Bernadette of Cohoes, NY June 2, 2009

Injured in an auto accident, but my auto insurance company sent me to an IME doctor who is now dening my surgery. Despite numerous medical records to dispute their denial. Have to suffer in pain on a daily basis, affects my quality of life not having the surgery.

Shannon of Sevierville, TN May 26, 2009

I visited the Allstate Insurance website to set up a policy for car insurance. I completed all of the information requested, including my billing information. At the end of the session I received an error message stating that the request could not be processed online, and it gave me a number to call. I did so, and set up my policy. At the conclusion of the call, I authorized Allstate to transfer the down payment from my checking account.

Afterwards, I checked my bank statement and found that the original online request also deducted a down payment in addition to the one I completed on the phone. I called the company and was passed from person to person several times before they told me it would be 48 hours before they could process the refund. At the end of this period I called back and was informed that it would be 19 days before I would see my money returned to me. Their reason was that it needed time to process through the system. It only took them seconds to wrongfully take my money, but it's going to take them weeks to return it.

Meanwhile, my checking account is now in overdraft and my budget is screwed.

John of McHenry, IL May 22, 2009

We have had Allstate insurance coverage on our home and 2 cars for approx. 5 years. No claims ever! Recently my wife noticed they were significantly increasing our rates and she called to find out why. She was told it was because she had opened up a new bank account and credit card. We have had no defaults, closed no other banking or credit accts., nor have we borrowed or otherwise increased our overall credit debt. Why does someone else thinking you qualify for more credit somehow affect ones standing with an insurance company?

Anyway, shortly after this, we received a piece of what I had previously considered 'junk' mail from Liberty Mutual - my wife called, spent about an hour on the phone and ultimately was quoted an amount that was less than HALF what Allstate wanted to charge us AND was even lower than what we had been paying previously. We switched then and there. Lessons learned - 1) If you have Allstate now start shopping around and get away from them. AND 2) Scan your junk mail... in some cases it might not be junk and could save you money.

Mohamed of Staten Island, NY May 19, 2009

On Feb 04 2009 I got a quote for my auto insurance from Allstate web site for 6 month (643.60) paid by my credit card in full in advance. Effective day 02/09/2009. On Feb 05 2009 (643.60) have been charged to my credit card. On Feb 06 2009 I contact the customer service to ask for my insurance policy number and user login information to my policy account only to know the my policy have been cancelled. when I asked for the reason they said (serious minor traffic violation) also they said they have to offer me 1 month insurance and they charged me (139.10). on Feb 09 2009 they refund me (504.50). I contact the customer service because I don't agree with the new quote they charged me. After speaking to a supervisor they said they can't adjust the charge but they can cancel the policy on the effective day. Which mean I will have to coverage at all and they will refund me in full (within 2 weeks). I have my insurance with another company effective day on Feb 11th 2009. after 3 weeks I called the company to ask about my refund they said it should be paid back with couple of days. After another week waiting I filed a complaint with my credit card company for a refund. The credit card investigated the matter and refund me (139.10) since the company didn't respond to them with evidence. But now I received 2 letters with a balance of the cancelled amount (139.10). After speaking with customer service they asked me to send my insurance information from the new company showing me effective day. I explained to them that I cancelled this policy on the effective day. Also I didn't use it at all and that I refuse to provide such information to them "also that no one asked for this evidence from me from all that time". after asking to speak to a supervisor. they transfer me to another lady she said she will write to cancellation department to explain that I cancelled the policy on effective day to find out at the end that she is not s supervisor and that she is another customer rep. i have no trust for Thsi Company or they the way they practice business. I believed I been harassed with no mistake from my side. I would provide my new insurance information to you if requested but to this company. My final notice to pay this balance came on May 13th 2009. Harassment to pay money for service not provided Thank you

Matthew of Helotes, TX May 1, 2009

I was at a complete stop in traffic for at least 7 seconds when I saw a car (Toyota Tundra) approaching very fast. The driver wasn't paying attention and when he finally noticed me and hit is brakes he couldn't stop in time and hit me at a high rate of speed. This pushed me into the car in front of me (Ford F150). The Toyota hit me flush, somehow only causing 2 deep scratches about two feet inwards from the left and right ends of the bumper. The Ford had a lift so the bed of the Ford missed my front bumper and headlights and instead made contact with my hood, which crumpled like an aluminum can.

