Catherine of New Iberia, LA August 12, 2009

Just received my homeowners renewal which shows a substantial increase from last year and I understand about the increased coverage. I KNOW that my credit information is used to determine my rate and a re-assessment of my credit information is available but I would not get a cheaper rate and for me to order my credit report and check for accuracy which I did. Bottom line is that I do not owe enough, i.e. no mortage information or have high enough credit limits to qualify for a cheaper rate.

I am a senior citizen who have paid out two homes, countless automobiles, boats and rv's in the last 45 years. I now have one credit card with a limit of 7,500 on which I have a balance of abour 4,000 and I pay up to 500 per month on it. I was told the amount owed was more than it should be in regard to my credit limit. I have never had a late payment on any account in all these 45 years and actually paid off my home early and for this I am penalized because I do not have a bunch of credit cards, do not have any kind of morgage. What a crock. That is what is wrong here in America and why there are so many foreclosures.

P.S. I am a former employee of Allstate.

Michelle of St.Martinville, LA July 29, 2009

I had called to get a quote not just for my car but for my home as well. Not only was I given a very high quote but also told they wouldn't insure my home cause of the city we lived in. Funny thing is they have an office right down the road from me. Made me a little upset so I had asked if they insured the building they were in cause the are less than 3 blocks away.

Then after almost 2 months I get a letter in the mail telling me that I had to go to a certain address to get a reason why and I do. Guess what you have to pay to get a reason why it was so high and why they wont do a home 3 blocks away from them.

Todd of Bourg, LA July 27, 2009

Approximately four years ago my husband and I bought a boat. We were told to bring the boat to the insurance office for apprasal, which we did. We were told, by the insurance personell that this boat was appraised at 27,000.00. So for the past four years we have been paying on a 27,000.00 policy.

Just this May, my husband was coming back from a fishing trip and was ran off the road, unfortunately, he did not get the liscense number, the boat jack-knifed and came off the trailer, totaling the boat. While the Allstate adjuster couldn't find our boat in the blue book, he claimed to find a boat that he felt was comparable, and we received only 9,000.00. My question to my insurance agent, Peggy Melancon, was "Why was I paying a 27,000.00 policy on a 9,000.00 boat?" She tried to tell me that it depreciated.

Now I understand depreciation, but there is no way that this boat depreciated 18,000.00 in less than four years. She said she was talking to a boat company in Florida that was familiar with these boats to get another quote, that was over a month ago. I've been calling several times every week for over a month, she refuses to return my calls and I fell like I've been severely taken advantage of. I also feel I've been a victem of fraud. Since I was told that I needed to pay for a 27,000 policy, and my boat was totaled, I feel that I should have been paid 27,000. I'm frustrated and don't know what else to do. Like I said, I can't even get the office to return my calls. Please help.

Dean of Omaha, NE July 25, 2009

I was an Allstate client for over 8 years with NO claims. All of a sudden they raised my home ins. from 555 yrly to 1745 and my auto from 380 for 6mo. to over 900. Why? They said they could check credit reports and my bankruptcy allowed them to. That's BULL@##%T

Kay of Lincoln, AL July 23, 2009

We had some really bad summer storms. I live in the deep south so our weather can get bad. We had serious hail damaga to the roof and it was leaking in my son's room. The adjuster came out, checked everything out. We were told that we would be given a specified amount for the repairs. We proceeded to hire a company to do the repairs. Once the repairs were completed, the insurance company refused to honor a signed contract and refused to give us the money we were told we would receive. The adjuster says he did everything right and we should have gotten the amount reported to Allstate. I would think this would be a breach of contract.

Susan of Powder Springs, GA July 22, 2009

I cancelled all coverage with Allstate Ins. YRS. ago, so I understand all of the consumer complaints against Allstate. But, a family in Powder Springs, Ga. just had a payment for a new roof - AFTER having the roof replaced. NEVER was seen by an adjuster, prior to putting on a new roof. A new roof was put on by a family member's business, THEN Allstate was contacted. Supposedly "hail" damage, but how will anyone ever know. Maybe that's why legitimate homeowner's claims don't get paid by Allstate. Guess it depends on who you know with Allstate. I never heard of fixing cars, replacing roofs, without an adjuster ever seeing the damage - or claimed damage. Guess that's why insurance rates rise, & many adjusters with Allstate deny claims == just fix it & then they'll pay. What a deal!!!

JOE of MEMPHIS, TN July 16, 2009

I had a natural disaster. There was a storm and a tree fell on my house. I submitted the claim. Allstate paid, but they only pay what is called " cash value", which is even less than depreciated value. So after all was said and done, I had to pay alot of money above the insurance check to fix my house and Allstate promptly cancelled my homeowners insurance. The commercials that say Allstate helps in time of need are false. After a tree falling on my house, the last thing I needed was to have my insurance cancelled.

gordon of riverdale, GA July 16, 2009

We had a hell storm that came through our community and damaged our cars and homes. We have been told by several roofing companies that we are in need of a new roof. But, have been denied by allstate. We can not understand how a hell storm can damage our car and gutters but not our roof. They two have not been able to fully explain it either. They are trying to get out of paying for a roof. We have paid them thousands of dollars over the years. We have been with them since 1995 which would pay for two are three new roof. They say that you are in good hands with allstate but we are finding out that those hands are for taking your money. We are hard working people that can not aford to pay allstate thousands of dollars and pay the repairs as well. That is the reason we pay for hazard insurance.

Carolyn of Coldwater, MS July 7, 2009

Had a leak from the heating and a/c system that ran under the kitchen tile and was not discovered until it started buckling the hardwood floor in the living room. The leak was found and fixed that same day. Allstate said they denied the claim due to 'leakage over a period of time' and since we didn't KNOW about it, so could not FIX it until it buckled the hardwood, it was a null and void claim. Stay away from this insurance company. The agent said that NO INSURANCE COMPANY would cover a leak like this, so my question to him was that since we fixed it the very DAY it was discovered, what happens to all us baby-boomers if we have a cabin by the lake and arrive in May to find that a pipe burst during the Winter and flooded everything...NOTHING would happen. Why in the name of everything holy have we paid faithfully thru the years just to have the first claim we ever made blown off?

Rhonda of Murfreesboro, TN July 5, 2009

Insurance adjustor came a week after tornado on April 10. We were told to go ahead and put new roof on house and get broken windows replaced and they would have check in the mail for that much of the claim within 3 days. Since then they have changed our adjustor 3 times and last adjustor came to house and told my husband along with contractor -3 days the same as first adjustor. it is now July 5 and no check for roof or windows much less all the rest of damage. They make excuses or say they haven't checked e-mail. Not sure where to go from here.
