims since the 80's. My ex-wife and I were traveling back from San Antonio, Texas in my step sons car, after seeing him graduate from Air Force basic training. It was my turn to drive and I was driving south on I-45 in Houston, Texas. There was a multiple car accident there. Vehicles were swerving through the lanes avoiding debris and I was stuck in the middle and got rear ended by someone. After pulling over and making sure everyone was alright, I called AIG and explained what had just took place. I made sure I was still covered and called the police.
After making it home to Florida I contacted AIG to file a claim. AIG took my information and asked for some other information which I did not have or could get at the time, because my step son was on the road headed for his training base. A couple of days later I was able to fax the information. Since then I have called and called AIG to see if they have received my fax or needed more information. I keep leaving messages and have actually talked to other people in their office, but all she could say was that I needed to talk to my Claims Representative, which of course is unavailable, as well has her supervisor. I did receive a letter from them stating that questions still exist as to the applicability of coverage. Its been almost one month now and I have yet to know if they are going to pay for the repair.

I had a policy with AIG for several years with full coverage on two cars. When I first signed up for full coverage, AIG included full glass coverage as part of comprehensive. When one of my cars became too old to have full coverage, I changed the policy to keep only liability on one of the cars and left full coverage on another, then changed the policy to have only liability on all cars. One of the reasons, beside cars getting old, is the premium kept going up, even though I did not have any accidents or tickets and my credit history is excellent. In October I traded older car for a brand new car. I called AIG and asked for full coverage on the new car exactly as I had before. When rep. asked me about new car usage, I told him that I drive it to work 750 miles a week. I received the policy and checked the price and it was as they quoted. What was missing is full glass coverage; I discovered it only when making a claim to replace the windshield.
This crooked company quietly excluded glass coverage from the policy. I called AIG and complained and another rep. told me that I had to tell specifically that I want glass coverage, otherwise they will not provide it (even with full coverage). I asked her to send me the rules stating that I have to tell them about glass coverage. She answered, that she does not have time to argue with me all day about it. I had to pay 500.00 for windshield replacement. Now, I canceled my policy with AIG and signed up with another company and got full coverage, including glass automatically. I hope I will not have problems getting my refund from AIG like other customers.

I was in a car vs. semi accident in March 2006. This Casaulty Claims Adjuster has lost paperwork, claimed to have not received medical reports and drug his feet on everything. After everything was said and done he made an offer of 1,000.00. My physical therapy is almost 4,000.00, not to mention the surgery that may be required. I believe everything this guy does as a representative of AIG is in bad faith, including pushing me to litigate to get even my basic medical needs covered.

I did a quote online. The price was actually pretty decent...about 150 less every six months, versus my other insurance company. Plus, the benefits were nicer.
I decided to call and add AIG. Upon telling them I had a speeding ticket in Nov '02, that bumped the price up. The man then asks about an accident in 2002 and 2006. I tell him the first one was due to tire tread falling off a truck I was driving behind and hitting my windshield. The second accident was due to a young lady pulling out in front of my son. According to AIG, it doesn't matter. An accident is an accident, therefore those accidents were to be counted against me. According to the man, it's Iowa's Law.
I told him my current insurance company knew about the accidents and never raised my rates. The ending result, due to my 2002 ticket, 2002 and 2006 accidents was a difference of 500 more every six months. I told them I wasn't interested and hung up.

I got a quote for AIG insurance about 4 months ago online. The rate seemed really good, so I signed up and paid for the full 6 months. A few weeks later I got the policy in the mail and a bill for about 200.00. I called and complained because I paid in full. They told me it was misquoted and that the on-line quote is an estimate, not an actual quote. I told them to cancel and they said I had to provide proof of coverage with another policy before they would cancel.
I switched back to my old insurance company and faxed them the policy and told them to cancel. I called to confirm and they told me they will be sending me a refund, but that they will have to adjust and pro rate the policy based on the 5 days and they will bill me for it.
Months go by and I in January get a letter from a collection agency telling me I owe AIG 500.00. Then I get another letter from the agency saying I am now in active collections. I dispute the debt, ask for an explanation as to what I owe for, and provide my policy with Geico and so fourth again. I have to pay 502 for 5 days of auto insurance when I was quoted 502 for 6 months.

Called AIG to get auto coverage for my daughter that is with me every other weekend. After they told me how much it would cost I told them that I better wait since 1200 was quite a bit of money and she only needed coverage until she got her car, that her dad will be insuring. Big mistake.
They now tell me that since I disclosed the info to them that I have an underage driver in my household, I can't just say I don't want the coverage. I have to pay on this till she is 18 years of age AND at that time have to provide declaration page with ins. in her own name.
What have I done! I only wanted temporary car insurance so she could go to work tonight as I have to work too. I told them to just take her off and they said they can't since it's been disclosed. I can't imagine that I do not have the option to cancel my daughter off of my policy once she has her own car with proof of other insurance?