Allstate, who insures the Toyota, is denying the claim on the front end damage saying I must have accelerated after getting hit causing me to hit the car in front of me and therefore they weren't liable. What a crock. I don't know the physics of it to explain why my rear bumper didn't get more damage, other than assuming since I was hit very flush the force was transferred equally through a bumper designed to take such impact. Unfortunately hoods are not designed that way. I was also injured - whiplash. Their driver says he barely tapped me at less than 5 mph.

Although the impact was sufficient to knock off the plastic covers of the rear light assembly (inside the trunk) they are saying it could not have been enough to push me forward about 3 feet into the truck in front me. Even if their ridiculous position was true, the proximate cause of hitting the car in front of me was the negligence of their driver. 1,030 in damage, 100 medical bill (thus far) however Allstate said they will be pay it, we'll see. It has been 17 days since the accident and still having neck pain. Also any expenses for rental reimbursement.

Kara of King City, CA April 23, 2009

Allstate Claims office failed miserably with customer service on my claim. They erroneously paid out to the other driver involved in a minor/non injury accident, without what I believe was an investigation. They took statements from both of us, but did not take photos of my car or the street where the accident happened. There was no policde report. Furthermore, I had a witness and he was not interviewed. The claims office sent me a letter (after weeks of no contact) stating they had found the accident 100% my fault for an illegal lane change. I immediately contacted a supervisor and disputed the process, and how it was handled. The supervisor acknowledged poor customer service and apologized. I then wrote a letter disupting their findings. The street this happened on has one way traffic in each direction, therefore I could not have made an illegal lane change. I feel very frusturated with the handling of this claim and want this report filed officially with an outside agency.

YOU ARE NOT IN GOOD HANDS WITH ALLSTATE! My daughter was in a car that was hit by an allstate client. The date of the accident was february of 2006. yes three years ago! We still have received nothing from allstate! My daughter, 11 at the time, was in the back seat of my inlaws car at a complete stop when they were hit by an allstate driver going 40 miles per hour! Needless to say, their newer honda was totaled and my daughter was injured. Lawyers we have contacted commiserate, but are reluctant to get involved in fairly minor cases such as this one.

I have heard people call in to the lawyer on KGO radio with similiar complaints to mine and he flat out says stay away from Allstate. I'm planning to contact a consumer advocate here on channel 7 news in the bay area and I encourage others to take similar action. This company is utterly unethical!

Mary of Piedmont, SC April 8, 2009

Mary of Piedmont SC (04/08/09)
On March 30, 2009 at 1430 est. I was in my 2000 Ford Mustang (red) driving in the far right lane of a three lane road when I hit a white F-150 going at least 40 mph. I didn't even see it. She was turning left into a parking lot and I guess she didn't see me. Anyways, the State Trooper came out and ruled it her fault. Well, come to find out it wasn't even her truck, it was somebody else's, and at that time I was scared that she didn't have any insuance, but when I seen that the person who owned the truck had Allstate I thought to myself THANK GOODNESS...until now.

Well my husband and I both went to the ER and I had to have a CAT scan (I had a huge lump on my forehead), and my husband hit his chest on the dash, and his whole chin was swollen and he had bad whip-lash. Then we had to go to a follow up doctors and I had to have two x-rays of my shoulder and arm and my husband and I both were told we needed to go to physical therapy. Anyways, My accident was on Monday and I didn't get mt rental until Thursday I missed a day of work and then I had to bum a ride to work. Then the adjuster came to my house to look at my car and told me that it was totaled and told me that my 2000 Mustang with 20 rims, CD player, afterstock headlights and tail lights was only worth 3,300.

I called his supervisor and complained and said that I was not going to accept it and he had me talk with the total loss claims rep and I had to leave a message (Friday). He just called me back today (Wednesday) and said that on this next Monday I and going to have to find other forms of transformation because I have to return the rental. Are you kidding me....we haven't talked about any kind of settlemnts or anything and there already wanting to take away the rental. Well, I guess we'll see how the rest of this pans out but so far it dosen't look good. I just don't what to do. I've never been in an accident before.
