Ronald of Randolph, VT March 3, 2008

Ronald of Randolph VT (03/03/08)
In 1988, I borrow 7800 from my Tax Sheltered Annuity to purchase my home. I began to re-pay myself in 1993. Since then I have paid in over 8000. I cannot get Conseco to give me a transaction history of the loan repayment. All I ever get is an account audit, which shows that I paid X amount of dollars on such and such a date. It never shows me what the current balance of my loan is. I have talked to service reps, I've written letters, and I have even tried to take the financial beating with regards to to taxes by trying to withdraw the surrender amount; yet I get no satisfaction. I keep paying every quarter and the surrender value keeps getting smaller.

I feel that I am being taken by Conseco as it was my money to start with and clearly they are gaining monetarily at my expense.

My parents bought long term nursing home insurance in 1991. My father became ill and was placed in a nursing home in February of this year. Medicare paid the first 100 days and Conseco was supposed to pay us 70.00 a day after that point. I have mailed them over 100 documents including bills, claim forms, doctor and nursing notes, etc. and they still have not paid the total amount due. Every time I call they tell me I need more paperwork. They still owe us over 2000.00.

My mother is 82 years old. She would have never been able to compile all the information needed to process her claim. My father passed away on 9-6-07 and not only does she have to deal with losing her husband of 60 years but also deal with the mounting bills. I am power of attorney for my parents and have been trying to collect from this company since 7-07.

My mother put a claim in for her LTC insurance for November (her start month). Conseco said they cut a check for Nov and Dec LTC insurance on January 17, 2007. We never recieved it. I called two weeks after it was cut and was told I have to wait one month before they will put a stop payment on it and reissue the check. I called on February 16 and had them proceed to stop payment and reissue. They then told me it would take UP TO ANOTHER 30 business days to stop payment and reissue. When asked why, the answer I recieved was we are a large corporating and these things take time.

I called every week to see where they were in the reprocessing of the check and the answer was it is still in process and we have up to 30 business days to process. On the 30th business day, March 27, 2007 (2 1/2 months after the original check was cut) I called to find out where the check was and the answer it, it's still in process, at which I told them it was the 30th business day and all I've heard for the past 6 weeks was we have up to 30 business days to process and now you haven't even started processing?? And then the answer was, It's in Escalation and they now have 10 days. I called today (after 5 days) and still in process.

I will call everyday for the next 5 days and if necessary, I will get on a plane and go sit in their lobby until I get a check or I will get a lawyer. Would I ever consider this company for my insurance needs - no way.

I have had to take a personal loan out to cover my mothers assisted living costs because they cannot get me the money they owe us.

Emma of Rhome, TX August 9, 2006

Emma of Rhome TX (08/09/06)
We have a heart and stroke policy. My husband passed away on January 29, 2006 from a massive stroke. I sent Conseco the death certificate, which stated that the cause of death was end stage cerebroovascular disease. ( I not sure that is spelled right, I can't read the doctor's writing.) They wrote asking for an itemized hospital bill on the hospital's letterhead, a doctors bill on the doctor's letterhead. They sent a HIPAA authorization for me to sign so they could obtain the information from the hospital and doctors (which I returned). I received another letter stating that I need my husband's signature.

They have the death certificate. My husband passed away 6 months ago and I still do not have any compensation for a policy that we have paid on for over 25 years.
