S. of Miller Place NY (10/16/08)
My home was burgalrized and burned down. Neighbors witnessed indiviauals leaving my residence. I was working on my house(painting, spackling, sanding) so I had my wife and two kids under 2 yrs old stay with my inlaws. Once the arson was looked at state farm they stated they have to investigate. Its been over a month. Statefarm also stated since we were gonna stay with our inlaws anyway that they will only give us 800 a month for a family of 4 and 2 dogs. We stated we need a rental place at which time they are denying the claim.

We have been treated as criminals by state farm who is doing everything possible to avoid paying for the home to get rebuilt and for my family and I to get a temporary home where we can all fit.

Stress with my wife and children. Fighting with the inlaws and arguing with statefarm. Unable to sleep through the night due to Statefarm taking there time on getting the home inspected to get rebuilt.

9 14 08 75 + mph winds actually blew through Cincinnati,OH due to Hurricane Ike. Much damage was done to many homes. My roof was totaled. Claim was filed with State Farm that very day. I have been with State Farm for over 25 years. Took 2 and 1/2 weeks before an adjuster came out and then another week before he told me what they would cover. My temper tandrum is what even got them out to begin with. I called 14 roofers including those they suggested. Only 2 came out to give me bids as everyone is booked.

Bids are coming in at 19,000+. I have full replacement policy for wind damage. State Farm has agreed the roof needs to be totally replaced but only wants to pay 10,500. I have now gotten him to reaccess this and we are up 2,000 more. Still not enough to fix my roof. How can two bids be so close in price and State Farms Adjuster be almost 50% off. Here I sit....25 years of paying premiums with blue tarps on my roof almost a month after the storm-right before winter moves in and no settlement nor roofing contract signed.

I have had State Farm Insurance on my auto for 6 years now and never had a claim. On Aug22nd 2008 I switched my homeowners over to State Farm and on Aug 27th 2008 we had tropical storm Fay come through with hail and wind and it did roof damage to my home. I put in a claim and here it is Oct 4th 2008 and still waiting for a adjuster to call me or come to my house and State Farm has cancled my home owners insurance. They letter they sent me says do to total loss of roof!!! How do they know it is a total loss when they have not been out to my home. They did refund my money but I have less than 20 days to find insurance now.

Roof still not fixed and we have had 2 more storms come through scence I have put in my claim!!! What are my right????

Alta of Bridge City, TX September 25, 2008

Alta of Bridge City TX (09/25/08)
I contacted State Farm for a renters policy for a townhome I began renting in January of 2007; as I have been a long time State Farm policy holder. I purchased a policy sufficient to cover my contents. I was not informed that a renter could purchase flood insurance as I had for my homeowners policy. On September 12, 2008, Hurricane Ike flooded all of Bridge City Texas due to a storm surge. I am exceptionally upset to know for my 19 years of payments of car, homeowners and now renters that State Farm would decline my claim. It is the job of your State Farm Agent to educate the policyholders the difference and options or riders avaiable.

I have lost all furniture for the bottom floor of my townhouse. I spoke to my current agent (transferred file due to marriage to combined with spouse) and she told me flood was a separate policy that would cost an estimated 105.00 a year. I currently have flood on my home and would have purchased it for my townhome had I known that was an option.
