AT&T, which once had it all, planned to have it all again. "AT&T Broadband" was going to be the one pipe that delivered cable, Internet access and telephone services to the home. AT&T raced around buying cable systems for top dollar but has failed badly at integrating the tangled mess of companies and the entire scheme is starting to unravel.

Not surprisingly, the basic glitches with AT&T broadband break down into a pretty familiar list:

Here are a few of the more recent complaints:

Clint of Mishawaka, IN October 15, 2008

Clint of Mishawaka IN (10/15/08)
Had a sales rep come to my house unannounced to sell me the U Verse package. My wife told him that I dealt w/another rep the week prior and that I was not interested. This second guy really had an ego the size of Texas as he thought it was his house and the porch he was standing on. My wife told him that we were eating dinner and that she was not interested. I had my two daughters playing in the driveway at the time, and he replied your girls are playing outside as if we were done eating and that was an excuse to get him to leave. So my wife has to justify to this guy? AT&T must have this cut throat approach to sales. So he still proceeds to ask my wife questions about our current service, another competitor, and I tell him from my sofa that we are not interested.

He then questions me from outside the door, and I'm not even visible to him to be questioned. I come to the door and tell him we are happy with our current provider, whether or not he could save us money. I tell him with all due respect we are not interested once again, then his repeats jokingly, with all due respect.

If AT&T wants to sell me anything at my door, they better train their reps to be less arrogant and more respectful of their current customers. I do have the phone/dsl package from them currently, so they must think it's mandatory every electronic item in my house must be AT&T issued equipment. This second guy said he was more seasoned than the first. Yeah, seasoned with attitude.

Mrs of Gary, IN October 14, 2008

Mrs of Gary IN (10/14/08)
I signed up for AT&T's U-Verse cable service a couple months ago and its never worked properly. I contacted AT&T numerous times to resolve the issues and was treated as if I were stupid and incapable of working a cable box & remote. Last week my cable boxes shorted out after I was prompted to try repair techniques specifically suggested by an AT&T phone repair specialist. I had a scheduled appointment for replacement of the boxes on 10/13/08 and no one ever showed up or bothered to call.

I have been without cable service for six days already and after waiting almost eight hours no one has shown or called. When I contacted AT&T throughout the day to resolve the issue and find out where my repair person was, they repeatedly lied and told me he was on his way. The only thing they offered for compensation was a lousy free month of cable service. I should mention I lost more money taking a day off work for them to show up than a month's worth of cable service is worth.

I lost a days worth of pay, which doesn't even compare to the anger and rage I experienced at being screwed over by a company I give a lot of business (not to mention money) to! I'm canceling my cable services, internet service and possibly my home and cell phone services as well. I'm not going to continue to reward this company for their bad service by continuing to pay them to treat me [badly]. Their motto we value you as a customer makes me chuckle. They don't value you as much as they do your money!

We had an appiontment for repair on our dsl today and was told that they would be here between 12-4 and we had called today to make sure that they were coming. They assured us that we were second in line for service and waited all day and finally at 3:00 we get a call from the repair guy saying he will be there in 10 minutes which took 30 minutes and informed us that we are gonna be charge 50 dollars per half hour they are there.

This was a shock to us because none of the agents told us about the charge and for 2 hours we were passed around like a football to different departments and agents who are very unprofessional and very rude. They did not have an explaination to our problem. It was frustrating . We never got anything resolve and all they said was i am sorry and transfered us back and forth this is not how you handle business.

Well we were charge for the service and nothing was resolved. None of the supervisor called us back and we are paying more for nothing and our service is still bad.

I Have Had A Terrible Experience With AT&T DSL Internet Service. It Is Absolutely The Slowest Internet Service I Have Ever Seen. If You're Thinking About Getting AT&T Internet Service I Would Warn Against It.

Christine of Indianapolis, IN October 3, 2008

Christine of Indianapolis IN (10/03/08)
Friday,Sept.26, 2008. A Technician of Att comes to my home to install my tv and computer service. I type and print out the informatiion from the computer a few minuates before the tech used it. The techincian was on my computer and minuates after it stop functioning and he left me, the consumer with a non-function computer. I am a student of a University and have online classes( school work 6-7x week) and cannot use my computer to do by class work/assignments and my school tution is very, very expensive!

I have called the company about every day, and the Sedgwich claim dept frequently and they usual do not call back to give me a status report. Today, Oct. 03, no results and its going into a second week. I have been an ATT phone consumer a very, very long years and pay my bills. I am getting poor service and need a computer. I had my computer diagnosized and the Geek tech. dept said it is not worth (the damage)repairing.
