Anita of Fredericksburg VA (09/03/08)
2 incidents: My daughter drove a borrowed car, she was told was insured. She slightly rear ended someone--who said they weren't hurt. The car she drove actually hadn't been insured by the owner, but she didn't know that at the time at all. The people she hit were insured by Geico. Now they claim injury, and Geico is harrassing our daughter, rather than going after the registered, supposedly insured car owner.

I was hit by a reckless driver that ran through a red light at a very fast speed. She was insured by Geico. The police report shows this to be 100% her fault.

Geico is suing our daughter, who completely beleived the car was insured, is out of work and has a new baby; rather than going after the registered owner of the car she drove. We have explained this to Geico in detail many times, yet they keep going after her. At the same time, refusing to pay the bills from my accident, caused by their insured. Our daughter needs the attorney, we have one.

My husband is temorarily disabled, has been out of work 3 weeks. Workers Comp is screwing around the insurance company has not showed up to his workers comp hearings. Now they have set another hearing for 10/3, meanwhile we have no income coming in. I am a stay at home mom of 2.

I called GEICO & Emailed them our situation & they said the bill is due 9/11 but they can give us to 9/13 or they will cancel the insurance. We have a leased vehicle on the policy & if the insurance is canceled they will take the car. They said they couldn't do anything.

On 7/24/2008 I was in volved in an accident. A [man] hit the back of my vehicle. [He] received a citation, did not notify his insurance co. of the accident. I called Geico at 4:30pm on the 25th to see if [he] had filed a claim. He had not so I did so. [He] claims I was at fault because I cut in front of him. An investigation wa launched and now 37 days later I am still waiting to get my car repaired. The examiner for Geico has sent a letter stating he has 10 days to get in touch with her.

[Geico] suggested I file through my insurance co. However I have a 500 deductable. Why should I pay my deductable when it is their insured that was a fault. I left a message suggesting Geico send me 500 and I would glady filed through my insurance co.. What can I do?

The back end of my car is damaged a tail light is broken whickh could result in being pulled of by law enforcment and getting a citation. Besides I have red tape of my tail light which looks terrible.

I was a Geico policyholder from 1985 to 2003. That is, until the day I received a letter from Geico stating that they were cancelling my policy. In all those years, I had had 1 minor fender bender, my fault. I had never even used the glass policy for my windshield in all those years. I contacted Geico concerning this notice of cancellation. I asked the customer service rep why Geico would cancel my insurance. Her response? She said it had to do with 2 speeding tickets I had rec'd in 1998 and 1999, 3-4 yrs previously! However, she let me know what the real reason was. You see, since I had been a Policyholder for so many years, I was what they called Grandfathered In. This means that I could not have my rates raised. I wasn't with Geico all those years for nothing. The rates were AWESOME! No other insurance company could touch them!

So, in order for Geico to raise the rates of all us long-term policyholders, they had to find something, anything, to cancel coverage over. So, Geico cancelled my coverage over old tickets. She responded that she could start a new policy for me, if I wanted, but it would be much higher than the rate I had previously been paying. My rates at the time of the cancellation, for 2 vehicles, was approx 650.00/year. The new rate she quoted me - 2400.00/yr. I was floored! I asked why it was so high? She said the company set my rate at that price due to those 2 old tickets. I walked away from Geico that day. I have never looked back. I will NEVER call them, even to get a quote.

I am a Claims Adjuster and have been for many years. I read your stories and I, too, wonder how these companies get away with the tactics they pull. For anyone interested: Heres a GREAT TIP! GET AN ATTORNEY!