2 months ago, I got a quote from AIG, which was 158 for 6 months. So I switched my auto insurance from 21st Century to AIG. Last week AIG informed me to pay 291, since according to their new policy, my premium has increaseed to 449. I called the customer service, they said they gave me a wrong quote by mistake at first, and now they can do nothing but correct it. Honestly, I think it's a cheat. Since I've left 21st Century for 2 months, I have to apply for it as a new customer, and I can't get the premium as low as before.

I contacted AIG about insurance for my car, I filled out an online request for a quote, the initial quote I got back was 108 a month based on the info I gave them online, then I ad to contact broker for AIG to finalise the quote and get it started. I informed her that I was in an accident that I was cited for a year previous to now, she had told me that the accident did in fact show up on the report she got back, and she proceeded to finalize the quote based on the final information from me and the reports, the monthly payments went up to 134, which was fine, because I knew it was cause of the accident.
Well after a couple of weeks of searching for cheaper insurance I chose to go with AIG based on the 134 a month premium, but when I went to start the policy, the quote they had on file for me went up to 199/month, I wondered what was going on, they searched through customer service records about my quote and could find absolutely no reason for the rates to go up, but they could do nothing about it, so it was still cheaper then my previous policy, so I went and spoke with a supervisor to get the policy started after being told there was nothing she could do to change the rates now.
So we went ahead and started the policy, got a binder from her explaining the coverage and the rates and monthly payments. Well then today, I got the final billing sheet in the mail outlining the new changes that the supervisor and I discussed, and now this billing sheet says that my monthly payments are 286, so now my payments have more then doubled from my original quote of 134 a month.

I got a new car and my agent found me a new insurance carrier. My agent had me sign all the paperwork at the end of August to cancel AIG and took care of letting them know about the switch.
Since then AIG has turned me over to collections!
My agent and I have repeatedly talked to AIG and I have a letter from them stating that I don't owe anything. The collection company keeps telling me that AIG can electronically take care of removing this from collections. I call them eveyday but it is still in collections.

My Ford F-250, for which I had FULL coverage (500 deductible) with AIG, was stolen in the early evening of Oct. 13, 2005. I reported the theft as soon as I got a ride home that same evening. I was told to arrange for a rental car myself and that I could have AIG direct billed. I was forced to pay myself and get reimbursed later. The paperwork for reporting the claim took several business days to arrive and was incomplete. My adjuster was changed in the period between the first paperwork arriving and the other forms that I had to call to request.
I filled out all the paperwork, TO THE LETTER, including hunting up a receipt for the camper shell, pictures of the truck with the shell (luckily I had a couple!), transfer of title to AIG, etc., etc. By the time I got the proper paperwork and PROMPTLY turned it all in, 16 days had passed since the theft! The day AFTER I mailed in the paperwork, my vehicle was found. I had already signed the vehicle over to AIG, but their many delays resulted in them not having processed the paperwork before the vehicle was recovered, in sad shape, big surprise.
I called AIG again and arranged to have the damage inspected and they did so and okayed the shop I was to take it to for repair. Now 24 days had passed since the theft. The policy states a 30-day rental time limit, but I was never informed that I was running out of time. The MAJOR repairs would clear take WEEKS to be completed. The did - to the tune of 6 weeks (excessive), but AIG would have nothing to do with the repair shop. I had to do all the legwork and calling on my own. I was to be "reimbursed".
This is a fabulous strategy for AIG - they take no risk. Only their customers suffer if repairs take "too long". Upon completion, the repairs were about 150 dollars (AIG approved, according to the paperwork from the body shop) more than the original estimate (a pittance, compared with the approx. 6700 total). AIG refused to pay this difference, nor would they pay for the tow and vehicle storage for the 2 days between police recovery and my being able to recover it (recovery reported to me late on a Sat. evening), nor the relicensing/retitling/reregistration of the truck required for me to legally drive it to be examined by AIG and then repaired.
The adjuster was clearly very inexperienced and did not return my calls regularly, inform me (until I submitted my claim for reimbursement, that is) that I needed to go without a car for a month to avoid paying over a thousand to the rental car company, or respond in any way to the mountain of genuine documentation in the form of receipts that I submitted. He merely sent out the minimum check (30-day rental reimbursement) and a check for the original estimate (minus my deductible, of course) made out to the Bank with which I have my auto loan and to me.
Odd, because that only applies if it's a total loss and we're paying off the loan. I had to wait 2 hours in the bank office to have them figure out how to sign the 2-party check over to me and then over again to the repair shop. Had AIG made the check out properly to the repair shop (or heaven-forbid, deal with them DIRECTLY), none of this nonsense would have occurred.
