I was surprised after looking at BBB (which has an A+ rating for this company) and then Consumer Affairs and see all these incredible complaints. I can't complain because I was about to join until I saw all you stories. I am sorry you are all going thru all the financial situations. I do thank you for letting me know and others know. You will help so many!!!

I am writing regarding the unsatisfactory service [they] have provided to myself and my family, thus several attempts to contact and discuss my concerns. I finally spoke to someone regarding those concerns, requesting a refund from the start of service, no refund was made, hence continuing to bill me. I was not aware of [their] continuing to bill me as this is an account that is not my primary account. It cost me about 900.00 since the beginning of my new membership and I received absolutely nothing.

The attorney in Florida plead no contest when J. Wright plead not guilty, which cost us 220.00, had we had known prepaid legal was without a doubt misleading we would not have had a membership and J. would have plead guilty ( he was not going over the speed limit) and it would have more cost efficient if we would have paid the ticket, during this financial crisis [they] are billing me for a service I am not using. If you look at my file see the many attempts to try and use [their] service and service failed ( keep in mind this was only the beginning). I really believe that these wonderful stories [their] associates have are bogus and misleading.

Current I am in financial distress and have no monye to be giving it away for free

They poorly handled a car accident and a workers comp. claim. Resulting in a low statemented. I then contacted them about a illegal firing from the state which had fired me against state OSHA laws and the Federal whistle blower act. They wanted 5000 retainer. What good is Pre-Paid Legal+ they get part of your settlement. I just contacted them about a malpractice suite and basically was told that it would not be financially feasible. This is against one of the largest hospitals in the area. In both cases this would have been political suicide IN OUR LOVELY STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA.

Economic, increased stress and growth of unknown mass in my [chest; back pain] from unknown source. Which was know and obvious on my x'rays but was uninformed by the ER 3 times. I believe if I had Insurance this would not have happened. The insurance loss was due to the Illegal firing. In addition my back pain has increased and if had been informed I would not have returned to the ER and taken further steps to control movement to help prevent further attacks.

Christopher of Santa Rosa CA (12/25/08)
My mother purchased prepaid legal to help me retain an attorney on 11/28/08. Prepaid Legal services took 25 out of her bank account. When I received my membership number the attorneys that work with PPL refused to help me and gave me the run around. I had to hire an outside attorney for the help I needed. When they sent their packet of info, I had it sent back to PPL.

I wrote a letter asking them to refund my mother's money as she is a senior citizen and really can't afford the money. They did nothing for me and I returned everything to them. They sent a letter back on Dec. 12, 08 refusing to refund her money. It needs to be refunded to her account as I did not use their service nor could I with the rude actions they took towards me. I was desperate in need of help and they absolutely did nothing.

How can a company like this being in legal system get away with ripping off people. I am asking for her 25 to be returned to her account. Are they so desperate of need of money that they abuse senior citizens especially if they do not help.
