We recieved a letter yesterday from allstate saying they are not renewing our insurance on our home as we had 2 claims in 11 years, the first was a burst pipe they said it was our fault, lied about coming out to check damage, the pipe that burst was in our ceiling in basement, it damaged the wall , ceiling and carpet, had to contact insurance inspector and write letters, at first was denied, I kept records of all phone calls I made, and e-mails I sent, never was contacted by agent, our pipe burst in feb they finally realized I was not going to stop finally sent someone to check our damage, in august, we had done the repairs, but had pictures , 2 weeks later they did finally pay but grugingly, last year we had a 90 mph wind blow a 100 foot tree over, it crushed our fence and our gazebo, they paid us to clean up the tree and the repairs were paid for.

Now because of the tree coming down they question if someone pushed it over, WHAT?? we do not know what they think I do not have the incredible hulk as a spouse, and he was the only one here. Anyway we are going with a different company and glad to be away from them. If you are looking for insurance look else where, if this is your company find a new one this one will cancel for acts of God.

basement-flooded the ceiling, wall and ruined carpet, all were repaired our expense before they paid out.when the tree came down it crushed our fence, and gazebo they were not going to pay if the tree went in the neighbors yard so they told me to say it was all in our yard.

Allstate just sent us our new statement for homeowner's insurance and they want to increase it from 1170.00/year to 2000.00/year. They sited construction costs for replacement as the reason. Of course, I'm looking for a new insurance company right now.   We had 1 claim last May, wind damage that took 1/2 of our barn roof and then the adjuster also gave us money to replace our home roof because of hail damage.

Catherine of Findlay, OH March 23, 2009

Catherine of Findlay OH (03/23/09)
I purchased a house in Dec.07 and purchased house and flood insurance for 1 year at that time. My payment was late and my insurance was cancelled. I contacted the insurance company in January and told them that my policy had lapsed and needed to be re-instated. At that time the insurance agent asked me if I wanted to pay for 1 year of insurance or by the month and I chose by the month. They quoted me the monthly cost and I gave them my credit card number to make the first payment. I've paid each month since then with no problem.

On March 8th, 2009 the city of Findlay flooded because of heavy rains. I called to file a claim on my flood insurance and found out a week later that my insurance agent screwed up and only renewed my house insurance. Now I have a house that flooded and don't have the money needed to make it liveable again.

Heavy rain caused the river to overflow and my house flooded.
