After the high wind storm in early September 08 I had roof damage and called my Allstate claims adjuster. They took down the information and after 2 adjusters called me one come out and the first thing out of his mought was your not getting a complete roof out of this! Hello. After about a week he was dropped and sent out a est of 12 squares replacment, my roof is 44 squares,I already got estimates, well its nov now and they still havent setteled and I dont think they will they are very slow on returning my calls and they keep dragging this out, I am going to look for another Insurance company and will tell everyone to NEVER BE INSURED WITH ALLSTATE. They dont want to be fair and replace what you think your insured for,They have several adjusters that will double talk and basically try and save Allstate money by not replacing your items, DONT BUY WITH ALLSTATE!

Celing has now leaks from the rain internal damage and now I know mold will probably start growing, thanks Allstate Im in Good hands

I recieved a letter from my morgage company stating that they were trying to pay my homeowners insurance to Allstate. They denied their payment and I needed to call them ASAP. I stopped in to my local insurance agency and asked what was going on and why they were not paying. The office staff couldn't figure it out, but it just so happened that almost three years ago, I had my jewelry stolen at the salon I work in.

I had to file a claim in order to replace it, and a police report was made. However, They just decided to spike up my rate an extra 40% increase on my homeowners insurance, and didn't notify me or my morgage company who holds my escroll account. I found out they wouldn't except it because they are asking an extra 500.00, when I was paying about 565.00 a year. Anyway, I believe that this is fraud over a claim that happened 3 years ago and now they decide to all of a sudden increase my rate, deny my payment from my morgage company and now I owe a late fee, etc. etc. The claim was only a little of 300.00 and now I'm going to be more than paying for 5 times the jewelry cost!!!!! This is not right and someone has to put a stop to it.

I am very angry, and frustrated. I will be paying and extra 1500.00 before they say my rate will go down. I also found out that there have been others that this happened to in my area. These are bad times, and people are getting more and more desperate for money. However, large companies such as Allstate has sunk to a all time low by doing this to their most reliable customers. I can only afford so much, much more is causing stress, fatigue, anger, anxiety, and sleeplessness.

Joy of Pine City, MN November 12, 2008

We had a major hail storm come through our town and it damaged our siding and roof. The adjuster finally admitted that it did have hail damage...but only to one side of the house and only to some of the roof, not the shingles. They refused to pay to have the shingles replaced even though they are 25 year shingles and have only been there for 13 years. But then it gets even better.

Our licensed contractor who has been in the roofing business for 20+ years submitted his cost and the materials to the insurance agency. Allstate is only willing to pay for one third of the actual cost it will take to repair what the adjuster already agreed to as damaged! I'm not sure what store they are estimating their costs from (I asked and they wouldn't tell me), but they said our only recourse is to arbitrate. The Allstate adjuster's letter states, We will work with you to resolve your claim regardless of where you purchase your materials and services. If you find the cost of repairs or replacement is more than reflected in this estimate, please contact your claim adjuster at the number listed above.

I called to try to work with them regarding the matter and they told me (in not so nice terms) that my only choice is to arbitrate. So much for good hands.

This should be illegal. I have had Allstate insurance for twenty years and currently have seven different policies with them. This is the very first time (through four homes we have owned) that we have ever had a homeowner's claim. Also, eight neighbors on the same street had their siding AND ROOFS replaced with no hassle. No, they did not have Allstate. What can be done? Last I checked stealing was illegal, and that is exactly what they are doing.

18,000.00 actual damage. Allstate paid out on 3,000.

We had a house fire in May of 2008 and it is now November of 08 and we are still living in a trailer in our driveway thanks to All State's greed and refusal to settle fairly with us so that we can move on with our lives. We own a multi family house and we had a 5 year old tenant set a fire in our 3rd floor apartment. The damage was extensive on the 3rd floor with significant water damage on the second floor. All State gave our claim to an adjuster from Connecticut in order to expedite our claim because the Rhode Island adjuster was so backed up.

For the first 7 weeks that this specially assigned adjuster had my case he went on vacation 3 different times for a week at a time. My public adjuster has letters from him apologizing for it taking him so long to get back to him because he was on vacation. My public adjuster has put in a claim, with an detailed estimate, and they have come back with an offer of less than half of what we will really need to fix our house. We told them we disagreed and filed for arbitration, and they are refusing to go to arbitration! It is specifically written into every policy (or should be) that every client has the right to request arbitration if they can't come to a resolution. They have tried to claim that their policy is to only go to arbitration over costs and not over damages. Meaning....if they claim only one wall needs to be replaced, and we think all four walls need to be replaced, they won't discuss the difference between one and four walls, only the actual cost of the one wall they are willing to cover. That is certainly not what arbitration is designed for.

We have now hired an attorney with the assistance of our public adjuster and he is filing in court to get a judge's order to force them to go to arbitration. Maybe if they didn't have anything to hide (such as the fact that they know they haven't made me a fair offer) they wouldn't be refusing to go to arbitration. It seems that all but the consumers know what a disgusting insurance company All State really is. The night of my fire as I was filling out forms for the Red Cross, one of the volunteers asked me who my insurance company was. When I told her All State she looked at me with sympathy and said oh, I am so sorry for you. Those were prophetic words because I am so sorry I ever signed up for this sham they call insurance coverage.

Karen of Latham, NY November 1, 2008

Karen of Latham NY (11/01/08)
I obtained Allstate Homeowners insurance upon purchase of my home 5 years ago. This past February I was advised that my policy had been cancelled the previous December for non-payment. I called Allstate to ask why I had not been advised of this cancellation. They of course advised me that a letter was sent to me and there was nothing they could do about it. Because my insurance had lapsed for more than 3 months I was required to obtain insurance from another company at 397/mo. In Sept I started looking for another policy and was surprised when Allstate said that they would insure me.

Last week my agent called me to advise that my policy was going to cancel on Dec 3 because my property was unsafe. There was no fence surrounding my ABOVEGROUND pool. The only way to get into my pool is to either put a ladder up the the pool or open the patio gate. I called Allstate to advise that they had insured me with knowledge of this since I bought my home and it had been insured by other companies by previous owners without a fence. It was my understanding that an above ground pool did not need a fence as long as there was a gate leading to the deck and there were no outside ladders leading to the pool.

To make matters worse today 11/1/08 I received a NOTICE OF OUTSTANDING BALANCE advising that my policy has been terminated and I should send my payment of 42.23. I just received my monthly billing statement last week for the month of November. This was the first knowledge that my policy was being cancelled a month before my original cancellation notice. So instead of having a month to find another policy, I have to act ASAP as I have no coverage on my home.

Because of this company I was forced to pay 397/month (65/month with Allstate) for a high risk policy because they cancelled my policy without notifying me. Then they give me a notice that I have 30 days to put a fence up or my policy will be cancelled. Despite this notice, they have cancelled my policy again WITHOUT NOTICE and leave me without coverage.

This company should be shut down. If something were to happen to my home or someone were to get injured until I find coverage I will lose everything I have. They should not be allowed to treat hard working people like this and need to be stopped or at least fined a hefty penalty to stop their actions.
