Arine of Huber Heights, OH October 27, 2008

Arine of Huber Heights OH (10/27/08)
Filed a claim on my home for wind damage on my side of house. It took one month and two weeks for an adjuster to come to my house...after about 8 calls following my damage. Finally they come and say i have to match the siding best I can. My old siding is over 25 years and there is not way I will be able to find a match, which means my house is going to look odd with two different colors. I will still call and complain about this.

They put three different adjusters on my file and transferred the first two which left me waiting weeks at a time for someone to get back with me. Will definitely drop this Insurance company like a hot cake once this is done. Our money goes into the hands of allstate...but we are definitely not in good hands. Very disappointed in the customer service and lacking knowledge of the chain of command and follow up procedures for such a large company...such a shame.

They said that they could only replace the side and board that up. Which means the rest of my siding will be an off color than the new part. Found out the rest of my house has no board over the insulation as well.

Sally of Parma, OH October 25, 2008

Sally of Parma OH (10/25/08)
A few years ago we had a horrible wind storm with hurricane force winds in Cleveland, Ohio.(Which is rare) The gutters on my garage curled and were ripped off. My garage was hit so bad by the wind that it was leaning to one side. I called my Allstate agent and the company had an adjuster call me. The adjuster came out and said that it would be covered by my policy which I had for 20 years with Allsate.

Then I got a letter from Allstate telling me that they WOULD NOT COVER THE DAMAGE since my garage did not have wind braces in it (which are not city code) I called numerous times for months and no one would call me back. I was furious since when I chose Allstate, they came and took pictures of my property (garage included) and took my money for 20 years. If they would not cover the garage without wind braces why did they include it in my policy? My policy was broken down to home and other free standing structures.

The sad part is that the estimate to correct my garage was only 750.00 and they refused to pay it - after all the money I paid them for 20 years! We tried to take them to small claims court but by the time we got a court date the city (which has policies with Allstate) said that we were out of time due to the statute of limitations.

I requested all my money back for the past 20 years of paying for the free standing structures and they still would not call me back. Why would they put that phrase in my policy and then back out when I had a claim? I think everyone needs to have a class action suit against this rip-off of a company. None of us were in good hands! They should be put out of business (and in jail)for ripping people off of their hard earned money. Allstate is a huge rip-off. They should not be allowed to be in business.

I had to work extra shifts to save the money to fix my garage since I could not park a car in it. I lost part of my property due to their idiot and money hungry policies.

Richard of Suwanee, GA October 21, 2008

Richard of Suwanee GA (10/21/08)
My neighborhood was pelted with severe Hailstorms. Houses on all sides of me were covered by their insurance for roof damage. I have divots in my shingles, and I've had 2 roofers meet with Allstate to show them the Hail damage. Allstate refuses to pay. I've paid premiums to Allstate for 20+ years. I thought I was in good hands. They were rude and offensive to me.

I have a roof that is 10 years old and should have lated 25 years. I have to eat the damange since allstate refuses to pay. Other carriers for my neighbors correctly acknowldege the damages and they were covered accordingly.

Kemmy of Moneta, VA October 14, 2008

Kemmy of Moneta VA (10/14/08)
On Oct 9 2008 I went to the property that I own and noticed the heat pump had been stolen I imediatley called the police and then I filed a claim with my Insurance (Allstate) The next morning I got a call from the claims agent about the theft.

He asked if the house had been live in over the past 90 days I said no. He did not ask if we used the house for our own recreation. Which we do, so by me saying no that the house has not been occupied over the past 90 days they told me they will not pay the claim. I explained to my agent that we use the house on some weekends and when family is up they use it also. But I thought he was asking me if it had been occupied consecutively for the past 90 days.

We had to pay 2000.00 for a replacement heat pump. We have people moving into the house on 10/15/08 and to this date we still have not had a complete answer as to why they are denying the claim other than they said the house was not occupied consecutively for 90 days? I feel they are using this 90 days of occupancy as a loop hole to get out of paying the claim

Paul of Shingletown, CA October 7, 2008

Paul of Shingletown CA (10/07/08)
After being insured for over 35 years by Allstate Home Owner Insurance I just received a notice that Allstate will not renew my policy because they conducted an external inspection of my property and they state it is located in a wildfire hazard area. I live in a housing tract that has complete fire protection as there is a State (CDF) as well as a local fire station approximately four miles away and two fire hydrants within one half block of my structure. They Allstate claim all trees within 100 feet of my structure (on all four sides of my house) would have to be removed to qualify for renewal(not all trees in question are even on my property)so consequently (by their new standards) I can not be considered for Allstate fire insurance in the future. I have always paid my premiums on time over these past many years and have had only one small wind damage claim, about 12 years ago. There have been no fire loss of homes in this tract since I moved in back in 1972...they Allstate have no past record of this area that would allow them to cancel my policy.

I feel all their advertisements are false if they are able to get away with this type customer relation, especially after sending me a letter (when I renewed again in September) that they are ready to help and protect my family and financial security. My present policy will be in effect until September of 2009 and I will not be able to renew it.
