Thanh of Portland, OR May 17, 2009

PeoplePC now disconnects (drops) my internet connection every 30 minutes, regardless of what local numbers I used. To reconnect, I encounter all kind of errors and have to jump through hoops reconfiguring the dialer, sometimes reboot the PC to redial, and reconnect again. Their technical support is just refering me around to moot and trivial things that do not work or have anything to do with the problem. This is basically no internet connection at all. I am doing job search these days and it is simply impossible to do anything spendign mopst of my time trying to reconnect. This is a breach of contract of unlimited access I signed up with them.

I closed my account with this company in July 08 and they have been charging me ever since. When I caught the problem, they admitted that the account was closed but woudlnt reimburse me because I dont have a confirmation number, which they never gave me the company owes me 131.45

I experienced everything talked about in previous complaints such as continued billing after cancelation; talking to India when I could get through; free months double talk; charges that can't be refunded, etc. Since I originally signed up with People PC through AARP I just complained to AARP asking them to warns others and to put some pressure on PPC to stop these scam practices. I'll pass along any information on what AARP does to rectify this problem. I feel sorry for older members who don't watch statements closely or have a relative who just pays their bills as a matter of fact.

So far, under 40 BUT the way things are now I'll be checking my monthly statements for the next several years. I'm afraid they'll sneak more charges in before this matter is settled.

I subsribed to these about three years ago then cancelled about 3 months later the payment was to be 5.95 a month two years later found out they were still charging me at a rate of 19.95 i called them again to cancel and that i wanted reimburst for that time they said they cant do that but they would make sure they would cancel my account i was not happy with that but i would deal with it. here i am going through my bank statements and i find them charging my account again. if this does not get resolved now i will put my financial means into turning people pc into plummer pc.

on August 30 2008 i called people pc to cancell service because my computer was down and I didnt have to fix it. I told them of my dilemma they said that what they would do is give me 2 mo free service and if i didnt get my computer up by october 31 to call back and cancel. w/i 1 mo time they withdrawl from my bank account for 1 mo service. I call them told them that they charged me for services they provided me for free and told them i wanted them to put the 10.95 back into my accnt, they said they couldn't so I had my bank file a greivence and i got back my 10.95. but by october i got a call from NCO finance collections saying i have an outstanding bill with people pc for 62.90 and if this wasnt paid in full now that the interest will accrue. These people are scammers. I will be contacting the Washington State Attorney General.

This bill has now affected my nearly perfect credit score of 869, I pay my bills on time but this is crap. Its the principle of it all, Im not going to pay for something that I dont owe for.

Pamela of Saint Paul, MN March 21, 2009

My 89 year old mother now has a very significant vision loss. I called on October 25, 2008 to cancel her PeoplePC account since she could not longer use her computer. I was told that they would cancel (after much argument on their end) and she would get a free month of service. She told me today she noticed she was billed in March for the service. I assume she was also billed for December, January and February.

When I called PeoplePC they claimed I had accepted a free month but did not cancel the service! This is unbelievable, that they can consistently run this kind of scam. Are they not subject to the law? They said they were now cancelling it, but could not pay her back since I had not requested the service be ended in October. (even though they read back the statement I made that month that my mother was no longer able to use the service!) I will be complaining to the Ohio Attorney General. Any other ideas of what I can do?

My mother lives on limited income - she cannot afford to be taken advantage of by this totally unscrupulous company. Nor can others!
