I have had state farm renters insurance for 3yrs. Recently i went away on vacation and was a victim of a burglary. There was no force entry showing that I may have left door unlocked! Or as police said < i may have closed the door on the jacket that was hanging by the door! Regardless, state farm has been nothing but pain. They wanted receipt of everything, and under priced most items that were taken. And, they questioned me and anyone that had to do anything with the items that were taken, including my ex-husband whom i did not want to get involved in any shape or form.

They basically interrogated me when the agent came by to investigate and wanted to tell me i lied about the burglary! he gave me anxiety when asking questions, all detailed questions about my personal life! This is the WORST insurance company i have ever had to deal with and never will! they still have not paid for anything

Our home burned down May 18th 2008 a total loss. My agent was called and was there with us as we watched it burn everything we owned. She gave us a check for 5000 on site and said do whatever you want with this we are here to help you. Ok for one we have 6 children and we totaly devastaed that day. We went back tot he hotel that night were we stayed for 3 weeks until state farm aggreeed to buy a 2 bedroom 1 bath mobile home for us to stay on our farm to care for our pets.

to make a very long and still going story short. Our home is considered a undetermined house fire they can not find cause of our fire we even hired a fire expert and have an attorney and NOTHING but oh no state farm is deniying our claim 100% saying they think it was an intentional fire so they are paying for nothing not even housing. Ofcourse we had to purchase another home to live in winter comes and I home school and could not live in a 2 bedroom mobile home with out skirting on it which they denined us putting that up as well we needed something larger for the winter so we did buy a home so here we are in Dec late dec that is paying 2 morgages and paying everything out of pocket. we are sueing them

Had hail damage to my roof on my home during a storm, Adjuster came and confirmed. I had already had a couple estimates but the adjuster's own estimate was about a thousand too little but said if the contractors actual costs are indeed higher to just submit the final invoice after the work is completed and they would adjust the difference. Well after the work was done I never could get the adjuster to return my calls.

I have since received the amount that the adjuster originally estimated for which was about 7000. I then contacted and faxed the information to State Farm's office My agent gave me of which the initial conversation over the phone indicated they were going to adjust for the difference, the final invoice was a little over 8000. a few weeks passed and I called on a status on the claim, everyone I talk too says the claim is paid and no adjustments have been made nor are they willing to do so or even discuss it. I am now filing a complaint with my states do nothing insurance agency but I am also going to switch to a different insurance company right away.

I am still out of pocket for the difference of the actual repairs and what State Farm has paid me on my claim which is a lot of money to me.

We have had this house for 16 years. We have never had an auto or a home claim of any kind and we do not intend to. We are private, careful, moral people who value our home.

We got a letter from State Farm that they were dropping us because we had a ladder inside our above ground pool and because we had personal property outside that was not secure. I suspect this may have been an old gutted computer we were going to donate that sat outside for a couple of weeks on our carport. We are not sure. If someone had stole it we would have been glad.

In any event, we are behind a tall privacy fence and the pool was covered- someone would have had to have came out and snooped in our yard and even got under our pool cover to even see that little ladder was even in the pool.

Well we are now stuck without homeowners insurance. Our mortgage requires it. We are not in a hurricane zone or flood plain or anything.

After seven months on the market, I finally had a contract on my house, and the buyers didn't pull out of the deal when winds from Hurricane Ike fell a huge pine tree, caving in my covered back porch and poking a sizeable hole in my roof. I waited two weeks before I was contacted by an adjuster for State Farm. I spoke with the man twice, but never met him because he was let go. It was two days shy of a month since the hurricane before an lady came to inspect my damage. She estimated my damage and promptly delivered a check for 5,500--considerably less than any of my bids for repairing the roof and rebuilding the porch. My agent's office, with whom I'd been working all along, asked me to be patient and work with the Dallas office, although I requested another inspection.

The Dallas office had my contractor send 3-4 different versions of his bid. After the Dallas office denied rebuilding the porch, I demanded a second adjuster assess the damage. I got my second visit from State Farm nine weeks after the hurricane. The new adjuster was just in time to see the water damage to my kitchen and attic from heavy rain two days earlier. I removed my florescent ceiling light cover to find it full of water; the contractor and adjuster had to help remove it and we still spilled water everywhere. Work has not begun because even with the suppliment of 3,000, the repairs I feel shoud be made are not funded. Specifically, I am worried about the structural integrity of a porch that has collapsed and only been half repaired. I also feel that the whole roof, not just a portion should be redone. The back of the house is funded according to State Farm standards, but the adjuster said the front could be repaired with a few of the leftover shingles.

My buyers pulled out after being patient for six weeks. I still have hole in my roof and a destroyed back porch. I've used all of my savings paying for getting the tree off the roof, so at least my deductible is paid. I feel that if State Farm had better trained staff, I would not have required a second inspection and I would not have water damage. Possibly, I wouldn't have lost the income from the sale of a house I cannot afford since I became divorced.

Now there is a question about the number of squares needed to roof the back portion of the roof. I received a call from the Dallas office today asking me a question about the contractor's proposal. When I pointed out that the answer was on line two of the document, the representative raised her voice and I requested that she not yell at me. She kept asking the same question over and over, so I requested to speak to a supervisor since she apparently could not understand my answer. When I answered her questions, she disagreed with me and referred to the inspector's report, a mysterious document I am not privy to and paints the whole espisode as hunky-dory.

She asked why work hasn't been completed. I got the check after 7 p.m. on a Friday night, it had to be signed by my loan officer before insurance would release the funds, and the bank puts a 5-business day hold on all insurance funds. I didn't get the whole explanation out though. I asked for a supervisor and was told they were in meetings and unavailable until later. I've never filed a claim before, and my fervent prayer is that no one else has to go through this just to get what was promised in her insurance policy.
